I am Persian, a heavy metal guitarist, and really enjoy the way they utilize phyrigian scale and made me learn it as well. I like heavy/thrash metal and not really into screaming vocals but I think Melechesh style fits well with the vocals of Ashmedi. The first two albums of this band have terrible quality but the other albums are fire. Freakin heavy stuff. Melechesh is an Amazing band, a completely different style to other death metal bands. You can find many unique phyrigian scale riffs and solos in their songs. React to ladders to summeria and Enki- divine nature awoken . kickass stuff.
Artillery, Bolt Thrower, iron Maiden - those are some bands from the past which really could use the phrygian scale, but Melechesh utilize it at best. Ashmedi is an amazing musician.
I suspect you didn't reacted to the official lyric video on purpose but that has a better sound quality by far. Anyway thank you very much for the prompt reaction. These vocals type are not exactly from my alley either but I found the lyrics very intriguing and combined with the rest of the song tasty mix it makes a good listen. For a more thrash style of vocals with the same oriental a thmosphere there is Artillery - Khomaniac. It's about the Iranian Ayatolah Khomaini. It has all the good stuff thrash has to offer but they went a bit further and has more treats to offer.
