Why do talentless people post their "reactions" on you Tube? Oooh err, I saw /heard something, so I'm going to film myself. There's something off about not being able to own your reactions without getting digitally involved. Farnham has been a known singing icon /star for 50+ years in Australia and is a national treasure. Pity there isn't "You Clue Less" channel where all this dross goes automatically, complete with a downloadable reward chart for their little good job stamps. Yeah, my time to "react".
There is one line that always annoys me cos it is false, 'and the ANZAC legend didn't mention mud and blood and tears', Yes it bloody well did. The Flanders mud is well known to ANZACs folklore. And blood and tears - my regiment, a descendant regiment of the 8th Light Horse Regiment - cut to pieces within minutes at the Battle of the Nek, Gallipoli. Two lines of total of three hundred men, within 4 minutes, over half were dead from the futile bayonet charge including the CO Lt Col Alex White. The 10th Light Horse followed soon after with a similar result. Brit unit, the Cheshires were due to follow the 10th but finally common sense head prevailed and the Charge was cancelled. The carnage was so terrible, 8th and 10th Light Horse were pulled out the front line trenches and back to the beaches to recover.
I know you asked for more recent of John, but there's an old one of him singing Lucille I'd like to see you react to. Also Bridge Over Troubled Water, please.

My brother who I never knew thanks to war . He was 12 years older than me in 1968 and his birthday never came up, so he joined the regular army . Miss him.
Have a listen to Divinylys Essential to get a good impression of Chrissy Amphlett. My God, she knew how to swear. Her Auntie Little Pattie Amplett was playing on stage in Vietnam during the battle of Nui Dat.
Miss Venetta and Lindsay are 2 of John’s back up singers. Miss Venetta sang back up for many greats in America like Whitney, she was in 2 movies and could have been a star in her own right. She moved to Australia and chose to stay with John until she retired. Lindsay also stayed that long because they loved John and he loved them as family. I never knew the name of a back up singer until John, he respected and admired everyone he worked with and they all became our family too. Thank you.
It was never John’s voice that was the problem. It was always beautiful. It was the fool who saw a meal ticket and had no experience in the music industry that made him sing the wrong songs. John started at 17 but he wasn’t allowed to dress or sing his way until he was 38 that was the problem. After number one hits with old songs his manager got bored and put John in Pantomimes. They might be big in England in the day but they weren’t here. He had a great chance at the start when a record industry person heard him. He sent John and his manager to England with Olivia Newton John. He set up interviews with different recording companies but John’s manager was drunk and John didn’t get heard by any. He would have been world known but after years of that he didn’t want it. Thank you.
The harmonies just make me teary.....Such a passionate performance. John had the best backing singers EVER! I just had to watch this twice lol. Thanks so much my friend
Thanks for reacting to John. His first hit was in 1967. It is well worth listening to John sing just about any genre and nail it (can't recall him ever doing rap, but he's sung pretty much every other genre) ❤
Thank you for this great reaction. It was an amazing performance, and I was lucky enough to be there to see it. The way their voices echoed around the room was beautiful. And John, his voice just soared!! You could see he was really feeling the song in his soul. He truly can sing anything. He is the GOAT!!!!
Yeah, they were heros. A lot of them had no choice but to go. Their birth date was drawn out of a barrel (the type of raffle that you don't want to win). My brother joined the RAAF to avoid being drafted into the army, figuring that he'd be safer in the air force. He ended up spending 20 years in the RAAF.
