Pure perfection. One of my favorite groups I grew up with (along with The Bee Gees!) two of the best groups to ever come along. I’m currently 70 and still listen to these two groups all the time. Love to watch the reactions of first timers. That was when music was when it was true music and raw talent.
Love them. Thing about Steve is he sounds better live if that's even possible. Lights Lovin Touchin Squeezin Send Her My Love 3 AMAZING songs from them to react to please.. 😃
Steve Perry is the absolute GOAT. And you are right; Steve is a counter tenor (he sings in my range and I'm a mezzo soprano), which means that most guys cannot even approach the things he is able to sing.
Yeeeee, I am SO excited for you to start on this...journey. - - - I'll see myself out 🤣 No but SERIOUSLY, Journey is one of my all time faves and Steve Perry is just um. Yeah, beyond words for me tbh! You know how you said the outro had you in your feels, even tho you can't relate to the lyrics? THAT is the power of Steve's voice, but also of the musicianship of the whole band and the song writing too. Okay, I'll quit fawning lol, and give recs: As I've seen others already say, they're actually even better live. Anything from the Houston 1981 concert is gold, but esp Mother Father, Stone in Love, and if you ARE going to do Don't Stop Believin (which I do rec!), definitely do it from this concert. Another live performance that gets far less attention but I absolutely love is Lights & Stay Awhile (Live in Osaka 1980). The video quality isn't as good as the Houston concert, but something about the performance just melts my heart. You'll also want to do more recorded material no doubt, and there's plenty of recs there too: Any Way You Want It, Feeling That Way (another big fave that doesn't get enough play!), Lovin Touchin Squeezin, and Wheel in the Sky all have a real sexy 70s rock sound. Send Her My Love and Open Arms are more in the beautiful ballad category like Faithfully. And for some gorgeous 80s vibes, go for Only The Young, Separate Ways and Be Good To Yourself.
Definitely you will fall in love with Steve Perry's phenomenal vocal range, it's pure liquid gold. All of their Escape Tour live from Houston 1981 is spectacular. They sound better live they add so much more flava. This version of Don't Stop Believin' is a fan favorite. Mother Father is a masterpiece Steve has said it's his most difficult song to sing and when they recorded it he did it in one take, as per Keyboardist Jonathan Cain. Other greatest, well there is not one that's not great but here are a few recommendations: When You Love a Woman Still They Ride Something to Hide Why Can't This Night Go On Forever Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' Wheel in The Sky Stay Awhile The Party is Over Stone in Love
Love Journey!! Steve Perry has one of the best voices ever. Two of my favs by them are Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin, and Lights. Both are so good. Great reaction!! 🙂
Steve has said that sometimes he had to reach into tomorrow to hit that last "Faithfully". Since they performed night after night, he said that he sometimes came up short the next day because he had borrowed from it.
YES!! I grew up with my parents blasting Journey.. as well as other Amazing 80's Bands.. throughout the house.. So It really gives all the right Good Feeling Vibes whenever I hear them! These are the types of Oldies but Goodies that you can Sing along to at the top of your lungs while Rockin out!! 😍 Definitely recommend checking out more Journey as well as other 80's Hits/Bands!! 🤗🎶🎶🎶
Thank you for this reaction! Please react to Journey’s “Mother Father” - Live in Houston. The entire concert was the first live concert aired on MTV in 1981. Thanks again - God Bless!
Love Journey. "Send Her My Love" and "Who's Crying Now" are two other ones that are great. Separate Ways will also be a good one, maybe, bc it's very upbeat, tempo wise.
Every song by journey is phenomenal. Steve Perry is dubbed the voice for his incredible range and his emotive style of singing. True story her on this song Faithfully. Prince thought his ding Purple Rain sounded so much like Journey's Faithfully and that his guitar work and solo sounded so much like that of guitarist Neal Schon that he contacted Journey for their approval to release his teach Purple Rain, the Title track to his film Purple Rain. Prince was such a class act in this regard as so many artists copy, sample or have similar sounding music and hooks I. Their music but never credit the original artist or seek such blessings.
My dear young fella, ! Your eyes told the whole story. You were as in love with this song as we were when it was new. All good love to you, Sincerely, Somebody's Grandma 😃😃😊😘
Steve Perry's voice is operatic. My favorite song of theirs is ''Only The Young''. It was the theme to the movie ''Vision Quest'', that had a young Madonna singing one of her early hits in a bar scene.
Steve Perry is a vocal beast Neal Schon is underrated as a guitarist started playing with Santana at 15 years old need to watch them live Houston 1981 Mother Father
new subscriber . really enjoy your reactions my friend . thanks. this song came out about 1984 or 1985. brings back lots of memories . im a 80s kid. steve perry is the best voice in that generation . thats my opinion. he s special
Isn't Journey amazing? They can translate into sharing their lives and helping us understand a different way of life. Please react to Separate Ways...a real " banger"
Exactly right. That is one of the songs that gets you right in the “feels,” whether you’re a musician or not. And yeah, Steve Perry (you were right about that) is “The Voice.” Broke my heart when he left Journey, but that’s life- ya gotta do what you gotta do, and now he’s back, with a new album.
I was lucky enough to see Journey 4 times live in the 80's. Steve Perry's voice was always incredible! I suggest "Wheel in the sky" (official video), "Lights" (official video), "Open Arms" (live in Houston), "Patiently" (midnight special)...I can go on and on! If you want to react to "Don't stop believing" I recommend the live version in Houston since you already kind of know the studio version.
If you want to hit those high notes when you're in the car or shower, just turn up the volume and you will sound just like Steve Perry. That's what I do.
Good music from my youth! There's a new guy on the scene. Check out Teddy Swims cover of I Can't Make You Love Me. They massed two million subscribers in two years. Definitely worth a review.
Love the song. Just something else, try the boyband called A1. Look for their songs called Same Old Brand New You and Caught in the middle. They're not widely known which is a shame as they had some good songs. Love your channel. 🎶 🎤 🎧
Off topic: Have you ever thought of creating a separate channel for movie reactions ? Would you be interested in doing something like that, where you get to see a bunch of movies you’ve never seen, based upon our recommendations and perhaps donations ? Just a thought.
