I’m Canadian!! This band is epic!! The lead fellow wrote “Call Me Maybe” Listen to their song To All The Zeros!!! Please!!! I’m not your mom!! Do want you want!! I do suggest this wholeheartedly tho!! I loves yah Cliff!!
My Ex who was Canadian introduced me to these guys when I was like 16 and I still listen to them to this day. I don't think there's a bad song between their first two albums
God, this is still one of my top 3 favorite bands. Just to clarify, very very few of their songs are silly as this one! Most of the time they sing some incredibly heart breaking sad or sappy love songs or long orchestral ballads. I know the last song from the Ever After album and the Masterpiece Theater album are sort of collages of the songs before them on the album, which are super pretty. I'll throw out 'The Killing Kind', 'Echoes of You', and "Haven't Had Enough" as three that show them off really well in different ways! I discovered this band right before a long, 2600 total mile road trip a few years ago and ended up listening to them on repeat for that whole trip, which really ingrained them as one of my favorite groups. Josh Ramsay really has an amazing voice. Keep up the great content, Cliff, I'm jealous of you getting to hear so much amazing music for the first time!
You should check out ALL their stuff -- that thumbnail at the end is for I Knew You When, it's one of their best ones (they have about 12 -17 songs that I ADORE!). Thank you for checking out our Canadian gem of a band!!
I love this band!!!! You should do The Killing Kind from them - my absolute favourite and SO good. Astoria is a great one too, and I like Echoes of You. Their album "Phantoms" is based on a lot of poetry like Edgar Allen Poe, and you've got stuff like Echoes of You being the guy going crazy from heading the heartbeat in the floors, and Killing Kind is an entire ballad to the ghost / his lost love(r). Plus they're just really fun and have some songs you might not realize you already know, especially from the 2010's. Remember Good To You? That's them!
The whole song is satire but it’s also a fucking earworm that you can’t help but bop your head to. Josh Ramsay has done a lot of work with his own band & other people like Carly Rae Jepsen, Nickelback, 5 Seconds of Summer… he’s basically the Canadian Brendan Urie, only thing is he actually understands pop music and his vocal range.
If you liked this one, you should *definitely* do a video for the video you took your first screenshot for: Here's to the Zeroes. Fantastic song, plus it (and the video) are hilarious.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Tom Traubert's Blues (4 Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen)" by Tom Waits (Also known as "Waltzing Matilda"). His voice is so unique that one critic once described it as though "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside & run over with a car"! He's a well-regarded & respected songwriter from within the "Rock" genre from the 70's & 80's. I'd LOVE to hear your take on his signature song. You need to do more of their stuff. Josh is amazing. I would recommend Ever After, Shake Tramp (just cause I love it), Fallout, One Love, Lover Dearest
Finally somebody actually listening to these people. I always have to preface. Did you know that the lead singer of this band, Josh, partially wrote the song call Me maybe. Look at the writing credits. Yes that call Me maybe.
Lol, that's the point. Their band does all kinds of stuff, but this one is blatant satire. He was the one who wrote "call me maybe", and that got a Grammy, but their own work that they really worked hard on got snubbed. So they wrote Pop 101.
Adding my voice to those asking for more Marianas Trench, as they are insanely underrated. But therein lies the problem. One look at this videos views after 2 months vs. literally every other video Cliff Beats released shows that nobody is watching it. Because nobody knows who Marianas Trench is. Then it becomes a choice. A RU-vidr has to make a living, so if a band is getting them so few views, it makes no financial sense to do another vid on them. But the band deserves to be known, and that requires people to put vids out despite the number of views. Not an easy choice.
I can’t monetize their videos anyways but I’m always open to more of their music! That’s not how I operate 😊 Of course compensation would be nice but I’m down for more as long as others are too. The only down turn is if I stick with music people don’t want it kicks me out the algorithm and my videos are de-amplified. So we are kind of forced to play “popular” music.
@@CliffBeatsOfficial If you ever do any more, I'd personally recommend Ever After. There is both an album and a track by that name. The entire album is great (and actually tells a story through the music), but that one track is a good enough taste of it.
