This song was written by Benni and Bjorn of ABBA for the musical chess produced by Andrew Lloyd Webb this musical has been performed on broadway and west end for over thirty years and it’s still as popular today as it was back then

The vocal effect is called "Lo-Fi". It makes it sound like a really old microphone from 1930-ish was used to record his vocals.

Chess is my favourite musical ever. There is not a bad or out of place song throughout. Some truely heartbreaking moment for both the main male and female roles. The other two great stand out songs to react to are 'I Know Him So Well' (do the original Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson version) and The Anthem, best version again the original sung by Swedish singer Tommy Kroberg.

It is truly one of the only soundtracks that I never skip a song and I am not huge on instrumental pieces but the ones in this musical are gorgeous! And I was going to suggest IKHSW as well as Nobody's Side Elaine Paige's voice is top notch

Chess actually isnt that hard to learn. My daughter taught me to play in under 5 minutes. What IS hard...is learning to play it WELL 😉

Love this tune, "Chess' was a Broadway play in which this song was featured, Fun Facts: The song was banned in Thailand (go figure), Murray Head has an Actor brother who played the arrogant owner of a rival soccer team in 'Ted Lasso'

Murray Head was the original Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. This song is the opening song of the second act of "CHess The Musical" written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA. Time Rice wrote the lyrics. Is is a fabulous rock opera.

Chess is an awesome musical from some of the best - music by Björn and Benny (from ABBA) and lyrics Tim Rice. There are so many great details in this song! And yes I do play chess but I suck at it... 😂 I'm from Denmark by the way,

Chanced upon your reaction to this song, obe of the best from the misical Chess. Another superb song from the same musical is I Know Him So Well, about two women singing about the same lover. Even if you don't post a reaction to it, it's worth listening to.
