Emmylou is classic country. She had a supergroup trio with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt. Their voices blend so well.

My son, less than a week old, with a fever and screaming non-stop, late at night. One of the late shows was on and Emmylou, Dolly, and Linda started singing "After The Gold Rush". Could have been the hormones, but at that moment their voices were the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. Tears running down my cheeks, I watched to the end and when I glanced down my little baby son was out cold. I've always wanted to thank them for that.😊

Hello from Switzerland, just a “far away” county expert. Emmylou, with her unmistakable voice, has given this genre a few songs, "Tulsa Queen" is probably one of the best of them, it may be "old", but it will never become outdated.

Try Emmylou & Gram Parsons early 1970s recordings (1st Country/Rock Music) like the Eagles! I met Emmylou in 1972 at a party when she was about 17 in Woodbridge Virginia (before Gram discovered her) she was playing at a club in Bethesda Maryland at that time. Her dad was a Marine Corps Officer stationed at Quantico and lived in Woodbridge not far from Hoadly in Prince William County where my Cousin Ronnie and myself had a 'Snake Ranch' after we came back from Vietnam.. Emmylou is a Legend today :)

Something you may like, look for Emmylou Harris, Willy Neilson, and Daniel Lanois preforming "The Maker" it is a Daniel Lanois song, he is another Canadian artist on his own, but has also a world class producer, of many great artists and albums. U2, Emmilou, Willy Neilson, Peter Gabriel, many more.

“Sweet Old World” - Emmylou with Neil Young backing harmonies. This song is so beautiful it brings me to tears every time. Great on her own, Emmylou is a master of duet harmonies. Must check out duets with Gram Parsons. “Love Hurts” might be the best. Also, there’s a fabulous duet with Beck covering a Gram Parsons song on a Tribute to Gran Parsons album. The song is called “Sin City”. It’s a real gem. Pick any one of these songs, and you’ll be blown away.

I have fallen in love with Emmylou Harris over the last few years! "Luxury Liner" is a great album and a top 5 all-time favorite album is her "Cimarron" album. Her song "Born to Run" has an interlude that resembles a train also in it (which I recommend the song also) but I LOVE "If I Needed You" duet with Don Williams and her cover of "Pancho and Lefty!" She's coming to Massachusetts soon and I might be going!

I've been listening to this lady for over 50 years, from the moment I heard her singing duet harmony with Linda on "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)." I've been to see her five times, the most recent of which was late 2022 with my wife. It was our last concert together - I lost my wife just one year ago. Emmylou was one of the artists I could play anytime and Darlene would drop what she was doing and walk over to hug me. We had so many wonderful hours just listening, and sometimes dancing, to Emmylou through 45 years of marriage. Those memories are eternal treasures. And every song mentioned in the comments below is a worthy listen, but I'll give a special mention to Wayfaring Stranger.

Early in her career she had found a great singing partner, Gram Parsons. She was touring with him and started to make a name for herself. Unfortunately, he died suddenly from a heroin overdose. Emmylou was devastated and depressed. Linda Ronstadt took her under her wing and brought her to live with her in L.A. Linda coaxed her out of her dark place and got her some connections to restart her career and the rest is history. She has said Linda is an exceptional human being and she’ll be forever in her debt. They remain great friends. I strongly recommend that you check out “The Sound of my Voice” either on your movie channel or just for your own enjoyment. It’s a fascinating trip through Linda’s career and musical journey. Love you guys 🌺✌️

Emmy started out as total folk artist. Then Gram Parsons got her singing what he called "Cosmic American Music". Wish y'all would react to Emmylou and Gram doing LOVE HURTS or "Boulder to Birmingham" (She is from Birmingham, BTW) is a song written by Emmylou Harris and Bill Danoff which first appeared on Harris's 1975 album Pieces of the Sky. It has served as something of a signature tune for the artist and recounts her feelings of grief in the years following the death of country rock star and mentor Gram Parsons. She was also one of the first of the County Rock genre along w/ Gram and of course the Eagles.

This is the song that made me fall in love with her, as if she wasn't already one of the most beautiful women on the planet. As Willie Nelson said, if you don't love her you have never met her. Woman has almost perfect pitch and in the words of Dolly Parton just has a gift for approaching a song with the perfect technique. Check the same one out on the live Old Grey Whistle Test version - you can barely tell it from the original. Her guitar player at the time was Albert Lee, one of the very best to pick up the instrument. Also from the live OGWT is the song 'Luxury Line 40 Tons of Steel' which is some of the best guitar pickin' I've ever heard. My personal fav of hers is 'Two More Bottles of Wine'.

I love her voice. She writes many of her own songs, but her covers are wonderful. She's what I call a purist. Sings original lyrics without changing the gender when the lyrics are in 1st person, often like L Ronstadt. I 1st heard her on the radio while in art class in HS, maybe 1975. A beautiful voice was singing The Beatles tune, Here, There & Everywhere. "Who is THAT?" So began my love affair with Emmylou. I see suggestions for her duet with Gram Parsons of the Boudreaux Bryant song, Love Hurts. Good idea. It's great. Nazareth had a big hit with it in 1974. That one is worth a listen as well, if you haven't already. Blessings ❤

Emmy Lou is a traveling musician, she often backs up legends. Neil Young, James Taylor, and others. She is also is a big part of the " Oh Brother Where Art Thow" harmonizing with Allison Krauss.

I'm no country music fan at all but Emmy Lou Harris is absolutely tremendous and this song is fantastic!! Her band here is top notch with Legend Albert Lee on lead guitar!! If you like this song i know you'll love her on many others..She does a legendary version of a song with Sheryl Crow and Levon Helm called Evangeline , I saw it here on you tube. It's dynamite! Also her work with Gram Parsons is a homerun. Check it out, you will be totally satisfied and hooked on Emmy Lou just like I now am!

It sounds like country singer Rodney Crowell is singing harmony with her here. He was either in her band at one time or she sang with his band. Not sure which it was, but I’ve seen them perform together in a band. Another song, besides this one, I remember him singing harmony with her on is “Together again” with both playing guitar too, her on acoustic, him on electric. I think some other guy sang with them too. That’s a great song as well.

Check out Evangeline from The Band's The Last Waltz. Emmylou sings along with Rick Danko and Levon Helm, Robbie plays guitar, and Richard drums. It is pure perfection.

Emmylou, one of my all time favorites. Seen her live over a dozen times going back to the late 1970’s. How about some Tammy Wynette, “Til I Can Make It On My Own”.

Emmylou is an amazing songwriter. One of my favorites is "Strong Hand", a song she wrote when June Carter Cash passed away. That's another person you should listen to. Talk about country music royalty! June was from the amazing Carter Family and an artist in her own right before she married Johnny Cash. She wrote "Ring of Fire", one of the greatest songs about love ever written.
