George was such a talented guy and he had a lovely sense of humour (as we can all see from this video) He's also responsible for The Travelling Wilburys with Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison and all the incredible stuff they produced back in the '80's.❤

In the early 60s the Beatles were a pop band, later in the 60s they turned into a psychedelic progressive hard rock band who also dabbled in focus. They are labeled classic rock, but they also could be labeled British invasion. They were pretty eclectic.

George loved to mess with people. He had the Traveling Wilburys call their 2nd album 'Volume 3' just because he knew people would be confused and be looking for volume 2. Tons of other examples but that's quick one

Before Phil Collins was famous, he played conga drums for a song on georges album, it ended up not being released. Some people doubted whether Phil even jammed with him or not. One day George sent Phil 'proof': a tape of the song with fake and terribly bad conga drum playing, ultra loud

"Has an 80s vibe" actually it is a remake James Ray's 1963 R&B version, which was not a hit, but has all the same bouncing elements as Harrison's. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k68Fob0QA_k.html

@@johncagnettajr344 The Beatles ARE "BRITISH INVASION" They STARTED IT !! After them, came THE DAVE CLARK FIVE, THE ROLLING STONES, THE SEARCHERS, HERMAN and THE HERMITS, WAYNE FONTANA & the MINDBENDRS, THE WHO, THE ANIMALS, THE MOODY BLUES, THE YARDBIRDS, THE HOLLIES, GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS, CHAD & JEREMY, PETER & GORDON, THE TREMELOES, and singers DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, LULU, PETULA CLARK, CILLA BLACK, and MANY more. I know I have probably left some out. These were ALL BRITISH GROUPS and SINGERS that practically took over the music in the U.S. from 1964 through 1970. George Harrison, what can I say that hasn't already been said, "All Things Must Pass" is such a powerful album that it deserves a review in its entirety. Before Beatlemania! hit America in 1964, they appeared on Ed Sullivan, released their first film "A Hard Day's Night" and 3rd LP of the same name, but it was 60 yrs ago that the Beatles recorded & released "Love Me Do" & "Please Please Me" in the UK which skyrocketed the Fab Four to fame. Early on they would perform cover songs of their favorite artists at "The Cavern Club" in Liverpool. Some of their most famous covers are "Twist & Shout" "Roll Over Beethoven" "Please, Mr. Postman" "You Really Got A Hold On Me" & "Money (That's What I Want)." I highly suggest, if you really want to peek behind the curtain, watching the Peter Jackson documentary "Get Back" on Disney+ which shows their process of writing, recording & reheasing songs in January 1969... climaxing with their final live performance as The Beatles. Great review as always, keep up the good work!

It's more interesting because he admitted that he has not heard any or much Beatles music, so HOW would he KNOW WHAT sort of music the Beatles did? I KNOW he has NO IDEA the VARIETY of music they created! IF he goes through the whole Beatles catalogue, he will then realize how amazing they were.

You should check out songs written by George Harrison, Paul and John get most of the credit for Beatles songwriting, but George was a prolific songwriter and wrote many of the Beatles and Traveling Wilbury's songs. Two things about this song and the video. First is the James Ray version A .K. A the original from 1962. George heard it the first time when he was with the Beatles in New York when they were doing the Ed Sullivan Show and song stuck with him ever since. The second thing is there is two music videos for this song. Both were directed by the same guy, Gary Weis and they are very different. The first video stars a young Alexis Denisof of Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel fame trying to win the heart of a girl at an amusement park/arcade. The second one is the one you guys watched and is know as version II. It was inspired by Evil Dead II which came out that year but has George's well known sense of humor sprinkled in. This version was the most played one on MTV and was nominated for three VMA's in 1987.

Love this song and video, however it is unusual because I'm pretty sure George Harrison wrote all his other hits. One of my favorites of his as a solo artist is "What Is Life" (1970). He wrote did lead vocals on The Beatles song "Something"(1969) which is one of the most covered songs of The Beatles. FYI, The Beatles broke up in 1970 and all 4 members started solo careers then. One of my favorite Paul McCartney solo songs is "Maybe I'm Amazed", John Lennon solo "Instant Karma" and Ringo Starr solo "Photograph" written with George Harrison. The Beatles as a group had so many hits and I love almost every one of their songs. Some favorites: "I Saw Her Standing There", "Help", "Drive My Car", "Hey Bulldog", "It's All Too Much", "Across the Universe", "Taxman", "Yellow Submarine" and I could go on.

For a few great solo Beatles songs Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" "Band On The Run" "Live And Let Die" all #1 hits and great songs since your exploring classic rock at this time. If you haven't seen the official video for John Lennon's "Imagine" then its a must watch. Harrison's "What Is Life " from his first solo Lp "All Things Must Pass" released in 1970 and "My Sweet Lord" all so from this Lp are both great. Last Ringo Starr's "The No No Song" hilarious and really good along with "Your Sixteen" and "Photograph" all big hits. Hope to see a few of these. You can never go wrong with Beatles or solo Beatles. Let me throw four Beatle ones at you from their last album Abbey Road released in September 1969. John Lennon's "Come Together" "I Want You" (She's So Heavy") both killer songs, the latter is crazy great. McCartney's "Oh Darling" WOW ! and Harrison's "Here Comes The Sun" a true must hear. The most streamed Beatles song on Spotify with over 700 million streams. Any if these that you might do make sure they're the "Abbey Road" 2019 50th anniversary remixes. The sound is incredible, like crazy incredible! "Here Comes The Sun" has a very nice video with it. Peace and love guys

WHY start with "Paperback Writer"? That is silly. If they are going to dive into the Beatles "rabbit hole" they NEED to do it correctly and start from the Beatles FIRST single "LOVE ME DO" and their FIRST ALBUM "PLEASE PLEASE ME," and then go CHRONOLOGICALLY from there to "LET IT BE" and ABBEY ROAD" 1962 through 1970 when they broke up as a band. THAT is the ONLY WAY they will APPRECIATED HOW MUCH the Beatles music EVOLVED and PROGRESSED in just 8 years. I don't understand why people want to start their Beatles journey at the end of their time or the middle of their career. Would you start a BOOK at the END or in the MIDDLE, instead of the BEGINNING? I don't think so.

The '80s affected everyone, regardless of who they were or where they came from. You were going to hear gated drums, loads of sax, and synths galore. It was inevitable and unavoidable.

The Beatles came from the port city of Liverpool alot of the sailors who travelled to America in the post world war 2 years came back with records from black American musicians and singers so this was popular in the years the Beatles grew up in.
