First Time Reaction to Joe Walsh - Life Is Good

Life's Been Good - The lyrics are true. He was still under contract for 1 more solo album when he joined the Eagles, and this was on it. If you don't know about Keith Moon of the Who, he was a hyper active terror doing all kinds of crazy stunts. The Who was banned for life from Holiday Inns. Joe did some of his own stunts like getting 2 rooms side by side and cutting out the wall because they didn't have a suite. but he was in on some of Keith's stunts. Joe Walsh Quote - "The most terrifying thing that ever happened to me was that Keith Moon decided he liked me."

Joe is certainly a character ❤, I loved when he was on "Daryl's House" it was great. Joe and Daryl and his guys awesome combo.

i thought once Walsh joined the Eagles for the Hotel California LP he wasn't gonna have time to do any more solo records..Then the next year, he records this awesome set..He really was suddenly hugely famous and rich, so he spoofed it with this no.1 song. (In fact both hits from Hotel Cali and his own were playing all over the radio at the same time!)

Joe Walsh is an amazing guitarist. He played the trombone and clarinet in his school band and switched to the guitar.

Joe Walsh has to be the coolest man in music. Definitely someone you'd like to spend time with.

Tasha Joe Walsh is also known as "Clown Prince" of Rock. Prior to joining Eagles, he was in another band called James Gang. I have seen Joe Walsh live in concert twice: 1st in 2002 with Eagles and 2nd as solo artist opening act for his buddy, Joe Petty and Heartbreakers in 2017. That concert in 2002, Joe Walsh was wearing a helmet with a camera on the front showing audience members as he jams. During Live at Daryl's House, Joe with Daryl Hal jammed this classic with Joe updated the lyrics for current day. By the way, Joe Walsh has a famous brother-in-law. Brother-in law is Beatles' Ringo Starr. Joe is married to Ringo's wife, Barbara Bach's sister.

LIFE'S BEEN GOOD was a great solo of his, as well as ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY, IN THE CITY, etc. When he was still with James Gang he played lead on THE BOMBER on the album James Gang Rides Again - one of my favorites. That funky little instrument in the middle is called an African Thumb Piano.

The irony is while the lyrics are delivered in a tongue-in-cheek way, many of them are actually true.

I know you guys did the Eagles Hotel California Live, in the past..If you remember the 2 guitarists, the one guy had the double neck guitar, Joe is the other guitarist..Amazing guitarist..He's also a great slide guitarist, that he learned from Duane Allman...Been around a long time..He first hit it big with his band "The James Gang", and joined the Eagles later on...He is also Ringo Starr's brother in law..They married sisters. He often performs with Ringo's All-Star Band, as well...There's some really good stuff of Joe playing with Daryl Hall (from Hall & Oates) on Hall's YT channel "Daryl's House."..That's a great channel with all kind's of people dropping in that Daryl play's with. Really good stuff!..Should check it out..I think you'll love it.

Joe is a most versatile man... not only an incredible musican, but a HAM radio operator, I believe he is a pilot, humanitarian, ... just a neat guy....

His solo albums are achingly original. His work with The James Gang are Hall of Fame anthems. And yet, during this era, Joe was a member of The Eagles (literally America's Band), yet he was woefully underutilized by that stalwart American institution. In the final sting of this song he references a couple of his riffs from Life In The Fast Lane. Pure Joe. I encourage anyone who loves rock & roll to delve into his entire discography. You will never be disappointed.

This true is story. He says, Touring so much he was almost never home Hence has a mansion but never stays there. Also, he lost his wallet with his license in it, never replaced it. Hence, he lost his license, so now he can't drive. In his crazy days, bands would tear up hotel rooms. Hence, his account pays for it. He is Ringo Starr's brother inlaw.

This song came off the album titled "But Seriously Folks" back in 1978, I went out and bought the 8-track tape and listened to it all the way through, besides this great song, it had a couple of other songs that I really liked, they were titled "At The Station" and "Over And Over". Joe Walsh is one of the greatest lead guitarist in rock history and he has lots of music to delve into, solo and with other bands. Check out "The James Gang". Thanks for this reaction!

It's a sound very symptomatic of the times in which it was made. In studios back then that did rock they put towels over the drums to give it that dead sound. So it sounds a bit dated---like I KNOW what years this was done in by how it SOUNDS. So glad you heard it and got the key take-away. And that is that Joe was honest and a groover before it came back in style again later on. He was groovin when few bands were going down that road. He was "VIBIN." Nice job. Oh by the way your cat asked you a question: "Why aren't you paying attention to ME, Mommy?" Very sweet. Ha!

Joe Walsh is so talented! I suggest you check out some live performances he's done. My favorite lately is him performing his song 'Turn to Stone' at the Vets Aid concert from 2022. There are a lot of video clips of it on RU-vid. I think the song is about the Vietnam War (it came out in 1973)....it's such a haunting song and I love his atmospheric guitar solo.

Listening to this song with forty-something years hindsight, it really has a lot of unique elements and juxtapositions. But when it came out there was so much great music, it was just a great song. We didn't analyze it to figure out how many key changes or tempo changes or whatever, we just rocked out to it.

Don't worry, Don Henley can't block this one, and Joe Walsh is speaking too much truth, to try and sober up enough to block it.

"In The City" is a lost classic by Joe that doesn't get much love from the reactors. His version is awesome, but so is the Eagles' version as well, who he is a band member of.
