This one is the jewel of the RIO album. Right off the bat Nick's bubbling synth line and pitch bent lead line are just otherworldly. John's emotionally evocative McCartney-esque bass. Andy's gorgeous guitar lead on the back-half of the choruses. And Simon's soaring vocal harmonies in the chorus when he sings "save it 'til the morning after..."
You are listening possibly to one of the greatest songs of all time. Listen to that harmony, that melody, that versus falling into the chorus! That’s glorious… euphemism for orgasm 🎉
These boys are up there as one of the greatest bands ever In my opinion. 100,000000 record sales Brit awards Grammys Inducted into Rock n roll Hall of fame Hollywood star on the walk of fame. Etc etc Need I say more. Wow AT RT JT SLB NR I salute you boys 👏👏👏👏👏
I believe the lyrics are about a one night stand. Love these boys like my brother's My favourite band Since 1981 I get goose pimples even now after 42 years ✌️
Hi ya buddy you got it correct lol Duran Duran are musicians like I say everytime this is why Duran Duran are a massive huge band Simon's writing is totally fukin awesome he gets is writing skills from learning poetry when he was younger that's why sum times it hard to understand but ya need to concentrate and listen ok just relax and let Simon lebon do is singing lol ok cheers buddy enjoy
You need to watch the video for Save A Prayer on RU-vid. You will be blown away also Rio and White Lines among many others. They are known for their videos too.
Love to see new DD appreciation. Some of their “newer” albums are amazing. The Man Who Stole a Leopard and Girl Panic from their album All You Need is Now are brilliant. ❤
SEPH, This song I recognized right away. Now this sounds like the "hit-maker" band I always thought they were! "Hungry Like A Wolf" can't be far behind, waiting patiently for your reaction. Now I'm psyched!
I get a kick out of your reactions! Early Duran is mostly poetic lyrics. It’s not all nonsense, as you just discovered, but some is over my head!😂 This album is just a classic. ❤
@binrotheheretic8174. I watched a "live" concert by Duran Duran last winter on PBS. And the "credits" showed it to be recent. If anything, the vocals actually sounded better live, at least how I remembered the originals.
I think you'd also enjoy the group 'Japan', from the same era. Try listening to The Quiet Life, Nightporter, Gentlemen Take Polaroids etc. A great band sadly overlooked.
FIrst baseline I ever learned to play. Gorgeous song! It's actually about one night stands lol, you got it. As to why they have so many good songs? Because they can write both music and lyrics and the songs take you on a journey..... Also it's funny, you always mention Simon when to me, as good as Simon and the others are, it's John on the Bass for me. Him and ROger on the drums really push the song forward!
@@tumslucks9781 Yes, though (and I imagine a typo here!) _well_ - as in looking down into the 'deep well' of one's innermost thought... As referenced in Gordon Lightfoot's song: _If You Could Read My Mind_ - upon which Save A Prayer is based. 🤍
Hi. I've just subscribed to your channel. I really love your reactions to all the Duran Duran songs. I would especially like to see your reaction to Ordinary World. You really need the videos up if you can without them getting blocked. Duran have the best videos ever. I also recommend their cover version of Come up and see me make me smile. This is a live concert version and is amazing. You can see the hysteria from the fans and Simon is definitely the bomb in this one.
I’m not a huge DD fan, but I have some of their songs. I know this particular one is a classic, but I have only discovered it this summer. I’m really curious to hear what you get to say about some songs from the Future Past album. The songs, the music and the lyrics there are mostly great, it is really a come-back album for them
It is so good. My absolute favorite song. Just go ahead and fall in love with Duran Duran. And it’s not just, SLB, it’s the magic of the 5. There are some very bad songs. Case in point…..Danceophobia…….cringe
I gotta say I wanted to yell at you a little bit at about the 3:34 mark. " YES! Just wait for the next verse!" Simon's lyrics are sometimes a bit cryptic, but they are always about ~something~. (Just don't ask when you get to 'The Reflex' on the next album. He STILL hasn't ever explained that one.)
That's actually one of his easiest to understand. The relfex means acting on impulse without thinking. Talks about four leaf clovers, luck, chance, etc. Every little thing the relfex does leaves you answered WITH A QUESTION MARK, like, what on earth did I just do?
Mate, I've seen several of your videos, kudos...but all of his lyrics make perfect sense. He's very imaginative with his word play and metaphors, it just needs a little more contemplation.
Check out this version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nQbtzsbHfSE.htmlsi=ZxuRtvVeDzOzmVWB My favorite live performance of save a prayer
This is about a one night stand in case you wanted to know.. You have to stop with this it makes no sense.. Its hard to watch you constantly criticize the lyrics.. Just stop talking and listen.. It's one of the bands masterpieces.. The video is one of their most iconic videos.. You need to listen and stop doing the song
Sorry. I love analysing the lyrics to songs. As im sure you are well aware of by this point 😅 I think my channel is just as much about music analysis as it is reaction, i might have to start putting that in the title 😂
