Joe Walsh is one of the greatest bunch of guys I know. He loved to party, to excess. The song's story is all true. One of the great guitarists. Went on to join The Eagles who wanted to be more of a rock band than they were and Joe gave them that which made them a much better band. He was crazy and sometimes go on stage dressed in pajamas. He was a free spirit to say the least. "Rocky Mountain Way".

I have seen him perform this song 6 times with the Eagles in the last 10 years and let me tell you he steals the show every time!! He is just such an awesome musician, performer but mostly just so fun to watch and watch his face lol!! Maybe you might get a last chance to see him on the tour that has just been announced with the Eagles!

Joe attended Kent State and he was present during the Kent State massacre in 1970. In 2012 Walsh commented: "Being at the shootings really affected me profoundly. I decided that maybe I don't need a degree that bad." so he dropped out. "Ohio" is a song about the massacre by Neil Young. 🤙

Gary and carolyn, I'm sure you probably have it, but on the "updated" DVD (it's only been put for about 20 years lol) there are special features including an in depth interview with director Walter Hill. He likens the story in the movie to a thousands years old war that took place in ancient Roman times. Very incisive. The set director, the lighting guy are all interviewed. Awesome stuff. Cheers.

Yes I’ve seen it. I have both versions of the movie on DVD. It’s actually based on a book called The Warriors, though it’s a lot different from the movie. I haven’t read it yet but I did buy it. It’s still about a gang trying to get home but there’s no Baseball Furies, and I think the characters are a lot younger.

Yes, but be careful which version you play. The version on the "Warriors" ST is the one you want. That's Joe with his solo band. The Eagles have a version that doesn't suck but it's pale in comparison to the soundtrack version.

You need to hear Joe do this live in concert to really appreciate it. The Eagles did over two hours in Sydney Australia back in '04; only this and Hotel California got 'em up and dancing!

Gotta love Joe! Great guitarist. Plays everything, lead, bass, acoustic, slide.. even synthesizer and keyboards. Sweet crazy Joe just partied like waaaayyy too much in the 60s and burnt some serious brain cells. But he is a fun lovable guy. He appeared on an old VH-1 show called Rock and Roll Jeopardy with Mark McGrath and Graham Nash as contestants. When they reached final Jeopardy, his scores was like -1200. Joe thought that was hilarious. So did we. Fun stories… you can find about Joe. After Kent State, life for Joe turned to fun and music. ❤️

Joe will step off stage and fight. Live is stunning with his guitar solos. He ran for president on the; "Continual Party". Also, he joined the Eagles when they were in turmoil and saved them from disbanding. Joe is super level-headed seen, done it all.

Joe Walsh ran around with Keith Moon of the Who back in the 70s. He said it was an amazing great and terrifying time if only he could remember any of it now after being sober. Unfortunately Joe was the only one who survived the 70s

Yes, Mr. Walsh has gone thru hell & back! Most of us that witnessed his career firsthand are amazed & happy that he lived thru it & is now a sober & somewhat happy dude, a proud member of THE Eagles band! He did destroy quite a few hotel rooms, and, like Keith Moon of The Who, was banned by certain hotels bc of their destructive natures! Not hard to understand their point of view. But, great song to react to!

JOE WALSH WAS FROM THE SAME NECK OF THE WOODS AS I COME UP IN . WE BOTH GRADUATED THE SAME YEAR IN THE SAME COUNTY, BUT NOT THE SAME SCHOOLS. I SEEN JOE PLAY AT CLUBS A HUNDRED TIMES. This album was step 1 of getting Joe into the Eagles. He was on ABC/Dunhill, which was bought out by MCA. The Eagles were brought to Asylum Records by Jackson Browne. So Joe managed to get out of his MCA deal and sign with Asylum. This was his first LP on Asylum. His very next album was on the Eagles' "Hotel California." But seriously, folks, "But Seriously, Folks" is an outstanding album. Every song is a keeper. His NEXT album, "There Goes the Neighborhood," was also outstanding. Please check out "Rivers (Of the Hidden Funk)," "A Life of Illusion" and "Things." Really great stuff!

Joe doesn't have anything else that has this perfect mix of humor and good rockin'. But he does have plenty of great tracks. I'd recommend Rocky Mountain Way, Funk #49, with his early band, the James Gang. He has a great live track with the Eagles called Hotel California from 1977. You might have to do the studio version unless you can do all the little tricks people do to get past the copyright.

I know the Stones song Star Star by its original name. It, I would recommend. Careful, it uses the "F" word.

While many folks look at SRV, Hendrix, Page, Beck, Clapton as their guitar heroes, when I was a kid this guy Joe Walsh was the player that caught my ear and got me into the guitar. Little side note: Everytime I see on a video of this song the phrase "How ya doin?" pop up I think of meeting Joe. I was lucky and got back stage at Farm Aid and Joe was completely cool and shook alot of peoples hands as we passed by him. And when he shook the guys hand next to me he said "How ya doin??" just exactly how youd imagine Joe Walsh talking if you ever listen to an interview with him. Great memory, great show, great guitarist and just one of the guys. ✌🏻😎👍🏻

Joe Walsh is such a great guitarist for the last 50 yrs. The James Gang and the best move the Eagles ever made was putting Don Felder and Joe Walsh together. They were so dang good. Songs to listen to.....Walk Away, All Night Long, In the City, Life’s Been Good, Funk #49 and Rocky Mountain Way are a must !!!

You should check out the supergroup Damn Yankees comprised of guitarist Ted Nugent, Styx's Tommy Shaw, Night Ranger's Jack Blades and drummer Michael Cartellone. I would suggest starting with the live video "Come Again". Be prepared to rock!

I was scrolling thru RU-vid looking for something to listen to and saw this. Omg I love Joe Walsh and he is a great guitarist. He has done a lot of work. When I was partying around in 10th grade the song Rocky Mountain Way was almost my anthem 🤣 this is a later song after he got rich. Now in the cruising seat he wrote this wonderful gem. It is funny. It is real. Love the man, love the song. Now he was chilling in millions of dollars. "I lock my doors in case I'm attacked" bahahahaha being famous can be trying I suppose. You can tell us about it bruh!

Joe Walsh is the living example of rock and roll excess. Tearing out hotel walls is a literal reference to some of his experiences. He’s stone cold sober now but the drugs and booze took a toll that you can hear in the way he speaks now. He is Ringo Starr’s brother in law btw. Makes for some cool jams. The looking for clues at the scene of the crime line is also autobiographical. He once said something to the effect of “the stories you’ve heard are true: I don’t remember them, but I’ve read the police reports”. Oh and for my money, he is one of the most original guitar players ever.

People tease Joe a lot about how iconoclastic he is, but he wins in the end. As this song attests, he's a pretty grateful guy. There are plenty of people who *could* have enjoyed their great and fortunate careers but they chose not to instead. There's real wisdom in that. On top of being one of the great guitarists in the Eagles, (in the live version of Hotel California you did), he's also Ringo Star's brother in law. There's a Thanksgiving conversation I'd love to listen in on.

Joe is a genuine Rock n Roll legend. Dolly Parton once quipped that it cost a lot of money to look that cheap, It could be said of Joe's guitar work - do you know how technical you have to be to make this stuff sound so easy.
