A very amazing angelic reaction 👼🏼! I see 👁👁 you have reacted to Jon Secada before: Just Another Day. Angel was released as the third single from Jon Secada's 1992 album: Jon Secada. A Spanish version of the song was also released. It was written by Jon Secada and Miguel A Morejon. It was produced by Emilio Estefan Jr. The song reached #1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart, #9 Mainstream Top 40 and #18 on the Hot 100. It also peaked at #1 in the capital cities of Brazil, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Panama, #2 in Chile, #4 in Panama, and #15 in Mexico. It was ranked as the #14 song on the 1992 year end Adult Contemporary chart. The music video was directed by Jim Yukich. Following the success of the Spanish versions of the songs: "Just Another Day" and "Angel", the record label decided to release an all-Spanish-language album for Jon Secada: Otro Día Más Sin Verte (1992). Jon Secada performed the song during the KISS And Unite AIDS benefit concert at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, in April 1993. At the 1993 Acapulco Festival in Monterrey, Mexico, Jon Secada concluded his set performance with the song: "Angel". A review in El Siglo De Torreón noted that the audience was captivated by his performance, highlighting the song's role in his success in the country. It received a nomination for Pop Song of the Year at the 1993 Premio Lo Nuestro. It received the ASCAP Pop Music Award for being among the most-performed song of 1993.Miguel A Morejon and Gloria Estefan received the BMI Songwriter Award for composing the Spanish version of the song: "Angel". On April 7, 1995, Jon Secada performed the song and dedicated it to Selena 🙏🏼, who was shot and killed a week earlier, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas. Jon Secada referred to the song as being the most romantic song of his musical career, noting that people often associate him with the recording. Jon Secada described his musical style as a fusion of Pop and R&B, infused with a touch of Latin flavor in the percussion. Critical Reception 🗣: Colin Larkin in The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, described "Angel" as being a romantic Pop track. Larry Flick of Billboard believed that Jon Secada had the potential to replicate the broad chart success of "Just Another Day". Larry Flick described it as an elegant piece where Jon Secada demonstrates a commendable vocal range and strength comparable to Michael Bolton while avoiding unnecessary bravado. Larry Flick found Gloria Estefan's Spanish translation of the lyrics to be a nice touch. Chuck Taylor, also from Billboard, expressed the view that Jon Secada had a revolutionary impact on top 40 radio in the 1990s with the singles: "Just Another Day", "Angel", and "If You Go", likening it to a blowtorch on the airwaves. Chuck Taylor opined that Jon Secada exerted significant influence in both the Spanish and English markets with "Just Another Day", "If You Go", and "Angel". Music critic Ramiro Burr found Jon Secada to have passionately poured his emotions into "Angel", adding a touch of intensity to the song, calling it a perfectly suited song for slow dancing on prom night. Jan DeKnock of Chicago Tribune named "Angel" as their pick song of the week, calling it an alluring track. Steve Morse, from Boston Globe, provided a more positive review of "Angel". Steve Morse felt that Jon Secada possessed one of the "smoothest new Pop voices" on tracks "Just Another Day", "Angel", and "Do You Believe In Us?", which allowed him to make a significant crossover between the Top 40 and Latin music charts. Mary Ann Bourbeau of Courier News, found Jon Secada's vocal delivery in "Angel" to be smooth. Charles Runnells of The News Press, called it a romantic hit single that, along with "Just Another Day", enhanced Jon Secada's music sales. Lyrics 📝: I, I can't read the future But I still want to hold you close Right now, I need that from you So give me the morning Sharing another day With you, is all I want to know And baby I, I've tried to forget you But the light of your eyes still shines You shine like an angel A spirit that won't let me go No, I, I didn't want to tell you Things I didn't want to know myself I was afraid to show But you, you gave me a reason A reason to face the truth Oh yes you did To face the truth, face the truth, face the truth And baby I, I've tried to forget you But the light of your eyes still shines, shines You shines like an angel A spirit that won't let me go Won't let me go Let go of my heart And baby I, I've tried to forget you But the light of your eyes still shines Like an angel A spirit that won't let me go I know Won't let me go Jon Secada Info 📰: Juan Ramírez aka Jon Secada was born on October 4, 1961 in Havana, Cuba.
