George was also a member of the super group The Traveling Wilburys, along with Jeff Lynn, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. Check out their songs "Handle With Care" and "End Of The Line".
This song was produced by Jeff Lynne (Lead singer/song writer from Electric Light Orchestra). George also wrote a song called "When We Was Fab" in which he reminisces about his time in The Beatles and Jeff Lynne produced that as well and it is definitely worth a listen! Love your content!
@@octavius8562 I don’t really classify in my life as a love song. I know it technically is at the end, but I’d rather sing my girl something to serenade her haha
I think George was the underrated Beatle. His songs that he wrote with the group are some of my favorites ("Taxman", "Within You Without You", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Here Comes the Sun" & "Something"). He was a great songwriter & had many hits when he went solo. Also love when he was part of the supergroup "The Traveling Wilburys" with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan & Tom Petty. Very talented man who left us too soon. At least we have the legacy of his music.
His best thing was the Travlin Wibury's. Awesome Band-Tom Petty, Roy, Lynn, Bob Dylan. Their song "Handle with Care" and "End of the Line" are awesome.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote about 80% of the Beatles songs however one of their most famous covered songs is “Something” which George Harrison wrote. He also wrote Taxman and While my Guitar Gently Weeps.
Hi guys! So glad to see you doing George Harrison. He was my favorite of the "fab four" and was actually called "the quiet Beatle." He produced the magical guitar sound of the Beatles and his solo stuff was great too, also this from the Travelling Wilburys (w/ George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan). Could you also please do his song "All Things Must Pass." It's so beautiful.
It’s funny how he got the “quiet Beatle” label. It seems when the Beatles first came to America he was sick so didn’t talk much, hence he was called the quiet Beatle. He was very spiritual and had a great sense of humor, cracking jokes all the time. He was my favorite
@@ohmygoshmygolly didn't he become more spiritual tho because he didn't like the fame that came with being with the Beatles. Like couldn't even go to the shops without fans and paparazzi following him?
@@richardbremner1284 On top of that he wasn’t getting any respect from Lennon and McCartney in the recording studio. Until the day he walked in with Eric Clapton to play lead on While My Guitar Gently Weeps., that is. He took a trip to India to learn from the Maharishi, he read the IChing, which told him to write what he saw. So he was in the desert and he wrote Here Comes the Sun.. those are the reasons I would call him a very spiritual person. A very good soul.
It says a lot about the talent of the Beatles - he was the forgotten one. A very good guitarist, a very good song writer, and a great vocalist. The best band ever
"Got My Mind Set on You" (also written as "(Got My Mind) Set on You") is a song written and composed by Rudy Clark and originally recorded by James Ray in 1962, under the title "I've Got My Mind Set on You". Thanks, Google!!!
This was a cover that George had a hit with. Some George written solo songs worth a listen "All Things Must Pass," "Isn't It A Pity," "What Is Life," "This is Love," "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)."
The Beatles song "Something" was written by George Harrison, John and Paul put it on the album because they were short a song. It became #1 hit, and among the most beautiful love songs ever. Harrison started the supergroup "The Traveling Wilburys" accidently.
You guys should react to the Traveling Wilburys. That was George’s post Beatles group and it was the best super group ever with George, Jeff Lynne from ELO, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and the great Roy Orbison. Handle With Care and End of the Line were big Wilbury songs
@Asia an BJ- Just to put it into some perspective. George was the first Beatle to have a number one solo album. Of course Paul and John were the two main Beatles but George was still very underaed. All things must pass is another great George song he did as a solo artists that I recommend you guys react to.
George Harrison was under utilized in the group, he didn't want to be (the quiet beatle), he had songs, but Paul and John just didn't give them enough consideration and so their songs were the the ones that monopolized every album. George was also called the "Dark Horse" which is the title of one of his songs, it's pretty cool. I love, "What Is Life", but even more I love, "Give Me Love", it's just a meaningful, beautiful song. I'm glad you now know who George Harrison is. Ringo Starr has solo recordings as well, if you care to take a look. This was really great guys! Thanks for this reaction video!
One of my favorite LPs by George Harrison was Living In A Material World, released in 1973, which #1 in the US charts for five weeks. That album contained one of his biggest hits, Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth). The title track is also well worth a listen. I'd love to see you guys react to either one.
Really recommend "All Those Years Ago", George's tribute to John. Paul McCartney on backing vocals (first time Paul and George had appeared on the same record in over a decade) and Ringo Starr on drums, it could almost be considered a Beatles reunion.
Great one guys, boy you two are on a George and Beatles roll lately and I'm not complaining. This song was originally recorded by James Ray in 1962 and George bought a copy of the single in 1963 when he was 20 while visiting his sister Louise in Illinois. Beatlemania exploded in 1963 that year in England. He was probably glad to escape it for a little bit. Years later when he was writing his "Cloud Nine" Lp he remembered the song and recorded it. The song was released as a single and hit #1 in January, 1988 on the Billboard Top 100 here in the States. See, you two just got a little George Harrison history lesson here. Yes, George was known as the quiet Beatle but he wasn't, he was just polite, soft-spoken and straight to the point. Although the youngest band member he always struck me as maybe the most mature. George was so damn cool ! Him and John were always my favorites. Lennon was one of those all time characters, highly intelligent, extremely witty and funny as hell. He could also be a big time smartass when pushed, the man was hilarious. I miss them both dearly, I really do. A couple of more great #1 hits by George are "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)" a great vibe lovely song and "Cracker Box Palace" which I love. A little bit of a humorous song about his journey through life from birth to adult life, a very thoughtful witty catchy song. I know I bug you two with this one a little bit I would love too see you guys redo his Beatles classic "Here Comes The Sun" 2019 50th anniversary remix with video from "Abbey Road" You really don't know what you're missing. Even with all of the wonderful Lennon/McCartney songs this one is the most streamed Beatles song on Spotify with close to 300 million streams currently. That alone should merit a redo. Oh well, I can always dream can't I ? Maybe one day. 👌☮️✌️💕
Yes, thanks for that detail on the song. So many think George wrote this, I did until I looked it up a couple years back. Thus in 1962 when the song was done, at lot of pop artists were using the "three chord wonder" chords, but yet the chorus on the chorus more chords than the typical three.
Greetings from Uruguay, South America. I congratulate you for reacting to the music that marked my youth and I follow you every day. I feel like part of my family. Greetings
I didn’t realize this was a cover song until recently. George did an epic job on it. Not that he needs to do covers, he has a large body of exceptional songs. When We Was Fab from this same album is a great song about his time in the Beatles.
The video for this song is hilarious, definitely worth watching. One of my favorite songs written by George Harrison when he was with the Beatles is "Taxman".
Hiya guys. Thank you for playing some George Harrison. Love this song it's so much fun. Am still missing him after all the years that he's been gone. Love y 'all. Peace. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Ringo Starr was the Beatles drummer. An interviewer once asked him if he played other instruments? Ringo said "I play some piano, pretty difficult writing songs while playing drums."
I read in some magazine they were saying that George’s first single after X number of years was a song that repeated, “I Got My Mind Set On You” x-hundred times. This song came out during my Freshman year of High School. It was the first cassette single I ever bought. I loved it then, and I still love it now! Sure, the song is just, what 2 verses looping over and over, but, the song is one big hook!
George Harrison gets overlooked in the huge shadows of (the late) John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but his skills as a lead guitarist and songwriting deserves recognition. Ringo Starr (drums) was the last member; he wasn't a prolific songwriter like the other 3... but his beats and rhythm were essential to The Beatles' sound & success.
Another thing about George being one of the Beatles, if you are like one of us baby-boomers and really know the Beatles like we do, you can hear a song like "Set On You" and hear just from the way it's put together that it's by one of the Beatles.
This song was in a very good movie called Look Whos Talking Too which is the second of three movies. The famous actors who are in these movies are John Travolta, Kirstie Ally and voice of Mikey is Bruce Willis as well as Rosanne Barr playing the voice of Julie. The movie is shot in the Vancouver British Columbia area where I am from.
This was a cover song from 1962 that George Harrison was a fan of... originally by James Ray (written by Rudy Clark) and Harrison recorded his version in 1987. To see a documentary movie on George Harrison's life, watch - "George Harrison: Living in the material world" from 2011... it captures the good & bad times of the former Beatle, who passed away in 2001 from cancer 😪
Hey kids! Late in the BEATLES before the break up..George Harrisson was writing brilliant songs...but was overshadowed by John and Paul...when the split happened..he was free to emerge..so please explore. Solo George. PS ..he founded the Traveling Wilburys... A GROUP that was ..Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan ..and Jeff Lynn._( Electric Light Orchestra)..
'Taxman', 'Something', 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', 'Here Comes the Sun'...just some of the huge hits with the Beatles. To name a few in his solo career....'Dark Horse' 'What Is Life', 'Beware of Darkness', ' Give Me Love( Give Me Peace on Earth)', 'All Those Years Ago' written about and to John Lennon .There is so much more. I could go on and on...lol
You need to watch the video, just the 2 of you, and you will enjoy the song that much more. this song came out when my kids were young and they are 42 and 40 now.
A great George Harrison song (with a young Phil Collins on the drums) is "The Art of Dying". Also check out "Fab" - it's a song about his time in The Beatles, and Ringo makes a guest appearance in the Video. Also the Beatles song "Something" which was written and sung by Harrison himself. Great video to that featuring all four members with their partners at the time. Also, as you are checking out George Harrison you should check out some Travelling Wilburys songs too - this was the super group featuring George, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison - every single one of those artists is a rabbit hole in themselves to get lost in
BJ, you are so cool 🙌😎, man, and Asia, when you smile, you light 💡 up the room, and the world becomes instantly brighter and more beautiful ... just like you !!! It's so great seeing you two enjoying yourselves.
George Harrison did a “music video” for an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1976, quite a few years before Mtv. The song is ‘Crackerbox Palace’. Would be a great reaction.
His benefit concert "concert for Bangladesh" you must check out! Billy Preston sings "That's The Way God planned it" with Clapton, Ringo, Leon Russell... incredible tracks with a band of legends. 👍💕
If you look up the MTV music video that went with this, you see George’s crazy sense of humor. He often collaborated with some of the Monty python comedy folks so their movies often had George Harrison credits. He did a lot of stuff that maybe wasn’t self promoting but more focus on the music. Check out the all star band The a traveling Wilburys who was a music group with all legends that didn’t focus on their star power but on the music. The band was Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Zorbison and Tom Petty who were active in the 1980s
I'M HAPPY JUST TO DANCE WITH YOU, I WANT TO TELL YOU, IF I NEEDED SOMEONE, I NEED YOU...4 of my most favorite Beatles songs, all written by George Harrison! Those were long b4 TAXMAN or SOMETHING but they touched me&my teenage soul, way back then. He was always lurking in the background, ready to pounce.
Good upbeat jazzy feel. Another great one was popular decades ago is Cracker Barrel Palace. If I recall right it something to do with George’s time with The Fab 4!
If you watch the video for The Travelling Wilburys End of the line then you’ll see a rocking chair with a guitar and a photograph of Roy Orbison when his verse comes on as he’d died before the video came out
Cover of a tune the original recording of which had dropped before the advent of Beatlemania, believe it or not. Having been up to not much in the '80s, this and the album that spawned it were George's "I'm back!" statement. Two versions of the official video for it were released and are worth a look.
A good choice of artist to react to! As others seem to have eluded to, he was very subdued in his personality, but what a great contribution he made to music both as a band member, and as a solo artist. I have a favourite song that you might want to react to - 'Cheer Down' from the film soundtrack of Lethal Weapon II, with Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Patsy Kensit. It was featured at the beginning of the film's "outdo credits". Keep up the good work! Thanks T (UK based)
Yes, George Harrison was known as "the quiet" Beatle. He let John Lennon and Paul McCartney have more of the limelight. George was a great songwriter and the more spiritual one. He had a great solo career. Check out the 1st Beatles movie, "Hard Days Night". He was so funny with his dry English humor! George was always my favorite Beatle too!!
4 as one...The Beatles...George was very important to that mix. He was the LEAD FREAKING GUITAR of the best rock and roll group in history. And a damn fine songwriter and singer whose prodigious talent was actually under-utilized in the group (as later proven in his solo career). But his contributions with the Beatles were enormous.
This song is a fun and light from George. Recommend you try 'Blow Away', 'Give Me Love', 'All Things Must Pass', 'Isn't It a Pity' and 'If Not For You' - as well as the other recommendations in the comments 😊
I think George was forced into "the quiet one" label because John and Paul wrote as a pair and obviously created great stuff. George had a difficult time being heard but luckily it happened eventually. His solo stuff is great as are the songs he wrote for The Beatles like Here Comes the Sun and Something. Very underrated. Don't take it personally that we all flipped because you didn't know who he was 😂.
Loved this song growing up when my dad would play it in the car... but wow, I realize the lyrics are a remedial 4th grade poetry assignment that got a C-
George was the 1st of the former Beatles to have a #1 song (My Sweet Lord), and he was the last former Beatle to have a #1 song (the one you're reacting to now).
The Beatles "Something" written by George Harrison and I think one of the Beatles best songs !! He certainly was a great song writer ,unfairly overshadowed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon's songwriting
Also check the Traveling Wilburys. A Supergroup with George, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. Handle With Care and End of the Line are two great songs.
Gotta do "Give Me Love" and "What is Life" next by George - they were earlier in his solo career after the Beatles. George was a fine guitar player and never got enough credit for it, cause he _always_ played for the _song_ rather than a flashy solo part.
