First Time Hearing BTS (SUGA) Trivia: Seesaw | Metalhead Reaction

I remember back in the day that everyone was so shocked that this song had choreography. I too thought Suga would just sit and rap or something. Maybe deep down he enjoys dancing lmao.

I remember the first ever live performance of this song… He’s lying on a sofa, of course he is Wait! He sat up! Oh!! He… he’s getting up!! He’s moving he’s moving he’s moving Whaaaaat!!!!!! He’s dancing! He’s dancing!! He has choreo! Whaaaatt!?!?!! Oh and there was a live where he was wearing a soft fuzzy jumper… unreal

I suspect there are as ever multiple layers and ways to read Seesaw, but it’s always struck me that Suga wrote it at roughly the same time as Outro:Tear, so it may be dealing with some of the same issues around the prospect of disbandment. I love that the songs are always open to different interpretations.

Baffling how he can be SO intelligent, insightful, articulate, discerning, wise beyond his years, intense, incredibly talented, driven with a ferocious work ethic, and still be cuter than a g.d button, lolol!!!

There is a hidden secret within the names of the trivia songs which I’ll explain now: Firstly, we have to explain the meanings of the symbols in the LY album names: “起承轉結” (Hanja: “起承轉結”; Simplified Chinese: “起承転結” = “kishōtenketsu”(~to start over)) is a structure of narrative originated in China that BTS used in their LY series and goes as follows: 起 (ki) = opening/introduction, seen in LOVE YOURSELF 起 ‘Wonder’ 承 (shō) = development, seen in LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her’ 轉/転 (ten) = twist, seen in LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’ 結 (ketsu) = conclusion, seen in LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer’ Each trivia song has the symbol of the respective album/story that they’re officially a part of in their name: 1. Trivia 起: Just Dance by j-hope, where “起” is the symbol in LOVE YOURSELF 起 ‘Wonder’ (not an album but a part consisting of only 2 songs, Euphoria and Trivia 起: Just Dance: this series of 2 songs focuses on the introduction in love and meeting that one person that you can “happily be with”…) 2: Trivia 承: Love by RM, where “承” is the symbol in LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her’ (similar theme to Trivia 起: Just Dance, but as you pointed out in your reaction to the song, we have some lyrics that foreshadow the end of the relationship unlike Trivia 起: Just Dance where j-hope sings about only the happiness that the love brings to him. We see this foreshadow in the whole album as well, not only in this song) 3: Trivia 轉: Seesaw by Suga, where “轉” is the symbol in LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’ (like we all know, LY Tear talks about the break-up, the twist in the relationship and this song is no exception: since the lovers were not showing the real themselves in the relationship, and putting different masks to hide their true selves and insecurities, this love ultimately became a fake love and could no longer survive: lyrics from Outro: Tear “This is the real you, and this is the real me/I woke up from my sweet dream and close my eyes”) Now, the word “trivia” comes from the modern latin word “trivium” meaning a place where 3 roads meet. So, the 3 parts, WONDER, HER and TEAR are metaphorically “3 roads” that join together to form ANSWER: one cannot love someone else if they don’t love themselves first. 2:53 Regarding your question, both lovers were hiding from each other by putting numerous “masks”, as stated very clearly in Outro: Her, so him saying that we’re both holding the same card means that they’re both guilty in ending the relationship. By not loving themselves enough, this led to an inevitable break-up from both parts. This took a while to write and I hope it’s helpful! Great reaction!💜😁 P.S. This song has been on my top ten on Spotify for the last three years.

I'm noticing that I didn't pay attention at the content of the lyrics when I first met most of their songs... I listened to them with a reactor who listened to the whole albums (one at a time)... It wasn't good at all, because I kept the subject, but not the words... Suga always impressed me with his wisdom, sometimes it seems he's really a grandpa hehehe I lived a situation like that... every year, we decided to tear apart, to next day decide to try again... during four years we tried and failed... thanks God, he did the only thing I'd said him not to do and this way I came back to Brazil, I left him even without legalizing our divorce in Italy. I don't regret that, in fact, it was the best thing I did in my life... I don't hate him, nor love. It was a valid experience, with some good moments and a lot of bad ones... This song hits home so hard..🥲🥲🥲 A relationship is literally just like the seesaw game, at first was all fun, who weighs heavier, who can prove they love more .. then it became a competition, then when in a parallel level, equal weight, there's this void of emotion. But if you get off, you'd look as the one who let the one down, a quitter... But as then , as the song ends, u realized, u weighed heavier , sat at the bottom all this time, cos u were just playing all alone afterall. 🥲🥲🥲🥲 The first time I ever heard this, I got chills as I realized how all of my relationships had all been all along 😭 my relationships were a seesaw game .. This song is hard to listen too , cos at most , everyone had the similar experience in their life ... Again Yoongi directly hitting where it hurts by using a catchy and seemingly light hearted tune until u read the lyrics.. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

This one is another bit if duality it’s almost soft like a pop song but an incredible look at the frustrations of relationships. Also I’m with JK and obsessed with the live choreography which was so unexpected of Suga. NEW Suga Friday!!!!!!! DDay is coming.

One of my favorite song’s from Yoongi💜💜💜

What's Suga's line in Burn It -- "Choosing to fail decisively is also courageous"? Or even the one in Nevermind -- "If you feel like you're going to crash, accelerate more". I think both of those lines tie in very well to Seesaw. Even though the Nevermind one is usually interpreted as encouragement to keep going on the path you're on, I think it can also be encouragement to wholeheartedly accept the consequences of ending something, like a relationship that is clearly failing." Stop dragging it out! Get it over with! You know it's going to hurt, embrace it *now* and then you can move on." In many songs Suga basically tells his haters that their lack of success comes from "living indecisively". He's talking about their careers but he's also talking about life in general. Make choices and accept the consequences. If it means letting your youth rot in the studio in order to be successful, do it. If that means "being the bad guy" and ending a relationship that neither of you is actually happy in, do it. Don't expect good things if all you do is just let life happen to you.

Suga dances awfully well for someone who never wanted to do it. This is such a beautiful, insightful and sad song, but he really does an amazing job with it. Thanks for reacting to "Seesaw" - most people overlook it and it's a real gem.

He's not wrong..... Well. He never is. Yoongi has a way with words. He gives words to certain things that an average person can't seem to put the finger on, but at the same time everyone has had that feeling in one way or another. I love this song ❤ This puts you in a dancing mood, but then you look at the lyrics and it creates a bittersweet emotion. Also, I love when Yoongi & Namjoon sing on their songs apart from rapping! One of my favorite song’s from Yoongi

I just love this music! So excited waiting for his new album... 💜 The background vocals are from Adora. She is one of the most talented BTS producers since the wings album. Adora produces both slow and fast tempo songs, while Pdogg produces fast tempo songs, Slow Rabbit produces slower songs and Supreme Boi produces songs with hiphop vibes. She sang on Daydream ( Jhope’s Hope World) too and she is the backing vocals in Euphoria. The song was written by the time they had the disband discussion. Seesaw means an unbalanced relationship, the constant ups and downs. During BTS career we never knew about any romantic relationship related to Suga. Maybe it's from a teenage relationship or from BTS issues, we really don't know, because Suga wanted to give the song to other members to sing. This man is so special and unique. Have seen any Suchwita episodes? He is AMAZING and so mature!!!

I would have to say that thinking of a relationship as a seesaw is brilliant in many ways. Just because we would always like to have some kind of balance in a relationship, (meaning both of them are equally engaged on it). But also when one person gets off the seesaw, the other one would have to crash down, (since there's nothing holding that person up anymore).

I love that he wrote this song so that it sounds like a typical idol song. The rhythm is catchy and light. But when you see the lyrics... I personally love songs with than contrast between melody and lyrics. And also I love the way Yoongi thinks. He's so deep but always sounds careless. I wonder what we'll have in his new album 💜

We've all had that relationship before where someone has to be down for the other to be happy, it drags out because no one wants to be the bad guy and leave first so you just argue back and fourth, blaming each other until someone finally gets off the seesaw. Suga is so good at capturing a feeling and putting it in to words... but then at the end he is like hold up... I got on the seesaw without you and now I'm getting off it without you as well... oof.

One of the most significant talents of Yoongi (and RM) is their ability to write lyrics that convey their own message but can also be interpreted in the listener's own experience and need. Core, emotional concepts are so strong in their writing that it's just so flexible. Take 134340. Yes, it's a song about the planet Pluto. But is it? It's also about feeling forgotten. Or not good enough. Or abandoned. Or just loss in general. Any one of those plus all. But it's still decidedly about the freaking status of Pluto! How do they write like that? But they do. And that's their genius. And their entire writing team. They write a lot of lyrics, but they definitely have a team approach that extends beyond the members, of course.

I know the lyrics are sad but I love how meaningful they are with the see-saw analogy. Despite the sad meaning I really enjoy listening to it, it's really fun to groove too. Also I really enjoy ADORA's backing vocals - she's the female backing singer on the track. Her voice complements Yoongis so well. She also provides backing vocals on 2 of his songs from D-Day, SDL and Life Goes On and provided vocals for a number of BTS songs as well as contributed to writing and production on some BTS songs. This was a really good live performance. I also really recommend the one on Enjoy BTS More channel - I really like that one. He is wearing a jumper and it's a more casual kind of vibe. 💜🎵

This was written in 2018 which was a hard year for BTS. They were tired and overwhelmed with the consequences of fame and thought of disbanding so it's likely that the relationship he's talking about is with the other members. TG they found their way back and now SUGA can only see a future with BTS in it.

Hobi had Ego in Hobipalooza but I get it wasn't a tour, it was a one time event so not the same ;/

You said it's kinda light-hearted, hoyful, the music, the melody, and it is! not sure if other ARMYs brought it up but Yoongi wrote this song for Bangtan. The members insisted later that he releases it as a solo! and they weren't wrong hehe
