FIRST TIME HEARING David Bowie - “Ashes to Ashes” REACTION with Tony Visconti. Hi Rob Squad family! We were lucky enough to get the chance to meet one of the greatest American record producers of all-time, the legendary Tony Visconti. Tony produced albums for mega acts such as David Bowie, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy, The Moody Blues, and Badfinger, just to name a few. This is our reaction to his groundbreaking production of one of David Bowie’s biggest sonic adventures, which just happened to top the UK charts at #1, “Ashes to Ashes”.

We launched Rob Squad and The Creators as its own channel because that is what our RSR family wants. We also have been honored to work with the amazing Production Company, F Street Productions, led by Michael Simon and Scott Kushner. Together with
F Street, Amber and I have had the honor to react to many iconic songs from the original writers, singers, and producers. The other cool thing is these artists share the behind the scenes of the songs, and as well as other stories during our discussions. This channel could have never happened without your views and constant support, so from the bottom of Amber’s and my heart, thank you very much! We need people to
subscribe to keep this channel going. We always love feedback so feel free to send us anything at P.O Box 6501 Moore, Ok

This has gone far enough, now they're taking us for idiots-who pays for the channel guys? Come clean. Its obviously record companies. You are not "just 2 amateurs" who "happen" to get people like Tony Visconti guesting without major corporate sponsors behind the scenes.
@quarkwrok
@quarkwrok 2 месяца назад
@@elcorado83 4 problems with your claim: 1. Only recently have they had these types of videos, why wait so long after all thee years? 2. People like Colin Blunstone not exactly household names, who is their target audience if its record companies? 3. Considering its mostly the artists themsleves appearing they must be fake too and goes for someone likeToyah or this guy. Do you really dispise these artists that much? 4. Record compnies want the old stuff to wither on the vine, they don't promote it and aren't interested in it. There's a reason no one else has seen the 'obvious'. Ever thought maybe its not us who are the idiots?

As a lifelong studio geek it's really refreshing to see someone like Visconti interviewed by people who aren't industry pros. I already know all about how he did the vocal reverbs on "Heroes", so it's interesting hearing questions about the working relationships/general studio vibe instead of what mics/tape speed/compression/etc. Loving this series, and what a score getting to talk to this guy is; you're making it totally worthwhile for us and him.

You DEFINITELY need to watch the official video to this, it was ground breaking at the time. It also starred some of the "Blitz kids" the people from the Blitz Club in London that gave birth to the New Romantics scene such as Boy George, Spandau Ballet and Visage ( listen to Fade to Grey). Steve Strange from Visage is one of the people on the beach with Bowie in the video.❤

David Bowie's life made such an amazing impact on the world and his death left a hole in it as well. I said it before and I'll say it again, I have loved David Bowie since I was 7 years old and saw Labyrinth when it first came out. He truly did have the heart of a poet and the mind of a machine. So ahead of his time and things that are happening with the music world and social media, he called that at a time when the internet was barely a thing in people's homes. It's amazing to see Tony Visconti still doing his thing too. One of the greatest producers in rock music. 😎👍

Usually I don't like first listens/reactions based on live versions, and this song is such a perfect, clean studio track. But this is such a great live version! Tony Visconti is so appreciated here in the UK, for his work with David Bowie, Marc Bolan/T.Rex, and many other great artists. As a fairly new bass player too, I appreciate Tony for that also. Amber and Jay, give the studio version of this song a listen too, plus the official video which was an inspiration for the UK 'New Romantics' movement. P.s. was lucky to see David Bowie live 4 times between 1983-2004 P.s.2 I want to get that Tony Visconti album!

Bowie has so much charisma and stage presence. I can only think of one other front man that approaches him, Freddie Mercury, not bad company. I'll never forget wrecking my car in a bad accident in 1974. I was listening to Bowie-Pinups album when it happened. I got out of my wrecked car and Bowie was still blasting inside the car, luckily no-one was seriously injured. I guess Bowie saved us.

I also recommend watching the video for "Ashes to Ashes" It was cutting-edge for its time. Still is, really. And Bowie storyboarded almost every part of the video. Also, "Ashes to Ashes" is a sequel to "Space Oddity" (the 'Major Tom' song).
