Jim Morrison was way ahead of his time! He was also one of the sexiest men ever! He was a gifted lyricist and a dynamic performer! He is buried in Paris in the same cemetery as Oscar Wilde who was one of his idols! Great reaction I know you have heard some of their songs you just may not have known it was them! Love that you are looking back at the legends!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I love the band, but he was a nutbag. He told so many big lies, I don't know how he stayed relevant. I'm glad he did. One hell of a band. His lyrics were top notch.
So,,he was a product of Laurel Canyon, prob MKUltra'd,his father was responsible for the whole Bay of Tonkin debacle which started the Vietnam war,,he had multiple addictions~BUT he was sexy af,had charisma to spare and will be forever remembered young,, 27 years of age.......younger than my youngest son is now🤦♀️
If there was any person who would fake his own death, it would have been this guy. Unlike all the 'Elvis is alive' rumors there is actually some weirdness with his death and it could be possible. Plus as already said, they guy was a pure nut.
Jim Morrison was an agent of chaos. A real shit stirrer. At a lot of their concerts if they were even allowed to put them on, the cops would be waiting in the wings to arrest him for his antics. RIP Jim. We miss you
I've loved The Doors for years and Jim Morrison's voice was amazing. You need to also check out Riders on the Storm, People are Strange, Light my Fire, LA Woman and Break on Through. All of which are great. Their stuff is really atmospheric. I'm convinced I like people like Lana Del Ray and Billie Eilish today because I found the Doors when I was young.
The way he could switch from smooth crooner to wailing banshee was crazy. His spoken word voice was like a cool breeze and so hypnotic. The Lizard King was one of the best to ever do it.
When Jim got on stage, he ruled the world.... during a song, he would just take off on his own, and the band got so good they could follow his lead wherever he would take them.... Jim was a poet first and then singer.....
@@editorcj You got it backwards. In the studio, they hired session bassists because the Rhodes bass piano didn't record well. On stage, Ray played the bass piano with his left hand, just as boogie-woogie pianists do.
At his best, the best rock frontman ever. Had everything Elvis had PLUS a dangerous edge. In four years they put out 7 iconic albums. You need to do a deep dive on them.
The Doors were one of the most influential bands of the 60's. Interesting that you used Tupac in comparison as He and Jim are credited as being two of the best poets of the 'rock age', I would suggest checking out a handful more songs just to become familiar with them and then check out the fantastic movie that Oliver Stone did with Val Kilmer playing Jim, it will answer a lot of the questions surrounding what was going on with all the cops etc...
Jim was arrested more than once for lewd actions onstage. Let’s see, how should I put this without being too graphic? Okay, he exposed his junk. So yeah, he was a “public menace” but he sure could put on an amazing show. I saw The Doors twice in ‘67 before they became famous.
No. The arrest on stage we saw was is New Haven Connecticut for inciting a riot. The arrest for indecency (miami) came long after the concert was over.
Almost everybody gets the facts & details wrong. The arrest we saw here was a b.s. charge of inciting to riot after being pepper sprayed by the cops backstage. He was arrested while he was telling the audience about it. In Miami, he DID NOT expose himself, though he was saying he was going to. No witnesses said they saw it. There are no pictures of it. Years after his death, he was exonerated.
I was priveleged to see the Doors live in concert in St. Louis in 1968. It was one of the most amazing concerts I have ever seen. The place was packed out & Jim Morrison literally had the entire audience mesmerized! Never seen anything like it and in a way it was kind of spooky! I swear he could have had the entire audience do anything he asked! Incredible band & so sad we lost Jim so soon!
Jim was a poet, singer, and revolutionary badass mofo! I was a little jr. hippie and my older friends took me to see the Doors at New Haven Coliseum. The footage you saw of him being taken offstage was from that concert! The New Haven cops were hassling all of us in the audience and Jim having a previous confrontation and being roughed up by them before the show, led him to haranging them with the appropriate EFF the pigs, and putting them down for being the red-necked bullies that they were. The man had no filter and more I.Q. than most, a legend. Peace & Love from Connecticut.
OMG you're gonna love the Doors. One of the most iconic groups from the late 60s and early 70s. They were pioneers in creating unique psychedelic, blues and acid rock music. As you've seen Jim was wild and uncontrollable which probably contributed to his early death at age 27. The band got their name from an autobiographical book, ‘Doors of Perception,’ by famous author Aldous Huxley who recounts in it his experiences with psychedelics and its mystical insights.
One of the best bands of all time... The Soft Parade song and album is fucking phenomenal. L.A woman is one of my favorite albums of all time and the self title album is pure gold as well and Strange Days is another one. Honestly they have so much good music. An American Prayer is something very unique and beautiful. "Is everybody in? Is everybody in? Is everybody in? The ceremony is about to begin." "Wake up!" Do yourself a favor and watch The Doors movie with Val Kilmer, seriously the best movie based on a musician ever made. Also, the keyboardist Ray is such a gem, truly makes their sound along with Jim's unique voice and Robbie is one hell of a guitar player.
Jim Morrison was an icon. In 1981 over 10 years after he passed, the Doors were still being played on the radio and Jim still made the cover of Rolling Stone magazine the cover caption was 'He's Hot, He's Sexy, He's Dead'.
We saw The Door in the Men’s Gym at Long Beach State College on Friday, December 1, 1967. Opening act, Canned Heat. ‘Tis a magical musical memory, still turning in the windmills of my mind.
Now you hit my soft spot 😮 this band I fell in love with when I was 12 years old and it's the first band that made me fall in love with music and want to know more about a band😂❤❤ Please bring way more doors on your channel
After Jim Morrison passed the members of the doors had taken his recordings of his book an American prayer and put it to music 😮it's mind-blowing good but it's a long listen but I think the door's fans will show up for you on this one❤❤
When you get the chance check out the movie, "The Doors". It stars Val Kilmer as the Lizard King and Meg Ryan is his squeeze. There's a bit part for Billy Idol in it too. FWIW Val sings the songs himself. I think he did a great job and it really tells the story as closely as possible. Just so you know they didn't have a bass player. Ray Manzarek played it on his keyboards. My favorite Doors song.🤩
You’ve heard “Light My Fire” somewhere, even growing up like you did. Their whole debut album is magical. “Break On Through” I think was the first single. “The Crystal Ship” is a beautiful psychedelic dream.
The Doors catalogue is one of the greatest musical journeys you will ever go on. They were magical, mysterious, dark, quirky, deep, chaotic, dreamy, interesting, weird, and one of the coolest bands ever. A band packed with extremely talented and highly creative individuals.
By 1994 I was two years into a Doors obsession. I wore leather pants in high school 😂. For me it was Riders on the Storm that made me stop and watch Oliver Stones film about the group. I was 12 and life would never be the same. lol
SO many Doors songs you need to get funky with: My absolute fave (tied with Roadhouse Blues) is *Peace Frog,* but others that you MUST hear for a well-rounded musical education are *Break on Through, Light My Fire, Back Door Man, Hello I Love You, People Are Strange, LA Woman* ...there are just so many more!
I love seeing youngsters discover the power. Start at the beginning and keep going. I bought the first album from a drugstore before I heard them on the a.m. radio ("Break on Through") and the first time I heard "Light MY Fire" was in a crowded head shop on a busy saturday night in Haight-Ashbury.
BP Val Kilmer did an amazing job playing Jim Morrison in the movie The Doors that the original Doors sit in the theatre and cried. It was such an amazing thing to see just how much he looked like him. Loved the reaction R.I.P to the legends no longer here 🎉🎉🎉
Jim Morrison was so sexy! I had his poster on my wall in high school. He was also very intelligent and talented. Such a great loss. So many awesome songs for you to rabbit hole on. Check out some news articles on them too. He was arrested for being "too sexy on stage". Gloria, Riders on the Strom, People Are Strange, the list is long bro! Enjoy! Oh yeah, they were banned from Ed Sullivan because Jim didn't change the lyric in Come on Baby Light My Fire. Check that one out!!!
Jim Morrison is a legend, in my opinion! If u keep going down the Classic rock & Folk rock rabbitholes, it's going to blow ur mind how much amazing music u have missed out on! You should check out Jethro Tull and Joe Cocker!
Morrison was a poet who became a rock star. Their entire catalog is worth a listen. They played my first concert in Chicago in 1970. Morrison tossed beers to the crowd during the show. They are one of the greatest American rock bands of sll time. ✌️❤️🎶
Mr Mojo Risin! -his own anagram for his name! The doors and Jim Morrison were my first big love when it comes to music! He is the main reason I have had long hair for the past 3 decades... When I was in my early teens I was infatuated with Jim he was wild and free like nothing I had ever seen... He pretended to have sex on stage, had fights with cops and effed around and found out all the time! He was a poet, a liar, a sexgod and rock prophet. An introvert attentionseeker. A beautifull weirdo shockartist shaman. LOL Jim was just anti establishment. He acted like he was bigger than life and he always pushed back and got on ppls nerves. He was not of this world. Good thing I didn't end up joining club 27. lol I reccomend L.A. Woman i just love the way that track and album roll!
Jim Morrison was cool AF because he just didn't care and didn't try. He was effortlessly brilliant... but probably not a very good person in all honesty. Nonetheless, their music was legendary and I hope you continue to explore more of it. 💙
Mr Mojo Risin', (the anagram he came up with from his own name) was what he chose to call himself at times... a hint of the creative genius he was. Definitely check out "The Doors" movie for more insight on the amazing man he was. And thank you for your reaction!
Spanish Caravan, Peace Frog is super funky, Crystal Ship, etc. Jim Morrison is the lead singer, Robbie Kruger on guitars and the fab Ray Manzarek on keys. Jim used to really push the envelope when venues insisted on using cops for security. He hated them. lol He got arrested a lot.
I would think it would be really awesome if you check out the soft parade it'll definitely confuse you but it also makes you understand where Ren gets some of his inspiration from😊
Raised on this...Took it to 6th grade for art class; each child got 1 day each to pick an album and bring for the class to listen to while we worked on art projects... I brought a Doors album and handed it to the teacher...He looked at it, side eyed me and chuckled; certainly expecting something different from a young girl.... told me I had good taste...Never forgot that. 1978 Maybe....
They are legend. This is one of their biggest hits. All the girls were more crazy over Jim Morrison than Elvis. You should watch the documentary of his life. People Are Strange is really fantastic. Very psychedelic. It was like a cult thing. The police and state and city leaders thought he was just such a bad influence they would ban them. They also busted him with drugs. Parents were serious about this being the devils music. He also got to where at times he was too messed up to perform. He was truely addicted. I found that to be heartbreaking the way his life ended up.
I grew up in the late 70's and early 80's, during the hair metal era. When I joined the air force in 1992, a friend had the Jim Morrison iconic poster on his wall. When I asked him who it was, he looked at me like I was stupid and just said "Jim Morrison!" I got really into The Doors a few years later, they are still one of my favorite groups!
Riders on the Storm is a must❤ Jim Morrison one of the greatest front men ever! The Doors one of the greatest rock bands ever 😂 Legendary ❤ The End mesmerizingly beautiful ❤
Navy Rear Admiral George Steven Morrison was Jim Morrison’s father. He was a military kid too. Jim was every bit as charismatic and iconic as his reputation.
I was lucky to party with them in 1969 may in Philadelphia, luck me, all hell broke loose when he came on, god he was do dam hot, his eyes, i was so amazed to meet my man, angel hugs my love💜💜💜
I read his poetry when I was in high school. Of course, I was super into the Doors but that was a gateway to Jim. At his grave in Paris, everyone would draw arrows on other people's graves for all the people coming to see his grave. I didn't even need a map. I love the Doors' song called "Soul Kitchen" but Roadhouse Blues is for sure one of my favorites. He was soooooooo out there. He burned so bright that he died really young.
I drank my first drop of Whiskey with some globetrotters sitting next to Jim Morrison's grave. I was obsessed with the Doors, and they are still mesmerizing. BP, thank you for giving them some airtime. You might know their song 'This is the End', which is from Apocalypse Now. What a movie.
You never knew what you were going to run into at their concerts - Jim Morison - was crazy American freedom. The blending of a funk blues keyboard, flamingo guitar player and Jazz drums.
When the Doors were on the Ed Sullivan show in 1967, a producer came to the door and said they had to change the line "Girl, we couldn't get uch higher." Said it was "inappropriate. " They purportedly agreed but then went out and sang it the way it was written. The show producers were furious and said they had wanted to book the Doors for 5 more appearances, but they would never be on the Ed Sullivan show again. Jim apparently said, "Hey man, we just did the Ed Sullivan show."
Jim Morrison was man in love. He was a fantastic poet a rap artist will find songs like LA Woman, Light My Fire, and more hauntingly beautiful. Too many great great artists dies at 27. It’s a real thing check out their music and compare. Its interesting.
The Soft Parade album is my favorite album. Everything they produced was great. I suggest watching The Doors Live at the Hollywood Bowl, 1968. My sisters were there 3rd row center. The tickets cost $8.00. The Doors are Iconic. The album Strange Days epitomizes the music of the psychedelic era. Their music continues to live on. Jim Morrison, vocals, lyricist and poet. He was an avid reader, heavily influenced by the beat poets. Ray Manzarek, keyboards Robbie Krieger, Guitarist (classically trained). He wrote Light my Fire John Densmore, percussionist (classically trained). He held his drumsticks in a different way than other drummers did at that time. John and Robbie are the only who are alive.
Jim Morrison was the definition of put your foot to the metal and never let up once until the wheels fall off. The Doors the Movie by Oliver Stone is mindblowing if not always 100% accurate.
The BEST one to react to is "The End" as it captures the best of the trippy sound of the Doors. I saw the biopic movie The Doors in the movies over and over as I worked at AMC. It was spectacular as they played movies for months sometimes back then.
Hello I found your RU-vid December 2023. I am almost twice your age and you are REACTING to so many of my favorite songs, groups and music. I am thankful. ☆☆
I had my Doors thing in the early 80s. Read No one Here Gets Out Alive, grooved to all their albums. Morrison Hotel stuck out for me. Saw the Robbie and Ray Doors show in the 90s. John Densmore is one killer drummer. Great band. Jim could be considered as one of the best front men in rock.
Happy to see you've discovered another modern music influential bands. These are The Doors songs that are on my regular listening rotation: · Break On Through · Love Me Two Times · Light My Fire · People Are Strange · Back Door Man · Love Her Madly · Riders On The Storm · Hello, I Love You · L.A. Woman · Touch Me · Roadhouse Blues For the love of music in all its forms.
Most rock groups have a bass guitarist and at least one or two other guitarists. The Doors didn't have a bass guitarist (at least not in their live performances) - the bass notes were played on the keyboard by Ray Manzarek. Crazy to hear how full their sound is with just one keyboard player, one guitarist and a drummer
My favorite band of all time! I have listening to them since the late 60's. Jim Morrison was a Navy brat. He is also a published poet. His music has never gotten old.
Jim was a part of the 27 club. Look at a movie by Oliver stone called the doors. Also look at other concerts. Jim was wild the footage in this video is from the Hollywood bowl
The Doors were a seminal and culturally important significant band. And they were good. Really moving at their best. It is great to see a younger man than I connect to popular music history on a high level. Keep exploring!
Love Jim Morrison ❤The whole band was crazy talented! Only 3 band members but sounded like 8 lol. Jim was deep into Spirituality and their name came from one of Jim's favorite writers Aldous Huxley 'Doors of Perception'. Jim was drunk or high for most of his performances and it got worse in the 70s until he passed. Pretty much ALL of their songs are EPIC!! Light my Fire was huge, Love Me 2 Times, Love Her Madly, Break on Through, Peace Frog, Crystal Ship....thank you for your videos!! ❤
