Great reaction! You're right about the effects during the performances as the competition gave them a certain number of days to choose the next song and he decided to re-arrange this song by Jay Chou. In the show they show him recording harmonies for the live performance because he wanted a bigger sound. The last two songs he performances haas no added effects as the finale is a live show.

Jessie J was one of the contestants on the show. She won the contest that year and Hua Hua came second.

I can add some things from the show. Every singer are allowed to make two of there own songs per season, but no more. So most of there songs are covers, but Hua Chenyu changed his songs a lot from the originals. Hua Chenyu had a theme year 2018. Everyone of his songs shows a side of his childhood or youth so I guess he trained nunchucks as a kid.

Was ich an diesem Arrangement wirklich brillant finde ist, dass sich der Text im Musik Arrangement widerspiegelt. Nunchucks sind hart und weich. Genauso hat das Arrangement weiche ( der Anfang, die bridge) und harte ( der Rap, Rock) Teile. Faszinierend. Ich habe HuaHua vor 4 Jahren gefunden. well another great ride this one is new to me I wouldnt have found this one to me kind of pop rap and in some points (slower parts) kind of traditional sound in the background it isnt real strong but can be heard at points all in all a pretty strong performance thanks for this ride it was fun and different as always your ride or die forever EyyyOooo

Bullfighting, Madhouse, Jackdaw Boy, and Aliens are great for the rockier side, his cover songs of Child, Wayfarer & ordinary path are all very special. If you want something that will tug at your heart, then I really want to love this world or I want myself back, but a warning, he goes right into his performances and re-lives his songs meaning his sad/emotional works are enough to emotionally destroy a lot of people.

He's got some stage presence. I love the contrast in this song, starts off haunting then comes the rapping, then the traditional Chinese opera sound and back around again. I dislike English language rapping but for some reason Chinese rapping sounds so good. Love your reaction Rosalie. This is Singer 2018, Jessie J was one of the contestants that year, she actually won the show that year. Most of the people you see are either contestants or their show partners (Jessie J's show partner is the grey haired gentleman sitting next to her, and he is also acting as her interpreter). The audience are the real judges, as their votes are what lets the contestants need to stay. That's why these performances are so usually over the top, you need to audience to remember your performance, no matter where you are singing in the line up.

Thanks for finally doing Hua Chenyu. He is truly a magical performer, singer and song writers. This was a great performance, but unfortunately, it is not his own song. In Singer 2018, the first year he competed, he could only sing some of his own songs, because of the rules of the program. Jessi J was actually an invited competitor that year as well. Singer (formerly I am Singer) was a great show, tremendous production quality, where established singers competed for audience votes. Participation was by invitation only. I know of no other comparable Western TV show like it. The talent was outstanding. That year, 2018, Jessie J won overall, Hua Chenyu came in second, but he was invited to compete again a couple of years later and won. For this evening's performance though, Hua Chenyu was most popular. I am looking forward to your next Hua Chenyu reaction. It is a joy to watch your enthusiasm.

The “bridge” was Chinese opera - very traditional, Chinese classical sound and stylings. That’s why the audience looked so pleased and were applauding. I grew up in Singapore and was often treated to that, when small troupes of traveling performers set up performances in open spaces. This guy is ultra-versatile and unique - no other performer could do anything close. One could watch him for hours 🤯

Hua Chinyu (pronounced like watching you) got Jessie J on her feet. He can sing in multiple voices, more than he showed here, like he does in "Seven Personalities". Another singer that could voice every character in an anime, even if they are singing, is Zhou Shen.

The original song Nunchucks is a pure rap song which HuaHua rearranged into this 🤯. They were only allowed to sing 2 of their own songs in the singer 2018 season the rest have had to be covers. HuaHua's own songs in this season are the songs Qi Tian and I don't care. Artists are limited in the number of their own songs they can perform over the whole competition. Fortunately Hua Chenyu is an absolute wizard arranger as well, so he was able to completely transform the original in this way. He has a tremendous stage presence, though he's very unassuming off stage. The Martians will descend on your channel if you carry on reviewing his material, so I won't push my own choices hard ('I Am What I Am', 'Fake Monk'). I see you noticed the participants in Green Room at the end (she was competing herself as an overseas contestant in this series), Hua Chenyu mentors artists in talent shows in China, one song that is a must to see is Nanping Evening Bell, another arrangement, with 24 hours notice, that he sings with contestant (Juno) Su Shuding.

Huahua has become such a talent. He has a very heavy hand in the arrangement of what he performs. AND he writes his own music as well. He is multi-talented and one of my most listened to playlists. Chinese pop has become one of my top genres to listen to and no 👀I can't speak or understand Mandarin. I think I enjoy the incorporation of traditional instruments and musicality (which you'll hear throughout Huahua's music) with modern music. There are many other reasons too. Funny thing is, it's the only pop music I listen to. LOL You should also check out Zhou Shen. Anything and everything he sings is a work of art. ✌❤😎

I loved his choice of songs. Interesting as a lifelong practitioner of martial arts the Nunchaku are a less deadly form of weapon. They can be used to kill but rarely. Then the lyrics about climbing the mountain and joining the Shaolin priesthood is inspiring. He took the audience to their roots. Nice.

Huahua joined on episode 4, Jessie J joined on the first episode, Jessie J is the grand champion of this project. The background harmony was recorded by huahua leading a group of people singing. Huahua joined The singer 2020 too, he is the grand champion of the season, huahua only got to sing 2 of his songs in 2018, in 2020 nearly all of the songs are his. There was no effect on the microphone or any back tracks... it was a Singing competition. They just have backup singers at the back... Also it's not just the singing but they required to be given a song & rearrange/rewrite it in less than 2 days to preform. You should react more his videos.

The original version of "Nunchucks" was actually composed and sung by Jay Chou. The Hua Chenyu version is a cover. You should check the original. Jay Chou has been the most prolific composer in Mandopop for the last 20 years with 15 albums. Some songs I recommend. Wounds Of War, My Territory, Chaotic Dance Of Spring And Autumn, Nocturne, Blue Storm, Chapter 7. His 4th, 5th, and 6th albums are absolutely timeless masterpieces.

Thanks for the reaction. But this was kinda the last few good performances of Hua. And he is hardly the best representative for China. A lot of the Hua fans here are gonna be angry. He's gotten complacent and become reliant on his pretty face, performative performances, and stage presence than his vocal abilities, honestly. I mean he did have good ability, but he's been focusing on his popularity than his singing abilities. Recently a lot of videos of him going out of tune while performing live has come to light. His fans are probably gonna make lots of excuses for him. Lol. Let's see.
