He is not "one of the most", he IS the most beloved tenor of all time. He is a virtuoso. There were other great male opera singers, they all had to step aside when he showed up. Check out his Paris 1998 performance. As this aria is only three minutes long, you do not need to stop it, it will not be taken down. Pavarotti uses "chest" voice through his entire register. Most singers use chest voice in their lower register, but must switch to "head voice" to achieve their high register. He achieves this by the wide opening of his mouth on his highest notes, which also allows him to use up less breath on the high notes, which is why he can hold those notes so long. When he was younger, he could hold the last two notes quite a bit longer. There are many videos of him performing this aria over the years, all worth watching. Again, don't interrupt the Maestro.

@@thekingsdaughter4233 Yes, he was incredible. My mother heard him live many times at the opera when she was young and said that you couldn't compare him to anybody else. And she loved Pavarotti and saw him live as well but she said the same as the experts. Jussi was world famous, active in the late 30s 40s and 50s. He liked to party, a bit too much, and died 1960. His favourite stage was the Metropolitan. Look him up at the Wikipedia, there you can see what Pavarotti said about him. I've been to a dinner in Sweden where his grandson started singing (he's not at all that famous as Jussi) and he cracked the window. It was a normal living room but to small for his voice.💕

I am a professional choir singer and I can't tell you how good it feels to see people who aren't hardcore classical fans get it when exposed in the right way. So, I'd like to take you down a similarly directed rabbit hole, even though it will be closer to home for you. Most people are unaware that high school students in the United States can earn all-state honors in competition outside of athletics. As an alum of the Oklahoma All-State Mixed Choir, I would like to introduce you to the greatness that is the Texas All-State Mixed Choir. Although I can only explain Oklahoma's selection process, most states are more or less similar. The choir is selected through an extremely rigorous standardized testing procedure. So, in a traditional choir there are 4 parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). For this competition, these 4 parts are further subdivided into 8 parts (i.e. Soprano I, Bass II, etc.)...So to avoid bias, every competitor sings exactly the same one minute (16 bar) excerpt to the specifications of the composer. The real story of heroism is the fact that a volunteer panel of judges listens to the same one minute of music performed a few thousand times. The top 25 competitors for each part who stand out the most then get together for a weekend to work with a great choir professor flown in for the event in a single performance. Since the competition itself basically comes down to the level of precision and detail in preparation, the result is stunning. This audio recording is from 2004. These are the 200 most accomplished high school choir musicians together performing an arrangement of a spiritual (American slave song) "Joshua Fit the Battle" by a great composer named Moses Hogan, who sadly passed in 2003 at only 45 years old. Hope you give it your consideration...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6MbXRnPKpaM.html

I honestly enjoy your exited reaction and the enjoyment you got out of this beautiful performance of Pavarotti. Though I have to correct you on that statement about singer shattering glas with their voice. It is a long standing myth that often gets ressurected through the media. The human voice and ear are neither capable of the sound range or the accurate hearing neccecary to shatter material. Specifically glas (or allmost any material under the right conditions) can be shattered by sound waves. It happens when sound waves resonate to the exact frequency of the material at which it vibrates, thus the force applied to it causes it to break under the duress of the energy applied ( not an expert, please correct me if I am wrong). So we humans are not capable to do so because of our own limitations. Still, a beautiful piece of music and it is very refreshing seeing you two enjoying it. Best wishes from Germany and stay healthy (edited for typos)

Hey Bad Boyz of Texas! I REALLY want to thank you for doing this and showing your honest reactions. Man, you, with many others it seems, are really reaching out to other cultures and demonstrating that MUSIC RISES ABOVE stupid things like the divisive nonsense we have been force-fed these past few years! Can you believe it? I am an amateur musician and my crappy blog has been visited 1/3 million times by 98 countries ... but it's idiot other classical musicians who are planting discord by suggesting that the music of "dead white men" should be set aside in order to promote .... well, anything by women, non whites and alive, I suppose ... Now, I am in FULL favour of promoting art of ALL origins when it is good: and with today's tech, that is becoming so much easier - no need to go through the hoops of the record labels anymore. But there is no need to poo-poo the masterwords of the past, that have conquered the test of time, to do that. You have just proven that music touches the depths of the human spirit, regardless of what we look like or where we come from. So just as I try to expose myself to other cultures too, THANK YOU for having done this!

Here's an explanation of how a powerful singer's voice can shatter a glass: A singer's voice can crack glass through resonance, which occurs when the singer's voice displaces air particles that then crash into the glass like waves. When the singer's voice is amplified, these waves become more powerful. If the glass is amplified enough, it can vibrate so strongly that it shatters.

Dan Sheridan, finally, someone who agrees with me! Mario Lanza was known as the world's most famous tenor, bigger than Pavaratti, Carreras or Domingo and was an inspiration to all three. Carreras once said, "If I am an opera singer it's thanks to Mario Lanza." Lanza died in 1959 of a heart attack at the age of 38, and many people commenting here have no knowledge of him and have not heard his recordings, they only know Pavaratti. When you compare Lanza with Pavoratti it is clear who has the better voice. Mario Lanza had a rich, full, and deep emotional voice. His version of Nessun Dorma is superior because not only can he hit the high "D" but because of the emotion he puts into every word. The songs he recorded for the soundtrack of the "Student Prince" are beautiful, Serenade, I'll Walk with God, Drink, Drink, Drink, Beloved, etc. Everyone should listen to Mario Lanza's recordings. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, but not humble.🎵🎶

On your mouth, I will tell it) quando la luce splenderà! (when the light shines!) Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio (And my kiss will dissolve the silence) che ti fa mia! (that makes you mine!) (Il nome suo nessun saprà) (No one will know his name) (e noi dovrem, ahimè, morir!) (and we must, alas, die!) Dilegua, o notte! (Vanish, o night!) Tramontate, stelle! (Set, stars!) Heya from Germany 🇩🇪please react to Dimash Kudaibergen singing "Ogni Pietra" and his Queen Cover " the show must go on". This guy has an 6 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. It will blow your minds. All the best from Germany and stay safe ☀️ Petra

Charles Marks, Mario Lanza, was the tenor with the beautiful rich, full, and deep emotional voice. I'm not sure if anyone commenting here has listened to his recordings or even knows who he is. When you compare Lanza with Pavoratti it is clear who has the better voice. Lanza's Nessun Dorma is sung with more expression and feeling than Pavoratti's version, in fact, Mario Lanza sings it better than anyone I've listened to, including Enrico Caruso. Lanza does not just sing the notes, he puts feeling into every word. He was considered the world's most famous tenor, bigger than Pavoratti, Carreras or Domingo. Of course, this is just my opinion.🎶🎵

Please react to Dimash Kudaibergen. SOS d'un terrein en detresse is a good place to start. Be sure to find a version with English subtitles. He is from Kazakhstan and sings in several languages. He's trained in classical and contemporary music and has an amazing range from baritone through soprano.

He’s fantastic but watch the Queen Aretha Franklin step in and sing it at the Grammys because he had to cancel. Not her repertoire but her talent is everything.

Try to react to Maria Callas, the best female opera star of them all. She's dead now but this is from the 60s. Habanera from the opera Carmen by Bisset. And yes they school their voices for many years and can break glass. I've seen it happen in smaller audiences/arenas. And opera is like a musical play. Listen to this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6fZRssq7UlM.html Also don't forget: the three tenors performing together Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. Also the very old ones Caruso and Jussi Björling💖

Almost every reactor pronounces LP's first name wrong. It's not lucy like lucy in the sky with diamonds. The c is pronounced like the ch in church.

So the lyrics are sung by a man who has fallen in love with a princess and must defeat 3 challenge to win her hand in marriage, if he fails the challenges he will be executed, basically he is pronouncing his love and exclaiming he will win

No other suitor had been able to answer the 3 riddles, but he did it. But now, if Princess Turandot learns his name by morning, he will be executed. That's why he is anxious for night to be over. And the villagers/chorus know she will torture and kill them in order to learn his name. Man, that princess did NOT want to get married!
