@jeffdetmer4681
@jeffdetmer4681 2 года назад
The Man in Black is also Johnny Cash (you should check out Cash's song The Man in Black) The Red Headed Stranger is Willie Nelson, Hello Darlin' is a huge hit single for Conway Twitty. Wabash Cannonball was closely associated with Roy Acuff, who hosted the Grand Ole Opry for many years and was a legendary performer as well. The outlaw who walked through Jessie's dreams refers to Waylon Jennings who was recognized as one of the "Outlaws" of Country Music and was married to Jessie Colter. Luke the Drifter refers to Hank Williams Sr. Marty is Marty Robbins, Hank might be another reference to Hank Williams or possibly Hank Locklin, Lefty is the great Lefty Frizzell. This was released in 1985. There are some wonderfully talented young performers and writers in Nashville today. Problem is they are turned away by "Country" radio and music labels for being too country. So everything is Country Pop and all sounds the same.

My dad hated my music. I can't get into my kid's music. I don't question their musical talent, I'm simply too old to relate. It's just the course we are on. However, as a young adult, I took a dive into my old man's music and now it's my favorite genre. As a father of an adult, I'm seeing the same pattern. My 22 year old son texts me often about what grunge band to catch up on next. It's a nice moment. Nobody now can fill last generation's shoes. It would be unfair to ask. But, they can keep the baton going. Great reaction as always.

I'm reading the book "Forever And Ever Amen" by Randy Travis. It refers to this song and some of the insiders of country music thinks that he was referring to Randy Travis. Which would have made since because Randy Travis did come one of those greatest.

Unsure if you've heard Merle Haggards "Rollin Downhill" but it's an amazing song. Definitely worth a listen!

George Jones was considered the best of his day. Waylon Jennings the outlaw who walks through Jesse's dreams is quoted to have said, we all want to sing like George Jones. I'd recommend he stopped loving her today as another George Jones must hear.
