I feel this song is from the first few years after the revolution, a lot of iranian artists from that era had to flee Iran ,so there was naturally a lot pain and nostalgia in many songs from those years. Maybe this one is about Iran , I don't know , I could be wrong.

I tell you the story behind this song : leyla kasra ( hediyeh) the poet who wrote this songs lyrics and many others for other singers too , was close friend with haydeh unfortunately she had cancer , before releasing of this song and the album she passed away ..during her treatment haydeh was beside her all the time ..and as you may realized from the translation the song is about a trip buddy or partner which when he is not around the other person is not even aware of himself or herself , who can be the company and replacement ..during that era which was post revolution and war , for many iranian who were exiles . Generally absence of some one very close

When I was 10 years old I was in Hayedeh concert. It was a warm night of fall. In south of Iran we have milled fall. The concert was in a open area our sits and table was on the grass. After couple of song she said please everyone be absolute quite. I want to sing whiteout microphone. In the open area she sang some how that shaked everyone's heart. Her voice without a microphone and no music and the way she did Tahrir, she melt everybody's heart. I never forget how her voice made me fall in love with Tahrir.

When you're not here, I loose myself... I have no idea why people request you to react to the songs that mostly concentrate on the lyrics,and very deep and emotional lyrics that if you do not understand, it would be hard to completely bond with, and even if the case, they need to either send you the translation or send a link with subs.True everyone can connect to any music in the world, but if it's centered on the wording, knowing the meaning is a must. Especially that as Iranians, we grew up with this type of music, these artists and we love Haydeh as our legend, but for someone new to our music, someone not familiar with this voice, definitely the beauty of it all is clearer when the meaning is understood, as only then the sound can be more enjoyable. hayedeh's best friend was a poet nicknamed hadieh (gift). she had cancer which eventually took her life. for years while she was sick, she wrote many beautiful emotional songs about her battle which hayedeh sang to. this song is probably after hadieh died. hayedeh died 6 months later at 48. sad ending to such iranian legends. the revolution killed them. I believe this song is in memory of her friend. it says when you're not around, I've lost track of myself. who's gonna come and be my companion. my heart is not apart from you, my sorrows are not anymore few. it gets even more heart wrenching, I don't wanna get too deep into it.

here is my view : "when you are absent i am not aware of myself " it means you were present someday , you existed , you created memories.... so it is hard to pass by all of them and find myself again ... " you "could be 1-god ( when we were in heaven) 2-love(when you were in him/her arms) 3-country( when you have to leave it ) 4- etc the point is "you" are needed to make me find myself ...when you are not here how can i fill the space that can be filled only with you? a piece of puzzle is lost ...

well', you got some parts wrong. she is invited to a tv show and they play her last music which is this song. so yes, she is actually watching her own video and thats why she looks up. getting emotional is for the concept of music about being far from home land and beloved ones. she says all the bridges behind are broken.

You got the points and the sense just one thing and they is that she means a true companion and friend. Yeah you’re right the background is sky and she’s looking upside which can imply the God (when you’re absent) but that is just the theme to make the song more romantic and shows melancholy of absence of the right love/companion (someone like ‘imaginary-intimate) if that make sense.
