Original Video: • John Farnham - Help (L... FIRST TIME HEARING John Farnham - Help (LIVE with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) british reaction to australia reacting to australian singer john farnham reaction reacting to john farnham
I was cutting it a bit fine for my flight, ran into the toilets, and ran out. John Farnham was running in. I knocked John for a six. We both laughed, and apologised. John was on my flight, so I visited his seat to apologise further. He kicked his manager (the great Glen Wheatly) out of his seat and asked me to join him and chat. I wasn't going to his show (Carols By Candlelight), so he gave me VIP area tickets. A true gentleman, and a phenomenal singer.
Don't forget Richard Marx as well, he is one of his greatest fans and actively sort to write some songs for him and then performed together. Also known and respected by the remaining members of Queen.
Australia's living legend !!!!John Farnham 'The Voice ' was very unwell a couple of years ago but thankfully he is recovering !!! We love him dearly and are happy that he's ok !!!LOVE YOU JOHN!!!!☺😉🤩😍🥰😘😘❤❤❤
Poor Celine, she can't sing anymore, she has that terrible disease called "Locked In Syndrome" eventually she will only be able to move her eyes, incredibly sad.
John is by far the most loved artist Australia has ever had. He appeals to every generation because he sings just about every single genre of music, he has a voice that most artists could only dream of, his concerts are a work of art and he sings live even better than he does on his albums, and to top it off he is the most humble and loveable larrikan ...who always takes the time to showcase every member of his band, crack a joke or 10 or pull a prank. Not to mention he has had a career spanning 7 decades from the 1960's (while he was still a teenager) right up till the 2020's (in his 70's) with number one hits in 6 consecutive decades. He is the most awarded pop/rock star in the country. And one of his albums from the 80's is still listed as the highest selling Album ever in this country. He even had a stint from 82 to 86 with The Little River Band as their lead singer. But he is more of a solo artist at heart. I have subbed in the hopes you will react to many more from John. Check out his most famous song You're the Voice. Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You may have even heard this song as it was also huge in the UK and Europe ❤❤
💯 % we Love our John Farnham. Sending John's Best wishes, we hope you are healing and life is settling ❤️ 🙏 💙 for John, his family & his loved ones. We thank you for the many songs of joy you have given us ❤️💜😊♥️💙💕
You've landed in a BIG rabbit hole. John was possibly the best solo performer of the late 20th century. Nobody worked an audience better. Watch his microphone control. It's genius level.
Ok Paul Weston. You've had your negative little comment, now go away. I personally don't like listening to Tom Jones (another comment you negatively reacted to on this reaction). I would listen to John any minute of any day. I suggest you stop now or are you looking to create an argument. Letting you know I will not be responding to anything else you might have to say.
@@Jojomac-ix7oi How ignorant of you, how dare you compare a man who never wrote lyrics or music in his life and at best was very good singer yes. A memory of getting a BJ in a car with Farnham as background music sadly doesn't qualify him for anything except for you.
This evidently was the encore performance at the end of a 3 hour concert. The fact that John could still deliver such a high powered rendition after performing for all that time is testament to his superlative skills.
@barboblisk1029 I didn't think he has performed since his operation for throat cancer? Where did you see/hear him singing post operation to say he still 'has it'?
Our john has the most amazing voice , a great bloke and an Aussie legend. He has recently beat cancer and we wish him all the best going forward Love ya John Farnham
John Farnham AO was actually born in your part of the world (Essex) but his family moved to Australia when John was a boy and he is true Aussie now, even won Australian of the Year Award in 87. John’s been entertaining Aussies since the ‘60s!
@@leglessinoz yep. Essex at the time 😉 “The battle over whether Romford and Dagenham are part of London or Essex has been one which has raged on for many decades.” But until 65, it was most definitely a county in Essex and this would be listed on John’s birth certificate. Come on, you know KAP does her homework 😝
This is John's version of The Beatles classic pop song Help, this performance was from 1989; John first performed this version in 1980, and shortly before John Lennon's death later that year upon hearing this was heard to say "This is how the song was meant to be sung".
So you've discovered the very deep bunny burrow that is John Farnham. Be careful - you may never get out, but there are worse fates. John is an Australian treasure with a career spanning over 60 years. He is also an extraordinary person, humble and grateful and always ready to use his considerable clout to organise a huge fundraising concert for the too many natural disasters here in Oz. In 2022 he was diagnosed with mouth cancer and had radical surgery to remove his jaw. His recovery has been quite the journey, but he is back to singing around the house, and no one puts it past him to make a comeback at age 74. From the same concert, which I had the privilege to see, you're spoilt for choice as every song is a gem. But a good place to start is "You're the Voice", the song that gave him the moniker The Voice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6m2m_9Uijso.htmlsi=VWq4DsdUWF0_bztJ
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre. Endless vocal range, mic control, breath control, stage presence, passion and emotion, everything is perfect. Now you’ve started down the farnsey rabbit hole you’ll just keep digging.
Without trying to be cliche, seeing John Live really does blows you away! He NEVER sings a bum note. Extraordinary voice! 🤯 Did you know or realise this is a Beatles song!? Unless you know the lyrics, you wouldn't pick it. A totally different tempo etc Go have a listen to their version 👍 ✌️
I love that after all these years John is still reaching new audiences. Most Aussies grew up listening to him . He is an Aussie icon. Love him . Do yourself a favour and listen to him sing, "you're the voice" and " touch of paradise"
Yes! Get the one from the same concert. If you do, watch for the mic-stand toss about three or four minutes in. Have to watch carefully because it's shot from behind, then they cut back to front-on for the catch. A couple of minutes later he tosses it across the stage, sings on for a while, then casually wanders over and does a foot-flip to catch it again. His mic-stand antics were as legendary as his voice. Not to mention his ability to turn his talent to everything from opera, through ballads and musicals, to hard rock. He truly is the GOAT.
I don't think you have realised that this is a cover (re-interpretation) of the Beatles "Help", John Lennon said upon hearing John's version that this is the way he had invisioned it when he wrote it - very different to the original Beatles release and has sprawned many covers of John's arrangement (Celine Dion, Tina Turner and many others)
Thankyou for reacting to our wonderful John ❤🎉😂 He is THE G.O.A.T. THE VOICE. He is a beautiful human with a genuine warmth and love for humanity. He gives more than 💯 percent in every performance. ❤❤
He is the GOAT. No other performer will ever be as good as him and he is the nicest guy, so humble. It beaks my heart that he may never perform again because of his mouth cancer
John Farnham is without a doubt the best singer I have ever heard. His concerts were legendary with extraordinary musicians and back up singers. They were televised live and could not be missed. Watching this I again felt his brilliance and sheer passion in every performance. He had some setbacks to get to the packed arenas and adulation from audiences. We love him.
He’s a legend. A real legend. I was at his 50th birthday concert. Absolutely a highlight in my life. He has an amazing voice and is The Voice in Oz. ❤❤❤❤
I've been honoured to see him in a number of shows in Australia. This man deserved ALL of the success he had. I personally think one of the most underrated performers of the world. He came from a background of many hard knocks within the musical industry. The, he reached his peak. God bless you John. May you be healing well.
I was born overseas, growing up on ' Schlagermusik' and of course traditional folk music. We had some very good singers, also from France, Netherlands and other European countries, also through my older brother listened to a lot of English and American bands and singers in the sixties. I was and still am a big fan of the BeeGees, who lived for about a decade in Australia, the sister still lives here. After moving to live in Australia, I fell in love with the Australian music scene, loved Cold Chisel. Anyway there is a lot of talent here in Australia, should I mention AC/DC, Inxs? I believe, a lot of Australian singers and bands travelled the country before their fame, and performed in front of club and pub audiences. They would soon tell them if they didn't like something. I believe, this had an imprint on the musicians, most are also quite down to earth and humble. I love how they all come together, when we have disasters like fires, floods, cyclones and give to victim funds. John Farnham has a great vocal range, very powerful voice.
He is humble, not arrogant. He knows his fans are why he has this career and he treats them with love, appreciation, and respect. Not only is his voice something unique and beautiful, he is an excellent example of professionalism. He raises up younger musicians whenever he can. When he sings with other artist's it is clear how much fun he's having and the facial expression I often see is of a person who can't believe his good fortune that they've agreed to perform with him. He treats everyone as equals. We love the person just as much as The Voice.
John first recorded this in 1980. Mark Hirschler , sax player was the song's arranger with John. He also does the full speed version like the Beatles did. John Lennon liked this version.
It was Mark Dennison on the sax. David Hirschfelder was on the keyboards and did the arrangement for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra I think. Definitely not the sax player.
I have been lucky enough to see John live many times, he is absolutely incredible and such a brilliant entertainer. Dearly loved and respected here in Australia. All ages love him. Blessed to have seen him so many times. Memories I will never forget ❤
Great reaction! Glad you have finally discovered our National Legend, the phenomenal John Farnham! You now have 6 decades of amazing hit songs, concerts and albums to catch up on.
Thanks for the reaction. 💞Glad to hear you are going to do more Farnham. You've got 6 decades of experience to investigate. He is an ICON in the Australian Music Industry. This performance is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound). Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold". His hit from the Whispering Jack Album, (which held the No. 1 position for a total of 25 weeks), "You're the Voice" went to No. 1 and has become an unofficial National Anthem, , and always keep an eye out for his "mic & stand" tricks, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6m2m_9Uijso.html ). John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. . He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL 😂 if you decide to go exploring, it is recommended to only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back. He is the most down to earth person, humble, funny and extremely talented. John replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, First the trailer...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LocCfc5PKrE.html 1969 a very young John "One" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e06hBcBp8T8.html 1970 "Raindrops" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LfmqltNIjfw.html 1980 "Please Don't Ask me" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EmTOuR23ExU.html 1983 in LRB " Reminising" (nice jazzy vocal) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iYgh_Irk46M.html 1998 "Playing to Win" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PYhy6gmwHwI.html 1991 "When Something is Wrong with Your Baby" with another Aussis ICON - Jimmy Barnes ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ihsfx1LuoKc.html 1994 "You'll Never Walk Alone" (while chewing gum LOL).. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dWTEesb7FrY.html 1998 John and good friend Olivia Newton-John duet "Please Don't Ask Me" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2uV_tZODfK8.html 1999 With Human Nature doing a Jackson Five number ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AK9uhGmvo6U.html 2000, a bit of "swing" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AK9uhGmvo6U.html , 2003 "When the War is Over" Last Time Tour ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BekbvlLzMWc.html So many to choose from, hope you like them. 💞
A true Aussie legend! I have watched him since I was a girl and loved his voice from then to now. He was absolutely incredible on stage. I hope his health is improving.I saw him a few years back with Tom Jones, amazing, so grateful I saw them.😊❤❤❤
John is unquestionably the most loved performer in Australia. I've worked with him back in the 80s and the guy you see on stage is the same guy off stage. He's just the guy next door. A truly great guy.
John Peter Farnham AO is a British-born Australian singer. Farnham was a teen pop idol from 1967 until 1979, billed until then as Johnny Farnham. He has since forged a career as an Adult contemporary singer. He was previously the lead singer for The Little River Band and recently had major surgery for removal of a tumour. Farnham spent his first ten years in the United Kingdom before his family immigrated to Australia in 1959 which is the same year that the Bee Gees also immigrated to Australia. The Farnham family lived in Melbourne, the Gibb Family (Bee Gees) first settled in Redcliffe, Queensland.
I am from the US & my mum loved the band he was in, Little River Band, before he went solo. Going back many yearss. But then I moved to Australia & loved him as a solo singer. His voice has people across a few generations that adore him and he truly is the voice. My fav songs of his are 'You're the Voice' and 'I Burn for You.'
OZzie here/ OUR John Farnham is SO beloved by all Australians. He is the nicest, most humble man. If you haven't heard him sing- The Voice or When the war is over, then you are missing a treat !! I,ve been to every concert I could get to/amazing!. John had to undergo surgery for a mouth cancer in last couple of years and has had a long recovery- we wish him all the very best in that endeavor. He is so Loved.
It Amazes Me how many overseas people are just Wowed by our John Farnham, he is a True Gentleman and Legend here in Australia and Much Loved by Many Australians, it’s just a shame that he’s only now getting the recognition that he deserved in the beginning of his comeback years ago, especially those that hear his voice and music from the USA and The UK, to Us here in Australia, he Is The Voice. Wishing Him All The Best from just One of his Many Fans…🥰🥰🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He is a national treasure...unfortunately we may never see him sing again, he was very unwell with mouth cancer... I love John, thankfully I have seen him live, his voice raising every hair on your body....and yes you are right, he is very humble always has been...just a great Aussie bloke...with a super human talent....Love you Farnsy❤❤❤
I'm so proud John is Australian. He's ours and not only is he amazingly talented but he has always behaved in a kind and humble way. I hope he's coming along well after his health issues. We're with you John. 😊
My favourite artist of all time. Saw him in christchurch NZ way back in the day, he made my knees go weak when he came out in a long black coat, bronzed , blonde just a gorgeous man. He was lead up for Billy Joel, john was the better act by far... Always will remember that night. !!! Hope he stays well, your much loved Johnny 😍 ❤ 🇳🇿
What can i say...he is ours. I met John in Canberra City around 1972. They had a yearly Battle of the Bands at the Show ground's. I think John was buskin at that time at night, my friends and I sat down and talked and listen to his music. I thought then he would make it big, but it took his time..kind soft spoken gentleman.
He is THE VOICE ! At my mother's house there is a photo of John and my eldest son Steven on the floor of my my mother's office at R.C.A Records in Strathfield Sydney colouring in way back in the late Eighties 80's when John was the King of Oz music and my son was only two to three years old. He'll be thirty eight this year ! Rock on John, Oz needs you !
As fantastic as that video is, nothing prepares you for being there live. His voice is like a sonic boom that goes right through you and you are in a constant state of goosebumps. I’ve seen him perform live twice and that is a core memory that can never been repeated. He is our national treasure.
Love, Love our national treasure Jonny Farnham. I saw him in concert many years ago back in the late 80s and he still has the gorgeous powerful voice to this day and he is such a nice beautiful man.
John Farnham is a beautiful singer, we had the pleasure many years ago to see him in concert in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia,he and Tom Jones were touring together gosh what a brilliant concert , it was the best night, such ashame John Farnham has been very crook with cancer, we will always love his music and performances❤🇦🇺
NEVER gets dull - HE is The BEST....and he'll get right back up there. Can watch all of his concerts over and over👌👌👏👏...one of my faves is when he performed ONE song ( the Voice) with Coldplay in the 'Sound Relief' concert in 2009 in support of the horrendous bushfire devastation in Victoria/Australia. Not quite sure he expected the fantastic reaction from that crowd......💕💕💕💕
What do you mean possibly was the best vocalist ? He still is even though he's not performing at the moment. No one will ever surpass John's vocal ability and stage presence. He is a living legend ! 💖
Johnny Farnham is such a nice guy & so humble , you need to watch a clip of a show that was our funniest show on TV in the 90s HEY HEY ITS SATURDAY there is a clip of JOHN FARNHAM singing with TOM JONES , & its a lovely clip as JOHNNY FARNHAM is so humble & nervous singing with TOM JONES but he sings so well with Tom Jones its a really nice video . John Farnham is a once in a generation talent! His voice is beyond incredible and he's a total legend as a guy as well. It was such a thrill to see you experience Farnsey! If you haven't listened to You're the Voice yet, please do. Nothing will give you goosebumps like him singing that song will 🙂
