Hey! I'm 1 for 1 :) Hot Stuff is really good as well. She only wrote one of her hits, and it's called "Dim All The Lights". IF you can find her doing that one LIVE from a 1999 VH1 concert, do check that out. It just shows how powerful her voice is & how effortless it was for her. She wrote it for Rod Stewart, but kept it for herself.

Donna was pop music's first female mega star. Selling millions worldwide and pushing the boundaries by crossing into multiple genres. She was first solo artist to have 3 #1 singles, and 5 top 10s and/or 5 top 5 singles, in a calendar year 1979. She was the first female artist and the first black artist to have 3 #1 albums on the Billboard 200, back to back. She was also the first female artist to repeat having the #1 single and #1 album on the Billboard charts simultaneously (3 times in 8 months). She scored 9 consecutive top 5 singles all selling over a million copies or betters. Still a physical sales record. She is the only artist in history to have been nominated for a Grammy in 5 different genres (at least 3 times each), and the only artist to win a Grammy in 4 different genres (R & B, Rock, Gospel & Dance). Also the first black female artist to be placed in heavy rotation on MTV (She Works Hard for the Money Aug 83 & Unconditional Love Nov 83).

Donna Summer WAS DISCO. She was called the disco queen. Absolutely gorgeous. You could not go to a disco club and not hear some Donna Summer songs. They were made for dancing. That was when everyone dressed to the nines and the clubs sparkled and of course the disco ball twinkling from the ceiling. Every song on that album is fire.

When I was a kid I had a very straight laced aunt that was very strict. One summer at a family barbecue in the 70s she showed up brand new! She had tight jeans, long perm, hoop earrings and a radio strapped to her hip blasting Donna Summer. Everyone was like what happened to aunt Karen? She had found disco. 😆

I love your reaction to Donna Summer that is how so many of us still feel about her. One of the greatest voices ever. Donna had #1 hits until the year she died in 2011. Donna is only one of only two singers with Grammys in 4 different music categories. Most people do not realize Donna Summer's vocal abilities, range and versatility. She was far more than a disco Queen.

When I was attending school to be an x-ray tech, one of my classmates was big into karaoke and had a thing for Donna Summer. One day she was singing in her car during lunch....she didn't realize that she was parked outside of an open classroom window. DAMN she was good. She got a big round of applause when she came in. It's been over 20 years, but I think of her whenever I hear Donna Summer.

Back in the day, You either listened to Rock, or you listened to Disco. Maybe you loved disco, but you wouldn't admit it. Because disco was knocking rock off of the charts I guess. So all these fifty somethings that went around saying, "Disco Sucks" Well they are the same ones you will see out on the dance floor at wedding receptions. They are jamming to Donna Summer and The Village People. Because they LOVE the disco music from that era. Its just that it wasn't cool, and they loved it but wouldn't admit it. I always loved Donna Summer and I appreciate her even more now. Absolutely wonderful singer. You CANNOT NOT dance when you hear her sing. You Have to Get up and Move. You have no choice. Music filled with Love and Filled With Joy. Boy Do I Miss Her!

A lot of her stuff co written and produced by Giorgio Moroder. You have to listen to his solo works too like "From Here To Eternity", "E=MC²" and "The Chase". Her track "I Feel Love" was the start of "House Music".
