Alright Amanda! A Halestorm reaction! And one of my all time favorite songs of theirs. You nailed from the start. It's about being addicted to the drama of a bad relationship but not the person. You don't miss the person but you miss the misery. So glad you did this song. Not a reaction song but listen to Black Vultures by Halestorm. It's one of my motivational fight song during tough times. Halestorm is an amazing band. Lzzy is a force of nature and the band is excellent. They are amazing live. Thanks for all you do. Keep fighting the good fight.

Great reaction. You are spot on with your observations. One additional thing to be considered is when the victim goes from the abused to the abuser. Say for example, she gets away from this toxic relationship, and then in her following relationships she finds that she becomes the abuser. Maybe at first, she preemptively abuses, expecting the worst from the new guy, and after that it become habitual, her having found that she likes to be in charge. She might intentionally flirt at the bar with a guy with the purpose of her guy walking in on them, and the fireworks begin. We have seen her in concert a couple of times, and believe me, no recording or video can capture just how powerful her voice really is. She is just fantastic. Best wishes.

I mentioned this song before but another song from Halestorm to check out is Back From The Dead. The video takes place in a hospital morgue. The song is about Lzzy dealing with depression. Lzzy is known for her screams, which aren't just screams, she's actually wailing away in her songs. There's a live version of this.... quality not as good but the scream in the beginning she holds for 29 seconds. Thanks Amanda! Definitely a little 'tongue in cheek' posturing. But I'm power makes it impossible to ignore! Lzzy is an awesome vocalist and this track is a good introduction to the power she commands! But she also diverse. She has an amazing collaboration with The Hu titled SONG OF WOMEN... didn't see any videos in your catalog with reaction to The Hu. An amazing story of their own, but the pairing with Lzzy is a beautiful blend of their style and her beautiful interpretation of their cultural tribute to women. If you don't react publicly, it's still worth 5 minutes of your time! Ciao

not in a relationship, but the anxiety cycle you describe seems to be my constant state of life: can't enjoy when things are going well, because I keep waiting for the bad to come. It ALWAYS does, good things don't happen to me without bad things in equal measure come soon after. That seems to be the entire track of my life...
@anthonyvalentine9685

I know I'm kind of late to this one, but I'm here now. This post out of all of them complled me to speak. Everyone in life has a path and choices along that path. Every obstacle in life is an opportunity to learn and grow. Sure they are all difficult, but that's what makes then useful. The same way that a difficult sudoku puzzle taxes your logic circuits, or heavy weight taxes your body at the gym, life taxes your soul. When you endure and triumph over adversity in your life, learn from your experience and grow your soul into something stronger, you win! By solving the puzzle, or pushing out those last few reps that you know deep down you can make, you win. An easy life doesn't teach you anything but dependence. Instead of fearing the next challenge in your life you should look forward to it. That is exactly what you need to become the person you are meant to be.

I saw Halestorm live in 2019. I was less than 20 ft. from the stage. Oh my God, Lzzy being that close to me, I almost blacked out from the headrush. I couldn't believe how beautiful and powerful she was from up close. I have loved Halestorm since about 2006 or so. Seeing them live was a dream come true for me. I'm not typically into girls with short hair, but I would make an exception for Lzzy any day. When I heard her voice, the same voice that has sung me to sleep before, I was completely overwhelmed by this rush of mental stimulation. I was exactly where I needed to be that night. I felt like, in some ways, I had some form of closure after dealing with years of depression and suicidal thoughts. All those feelings I had been feeling finally broke away, and I was more secure in the eye of the storm. The memories haven't faded, but since then, they haven't hurt quite as bad. I felt like I was more grounded on a strong foundation knowing that I had been able to see someone right in front of me that had been helping me get through so much crap I was going through for years before that. Thank you, Lzzy. I hope to see Halestorm again before they reitre. I need them in my life for however long I live. Keep it metal. \m/

I remember the first time I had this kind of relationship. It took 4 years, the loss of a really good job, and suicide considerations to finally walk away. Again, I said I remember the first time. I think I'm in one again. Toxic. It's taken me 18 years to get it, yet I knew subconsciously within the first year. Words... I'm working on it. Hang in there folks

Also I have a recommendation for another song by halestorm it's called "you call me a bitch like it's a bad thing" it is a banger. Also fun fact lzzy is bisexual and she is open about it and also she does alot for mental health outreach and advocates for it, also lzzy and her brother AreJay started this band when they were in there teens they took piano at first then her brother transitioned to drums and she went on to learn guitar and vocals and the rest as they say is history.

As a guy I love this! Being the nice guy I always finish last, too all the assholes she talks about in this song. I have always tried to be “The person you wanted” but I can never be. The toxic person can be fixed, and it didn’t matter what I did. I’m so sorry for anyone that goes through this abuse, cause that’s what it it is, just please take off the blinders, possibly sacrifice your ego of being a “repairman “ and pay attention to what’s in front of you.

You are 100% correct. It's NOT YOUR fault that someone ELSE is an ass. For instance, I'm 6'2" and 220lbs, I was dating a 4'11" 85lb sweet as could be girl. She would BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF ME! because "I know you won't hit me like my ex did". She didn't do it because she was mad, she JUST DID IT, because she knew I wouldn't HIT HER! Years later, I re-connected with my kindergarten girlfriend that had just gone through a divorce. The previous Christmas, her ex threw a cup of coffee on her after she made it for him because it was too this or not enough that... so after having it thrown on her, she made him another cup of coffee... and he threw it on her "just because". So when I began dating her, she TRIED to piss me off and start a fight because THAT was all she'd known for YEARS! Needless to say I said "good luck with that". BUT, MANY DO "Miss the misery, don't miss him at all". And women say "if I could only meet a nice guy". HA!!

Based on this video this seems like something you might be interested in digesting... Following on from this in terms of female vocalists in this genre and the topic of toxic relationships, my mind came to Lacey Sturm's "Vanity and Rot". It's technically two songs but they directly lead into each other as if they're one, so I'd recommend the combined lyric video rather than the separated official versions. The first half ("Vanity") is essentially just an argument between her and toxic/abusive bf, and the second half ("Rot") is more like an actual song which ends up with a little more hope. Both parts are necessary to get the full story. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XR34Cho5kPU.html&ab_channel=ParamoretheMachine Alternative interpretations I've read are that it's actually an internal battle but even that is on the topic of mental health. Another take is that it's a religious dilemma which is less on topic.

I would like to see a harder line drawn between consensual BDSM and toxic, abusive relationships. These are different animals altogether. Consent being one of the big differences, but not the only one. In abusive relationships one person is looking for a partnership, while the other is playing immature and harmful games. In a BDSM relationship, the games are discussed and agreed upon beforehand in a sober conversation with no coercion. If someone is incapable of being mature about it, then the other can walk, and should. Too many times people want to equate the two, and they aren't alike. Just my thought. Halestorm is awesome, and I adore Lzzy.

I thought I was clear in separating them, as I very much understand the difference. Thank you for clarifying further for me!

@@MentalAmanda I may be a little touchy. Too many folks in the world who want to shame where shame isn't deserved. I may not participate in every niche thing, I will defend consensual relationships of whatever sort that increases happiness for all involved. Just as a moral stance.
