WOW! This is my first time ever listening, first time ever reacting to the Legend Luciano Pavarotti. For this to be my first reaction I am completely blown away how emotional and moving not only his voice is but the lyricsas well. The art of story telling is what Opera is about.
Today Im back with another highly requested reaction to Luciano Pavarotti "Caruso." Enjoy! Its Too Beautiful.

The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla, wrote this while staying in one of the rooms where Caruso spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucia Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life.

In 1996, I lived in New York City. I worked as a dental assistant for a very exclusive dentist on Central Park South. One day, on my way to work I was in the lobby waiting for the elevator. The elevator opens and I get in, Luciano Pavarotti shows up with his entourage and His entourage, swiftly shuffle me out of the elevator!!! I was incensed, of course. But I still have to get to work....... We had a 9 AM patient! Sooo,.....I waited for the next elevator and get to the floor of my job to start the work day. Luciano Pavarotti was our first patient that day!!!!!!!!!

If you want some context on this piece, Enrico Caruso was regarded as one of the absolute greatest opera singers period the end and he died in the 1920s at like 50 something. Following him comes Pavarotti and the other two members of the Three Tenors, again regarded as the pinnacle of operatic singing for the later 20th century. So this is basically one of the greatest opera singers paying tribute to the one who came before him. Caruso was also one of the early users of voice recordings so thankfully we can today still appreciate his voice and how he sounded. As for the song itself it's supposed to be an older Caruso who has lived out his life. He's gone from Italy to America, he's lived a full life and he's spending the final moments of it with a beautiful woman that he's madly in love with. A love that reaches the point that when he sees her cry it's like he's drowning. He knows he's dying but he's happy that he gets to spend it with this woman. Do consider listening to Pavarotti singing Vesti la Giubba, E lucevan le stelle, and Nessun Dorma too.

"Caruso" is what's known in Italy as "Bel Canto" or beautiful singing. It is not considered opera because it was never an aria sung in an opera. Andreas Bocelli has done several modern bel canto albums that are wonderful, as well as albums focused on famous arias from opera.

I love it, because I appreciate their insane voices and the control they have over them. Love seeing people expanding their musical horizons. You never know what you will like if you give it a chance. And you're right, music can be so healing and speak to a person on so many levels. Too LIT Mafia, just to help you out a little. There's opera and then there's what's called Bel Canto, meaning "beautiful singing." Nessum Dorma is directly from an opera. But Lucio Dalla's song about Caruso is bel canto. Some of my favorite, modern bel canto has been sung by Andreas Bocelli in various non-operatic albums. "O sole mio" is also "bel canto" ; it is a stand alone song not from an opera.

It is a lovely moment of sharing, and then he turns his joyful smile to his audience. Pavarotti was a sweetheart of a man, he loved food, wine, women, and song. And he loved his audience.
