Now... imagine being there, when hip hop was at it's beginning & this dropped... I was 13 & I remember the hood goin crazy, mix tapes, waiting to hear it etc... remember, hip hop played a hr in my area (NJ/NY). Fridays/Saturdays 98.7 & 107.5 .. if I remember correctly 9p til 10p... so u made sure ur tape deck was ready to record

Listen to it again, he mentions "E" when he refers to the DJ, and mentions "R" for himself. Rakim was the greatest Emcee and lyricist of the late 80s and 90s hands down. Definitely the Goat in hip-hop history
