Even more remarkable than her voice is that she put her career on the back burner at the height of it so she could be with her children and family. Amazing person and singer. One of the best country singers in the last 50 years.
Don’t sleep on Martina!!! I can’t think of many other artists that tell stories and bring attention to important issues in such powerful and beautiful ways. Independence Day, Concrete Angel, Broken Wing, and How Far really demonstrate her storytelling and skill. Keep checking her out - she’s a masterclass.
it is Laura, only I didn't see her after she got famous. I was lucky enough to see her playing in various bars in Wichita, Kansas. She sang everything, but excelled with Pat Benatar songs. She had long hair down to her ...lower back. I had a huge crush on her before anyone knew who she was.
Pat Benatar was her idol when she was growing up. In the 90's they did a Crossroads episode together, a show that had a country & rock star together. They were fantastic. Martina's rendition of "somewhere over the rainbow" is the best. That huge voice from that tiny lady is amazing.
If you are truly a vocalist ophicianado you absolutely must listen to more of Martina Mcbride! She has massive range, power and her control is second to none!! Go down this rabbit hole! If you truly love music you will absolutely love Martina!!
Martina has sung covers before (one of her albums is all covers - I think it’s called Timeless). There is nothing wrong with singing songs others have sung if you sing them well. I’ve heard Martina sing a beautiful rendition of “Over the Rainbow” and Reba McEntire’s signature song is “Fancy” which was originally written and performed by Bobbie Gentry.
In 2001, I fell off a 40' cliff, and smacked my head on a rock suffering a class 3 tramdic brain injury. I remember hearing the angles and her voice reminds me of how they sounded. I actually have tears running down my cheeks because of her voice.
This is an original. Please continue to do reactions to her. Be warned you'll want a box of tissues nearby. Martina has done several songs that tell a story. Not a lot of singers sound the same way live as they do on recordings she does!
Must do concrete angel, broken wing, Independence Day. She is so great in concert. Saw her on this album tour. The entire album was fantastic. Not a single track I skip. In my daughters eyes is my fav by her.
Martina is one of my favorite artists, country or other. Only thing is......she is notorious for pulling on the heart strings & making your eyeballs leak....lol. Independence Day, Anyways, Concrete Angel, God's Will, In My Daughter's Eyes, Broken Wing, ugh I could go on & on. That voice, the lyrics, those piercing blue eyes. Martina is one of a kind❤
Recommend "A Broken Wing" by Martina from Farm Aid. Also - "When You Say Nothing At All" - Alison Krauss "Strawberry Wine" - Deana Carter "Follow Your Arrow" - Kacey Musgraves My favorite songs by female country artists
I saw her live with Garth Brooks back in the day when her husband was selling merch for Garth. Garth was the hugest country star and she kind of came out of nowhere when she started opening his shows. Blew me away, 100% and I have loved her ever since. ❤️👑
Before her & her husband moved to Nashville & got a start with Garth Brooks she sang in a band called The Penetrators & before that she sang with her father's band the Schiffters (Martina Schiff). She was an amazing singer even back then.
Martina is more country than pop depending on which song it is. Country music and rock music go hand in hand. Bon Jovi will slip into Nashville occasionally listen to local artists sing for inspiration! You should explore country music but be very particular about which artist and song or you will be disappointed! Thanks for sharing!
I’m a big Whitney Houston fan, I love women with a rich tone, Martina is it for country music for me her song “in my daughter’s eyes” is one of my favorites…she is such a beautiful Kansas born country girl
Martina has so many hits- her voice is so rich and full. If exceptional guitar playing is something that excites you, listen to Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill sing “How Great Thou Art”- it’s good like this song …but on steroids it’s so good!
Love this! This is one my fav songs from Martina. Have seen her live multiple times. She doesn't disappoint. If you want to see her with a live band check out her Farm Aid live performance of A Broken Wing. Incredible. Her song How Far is also fantastic.
Hey SalvoG, go watch "Concrete Angle" Martina McBride is one of the best Vocalists in the world even today... There are entertainers that sing, dance on stage & then you have Martina McBride that really knows how to sing period, without props or dancers needed to prop up like other singers do. Martina doesn't need to prove anything... 🍀
He needs to check out the Armenian singer Harout Pamboukjian - original, soulful, astoundingly effortless & professional performer. Also the Turkish singer Ferdi Tayfur - not necessarily the world's best singer but by far Earth's most emotional vocalist. . Ferdi packs more nuanced punch in a single sentence than most great singers have in an entire song. Lastly, Turkish singer Ibrahim Tatlises - their country's biggest selling singer of all time. He has such astounding vocal control and flexibility , able to change notes three or four times in a second - almost like his voice is "fluttering". These three singers rocked my American world when I discovered them at around the age of 40. Never again has it mattered if I understood a single world of any foreign language.
If you want something new, check out Ringmasters. They are a championship barbershop quartet from Sweden. You’ll never walk alone/Climb every mountain medley is fantastic!!!!!!!
i am not a fan of country, but martina mcbride is excelsior when it comes to the genre. i want megadeth and pantera, but im not getting cringe face when it comes to her. she is the best.
That's an old clip and unfortunately since then Martina has pretty much lost her voice completely. Check out some recent live footage on RU-vid and you can see for yourself what a difference there is. Besides when a performer becomes political they generally alienate their audience... especially when the country is in the shape it's in now under the administration she's so boldly supported.
