This song does make you feel some type of way. The best way i can describe it is that even though I've never heard of this song before, when i heard it for the first time i instantly felt nostalgic.

The song he's singing is an old sea shanty that dates back to the early 1800s or even as early as the 1400s

1400s is absolute pure nonsense. Tea wasn't even introduced to the north until 250 years later. Here is the real story: The song was written around 1830. The brothers Joseph Brooks, George and Edward Weller emigrated from Folkestone, Kent, to Sydney in 1823 and within 10 years had established themselves as the region’s preeminent merchant traders. At the time, whaling was a prime export industry of New South Wales while, in New Zealand, the Wellers’ whaling station base at Ōtākou on the Otago Peninsula was the first enduring European settlement of what is now Dunedin city. (Their ship, the Lucy Ann, also went on to be crewed by one Herman Melville.) But by 1841 the Wellers’ business had collapsed. As Ronald Jones writes in Te Ara national encyclopaedia, that period of seafaring industry “slipped unobtrusively out of the pages of New Zealand history” - preserved only through song. Wellerman’s six verses tell the epic tale of a ship, the Billy of Tea, and its crew’s battle - “for 40 days, or even more” - to land a defiant whale. With the struggle ongoing at the shanty’s end, “the Wellerman makes his regular call, to encourage the Captain, crew and all”.

@@Atlas_Redux notice how I said “or even as early as” that doesn’t mean it *IS* as early as the 1400s. Also about your other comment claiming I’m lying. This was a year ago but most importantly pirates have been around since the 1400s so it’s not like it’s impossible that they had a sea shanty dating back that far.

@@Staxx0 For the SECOND time, this song was made and written in the 1830s. So why even mentioning the 1400s, which makes zero sense. You even see in the lyrics they talk about transporting tea. Tea did not exist in the Northern regions before hundreds of years later. Please stop posting misinformation. Stick to facts, Trump.

ALSO, the first sea shanty written that was not this song was around 1650. So you're wrong there too, Trump.

@@Atlas_Redux seems that the point didn’t stick with you. So you got that. And what about trump? Lmao. Let’s hope you’re not about to go on a looney rant.

Hi, just to clarify, @Staxx0 is spreading some sillyness about this song. Tea wasn't even introduced to the north until 250 years later. Here is the real story: The song was written around 1830.
