One of the best albums of all time, every song is excellent. Such a vibe...love me some trip hop!

It's definitely time for some Portishead (Glory Box, Sour Times, Roads).

One of the coolest tracks ever. Do "Teardrop", then with Trip Hop ya gotta do "Glory Box" by Portishead, and "6 Underground" by Sneaker Pimps too.

I always think of the movie Snatch whenever this comes on.

WOW!!! Such a cool tune. Almost sounds like something from Queen Of The Damned or one of the Blade soundtracks, kinda dark and like Ty said, hypnotizing. I had this CRANKED, never heard this before either, loved it. ABSOLUTELY FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

A personal fav of mine. A mysterious, exotic, sometimes ominous, compelling gem. You did an excellent breakdown/description of it, Nick.

This LP is all killer no filler. This one and Teardrop are the biggest singles, and as mentioned the whole composition is ultra-atmosheric with that Matrix vibe. Their earlier stuff is great too (ie. the Blue Lines LP). Check out Daydreaming for the more hip hop side of them with a decided Bristol twist. Speaking of Bristol, and as a fun fact, the artist Banksy is thought of to be a conglomeration of perhaps 3 or more individuals; one very possibly being Robert "3D" Del Naja from MA. The guy most tightly linked with Banksy identity is one of their best buddies from Bristol

Aside from the tracks listed below, they also did the theme song for "House." Massive Attack is all over the place with their sound. If you're ever curious as to what there sound was, check out out "Safe From Harm" and a masterpiece, "Unfinished Sympathy."

Never heard of the song or the band. Very trippy weed-smoking music. Not sure how I feel about it after just one listen but I can’t say I hate it. I get a bit of a Tool vibe from it. And I love Tool. I think if I heard this another time or two, I would probably end up liking it a lot. Thanks for the introduction to trip-hop, Nick. You never cease to amaze me with the music you bring to the channel. Mr. Melophile.

The video is a masterpiece too. Very creative band. One of the highlights of the 90s.

My favorite was always 'Protection' but Massive Attack have a ton of great songs.

Mind expansion is the greatest thing you can do for yourself and music is the vehicle best used.

This song appears in the film Snatch by Guy Ritchie and is explosive in that context, check it out.

This is *one* of my favourite Trip-hop albums in my collection, why not try Portishead next their song "Sour Times" is a sonic orgasm.

Their song - Paradise Circus - is the theme song on the great British t.v. show - Luther. That song added so much to the dark mood of the show.

Great to see that Ty will also be trip-hoppin' tonight! There's always extra magic when the three of you are back together. In honor of your upcoming birthday, Ryan, here's a suggestion that seems to have your name written all over it: Van Morrison's jazzy rock classic "Moondance". (It's on Rolling Stones' list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.) Not only does it have the word "moon" in the title, but it also contains flute, a sax solo, a unique & soulful vocalist, and there's even a mention of October in the lyrics. Plus, the video is basically just cars driving through the city at night. Sounds like a serious contender for the Midnight Playlist.😉I think it will go over well with Nick, too, though chances are he's already familiar with it.

Love this album... Trip hop is not my "thing".. being a 60'2 and 70's guy.. but this album I love because of the musicality and the way they have put that it together. It is mesmerising.

I liked that sound when it came out. I had even bought the album. Today I think it's a very dated sound. It doesn't impress me anymore. The same with Portishead, Morcheeba, GusGus and so many others from the 90s.

For me this is bad music, I didn't like it.
