I’m glad you picked up on how great that guitar is. Lindsay Buckingham is one of the very few guitarists who doesn’t use a pick. That’s all strictly finger picking. Incredible! The only other one I can think of is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straights. Listen to Sultans Of Swing (ALBUM VERSION). You’ll be absolutely blown away.

Great reaction again. As others have stated, this was Lindsey Buckingham's song to Stevie Nick regarding their break up. On the same album is Stevie Nick's song to Lindsey Buckingham ... "Dreams". The Rumors album by Fleetwood Mac is one of the great albums of all time. I think EVERYONE who grew up listening to music has this album. Still, it must have been a hard album to record for the group, as during that time, it was not just Lindsey and Stevie Nicks breaking up, but singer Christine McVie and her husband, bassist John McVie were in the midst of a divorce. Fun fact - one of the producers of the Rumors album was pop singer Colbie Caillat's dad.

Guitarist Lindsay Buckingham wrote and sings this song about the breakup from his then girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, singing backup here. Lindsay tells Stevie, 'shacking up is all you want to do' with Stevie on back up vocals, The practice sessions must have been hell.

You have an ear for talent, my friend. I've been playing 35 years, there are guitarists out there that rely on speed and flashiness, and I have my favorites in those categories too. Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac is my favorite 'slow and meaningful' guitar player, every single guitar solo he laid down on a track in those days was gold. From the same era, I consider his solo to the Fleetwood Mac song "You Make Loving Fun" is one of my top 10. The guitar 'speaks', as you stated. Based on what you revealed appeals to you about music, I'm really curious how you'd react to a few older blues guitarists. Do you take requests like on a patreon page or something?

I too love the way the drums begin with what in other hands be a rhythm-pattern for a break, bridge, or to highlight a change-up. Mick Fleetwood's roots in laying the foundation for the band when they were one of the UK's top-flight blues bands still inform his creativity and add muscle to the Buckingham/Nicks FM incarnation. Lindsey Buckingham's fingerstyle guitar always concentrates on serving the song, maximizing each note and the emotional honesty at the heart of the tune. Less is more, as the adage goes.

In August 1967, Fleetwood Mac made its live debut at the Windsor Jazz and Blues Festival in England. Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer made up the group’s lineup at the festival......Fleetwood Mac’s name comes from the last names of the original drummer and bassist: Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. But neither of them suggested that name. Original guitarist and singer Peter Green came up with the name and Fleetwood later said it was an example of Green’s selflessness.

It is one of the most fascinating 30 minute look at how a dysfunctional group of artists came together to make this masterpiece of an album. Talk about drama. I’ve been a fan of Fleetwood Mac since the mid-70s, specifically the Stevie & Lindsey saga songs. I used to mourn the fact that they didn’t make it together. Then in the late 90s, they reconnected during the filming of The Dance. Us Stevie/Lindsey shippers were over the moon! Then his ex gf Kristen showed up conveniently pregnant. 😖. Still, there were clues that Stevie & Lindsey continued to see each other anyway until Kristen threatened Divorce. So, the shippers “ship” pretty much sank. Then of course, recently Stevie had Lindsey kicked out of the band. I stopped following her then, even tho she was my personal favorite in the band lyrically/musically (tho I do feel Lindsey is a musical genius & made Stevie’s songs infinitely better than they started out being)…
