Another amazing group to see live. My husband & myself grew up with them, then my step daughter took our albums, she was born in the late 80"s. We replaced albums (along with pink Floyd ) and then my son, born in 1996 took them again🤔 timeless...yes. We have 4 turntables and prefer albums to CD, or anything else.Great reaction.Thank you.

What’s amazing about this song, Bonham was getting frustrated trying to get the his playing down on Four Sticks. While playing with two sticks in each hand, he was having trouble with the timing. He took a break from playing Four Sticks, & started pounding out this beat, within 30 minutes the band had it written & recorded. So we got 2 great song, while trying to play one, Bonham then got Four Sticks down in two takes. If you haven’t heard Four Sticks, it’s an amazing song, I think you’ll like it.

Music was just spontaneously flowing from their minds at this time ...a creative peak.

@@tektoniks_architects true, they have so many songs either never recorded, or recorded & never released. Robert Plant is having an amazing solo career, he definitely has a writers flow, of so many solo albums.

Still one of my favourite Zeppelin songs, pure energy and adrenaline - love their MSG performance of this one, Bonzo crashing into it from the dark!

The Stroll is a dance where dancers line up on each side and a couple do a dance walk down the middle. they take their place at the end on each side and the next couple does their walk. It started in the '50s and has its association with Rock and Roll but it was big with the R & B crowd too. It was a regular thing on Soul Train.

"The Stroll" was a dance way back in the "olden days"...hence, "it's been a long time since I did 'the stroll'..............."

This one is fun to see live you should try to see it live. The strole is so old I never did it and I'm their age. Tribute to all the 50's rock we grew up listening to.The band members watched each other constantly while preforming because they were jamming and picked up cues as to where they may be going with the song. Could wind up twice as long as the recording

I like knowing the origins of things. As you say, this music by Led Zeppelin (and many others) inspired/evolved into the music of today. Dig deeper into the past and check out some of the earlier 'game changers' like Scott Joplin and Zez Confrey shaking up the piano world in the 1900s ('Maple Leaf Rag', 'Kitten on the Keys'), Benny Goodman shaking up swing music in the 1930s ('Sing, Sing, Sing' with Gene Krupa on drums), Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis in the 1950s ('Johnny B. Goode', 'Lucille', 'Great Balls of Fire') and The Beatles in the 1960s (take your pick...). These are all musicians who made the previous generation say, "What in the world are these kids listening to nowadays?"

Rush is a band who many people consider their drummer The Professor. His name is Neal Peart.

Ace, it has barely started but I had to find this link for you. So what is happening there in terms of drums on the intro which set the stage for everything that follows and you just commented on them, this was John bonham, one of my favorite drummers of all time, tipping is hat to the drummer for Little Richard way back in the fifties at the birth of rock and roll. And this song is about rock and roll, you can see how cool that is. And the Little Richard song in particular that this is almost an identical drum opening to, which again is John Bonham paying tribute, is keep a knocking but you can't come in. I think you would love reaction to this old black and white thing from the 50s from kind of The Godfather of rock and roll, but either way, at least listen to the intro of it, and then listen to the intro of this studio cut of the iconic Led Zeppelin song Rock and roll. You will see the John Bonham tribute out to Little Richard's drummer easily: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PcJrExewkYA.html&pp=ygU4bGl0dGxlIHJpY2hhcmQgaSBoZWFyIHlvdSBrbm9ja2luZyBidXQgeW91IGNhbid0IGNvbWUgaW4%3D

I love Rush, and saw them live several times. If I were starting a classic rock band and had to pick a drummer, Bonham, Moon and Baker would be on my list above Peart....no disrespect to Neil.

Wal to wall energy. Great band but John Bonham on this song shows his drumming excellence perhaps the best of the all. These old groups could write play, sing and party. The had SOUL ! Love this song never ever gets old.

Ace, I'd be curious to hear about your proximity to bands and performing because you obviously have been there. Your comment about what is essentially eye contact turns out to be this almost classic hilarious cliche and yet it's for real. Yeah when you're working on this stuff but also when you're playing live although less so once you've played it several times together, there is a fair amount of eye contact even if it's very brief as everybody checks in together. That's one of the things I love about playing in bands live is that sense of camaraderie and everybody's super tight and down hard on it but also trying to 90% listen and only 10% execute. That is typically difficult to realize but just shooting for that target generally makes a band much tighter. And makes you a better musician personally.. I really think it's great that you pick up on the stuff, for real man.

Paved the way for Rock? As awesome as Led Zeppelin was, many others before them paved the way... starting with Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis!

I wouldn't say that music has evolved. I would say that it de-evolved. Less knowledge of music. Less musicianship...Less people who know how to play an instrument...Less musical craftsmen who do the work and pay their dues...Less people that can sing...Less people that can arrange and write songs...and basically less musical talent overall. What we do have today is a lot of image...a lot of bling.....a lot of technology and software that allow people to cheat and "assemble" a song.. .a lot of autotune for people who cannot sing...no patience to put the work in....no craftsmanship....and basically a lot of cheating. All of this is so normal today and ingrained in the entertainment industry and society that today it feels normal.
