I dont think NEVERMORE has ever been featured on reaction channel guitarist jeff loomis is one of the best prog.guitarist in the world huge talent great band
Thank you for getting to this song. Jeff Loomis is a monster guitar player and Warrel Dane's vocals are definitely unique. One of those bands I failed to see live when they were together. I'm disappointed in myself for that.
Freaking awesome that you’re doing Nevermore. One of my favorite metal bands. They’re in my top 15. Amazing guitar work and the drums hit hard. RIP Warrell Dane, who is the lead singer. He was also the singer for the band Sanctuary. And this album you’re doing is total fire also. You’ll appreciate Warrell Danes voice for sure. Jeff Loomis guitar playing is flawless. He’s top notch. Definitely check out this song “This Godless Endeavor
Favorite band of all time. Have a few tattoos concerning them. I remember when I first found out about them. It was like a multi-media cd that was a "bonus disc"... had around 100-200 songs. Mainly Century Media artists. The song was "Deconstruction." I was 16 when I first heard it.....20 years later.....still gives me chills listening to this band!
@bobbyball77 yes it was the metal for the masses multimedia cd. Couldn't remember the name. Good call. Yeah that thing had some pretty good stuff on it. Some pretty bad stuff, too haha.
Nevermore came out of an earlier band called Sanctuary, who made two albums in the late 1980s. They were more traditional metal crossed with thrash elements. Check out killer vocals of Warrel Dane on Sanctuary track Battle Angels. You will love it.
An American metal band from Seattle that formed in 1991 and was inactive since 2011 and officially disbanded in 2015. Never heard of this band, but they sounded good to me. I will need to explore further.
I saw them live in Cleveland in 2010. I had VIP passes and got to meet the band, and got autographs from Warrel Dane, Jeff Loomis, and Van Williams. I got to watch Jeff Loomis warming up, on the back patio. I believe that was the last pit I ever got in. I'm getting too old for such things, and I'm already missing enough teeth.
I wondered if you’d find Nevermore great prog metal band started as a called sanctuary in the 1980’s and then formed Nevermore the guitarist is Jeff loomis and he is one of the best guitarist out there they have had other great players like Chris Broderick of megadeth fame along side Jeff loomis, Jeff now plays with arch enemy
Nevermore came in the 90's and gave extreme metal a dynamic new edge w/ a technical delivery, but it would not catch on until the 2000's... Unfortunately, the band split up by 2011 before their full potential could be realized... Vocalist Warrel Dane passed away in 2017 (R.I.P.) Before Nevermore, vocalist Warrel Dane was in an 80's heavy metal band Sanctuary. Their debut album 'Refuge denied' (1988) was produced by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine... Nevermore's other connection to Megadeth was when guitarist Jeff Loomis auditioned for Megadeth around 1989 but was not hired because he was still a teenager. Sanctuary released a 2nd album 'Into the mirror black' (1990), but split up in 1991 just as Jeff Loomis (guitar) joined the band... Warrel Dane (vocals), Jim Sheppard (bass) of Sanctuary formed Nevermore w/ Jeff Loomis (guitar) and released their debut album in 1995. Pat O'Brien (guitar) and Van Williams (drums) joined Nevermore for the 2nd album 'The politics of ecstasy' (1996)... but O'Brien left in 1997 and joined Cannibal Corpse soon after. Despite not selling commercially, Nevermore was gaining fanfare in the metal scene... Their 3rd album 'Dreaming Neon Black' (1999) was a concept album and was highly acclaimed. Vocalist Warrel Dane wrote the album about his ex-girlfriend Patricia Candace Walsh, who became famous for the wrong reasons... She had apparently joined a Christian cult group and ceased all contact w/ Dane after marrying one of the members. Dane recalled having nightmares about Walsh screaming for help while drowning... Patricia Walsh and her husband Douglas Zyskowski were later revealed to be victims of a serial killer Robert Rhoades (aka 'The Truck Stop Killer') who picked them up in his truck... He killed Zyskowski and dumped his body, and then held Patricia Walsh captive for a week - raping and torturing her before killing her and dumping her body. Rhoades was arrested in 1990 and convicted in 1994... Photos of Patricia Walsh were found at his home, her body was found that year. 4th album 'Dead heart in a dead world' in 2000 became a fan favorite as Nevermore began selling more records without any commercial promotion... 5th album 'Enemies of reality' was another success in 2003, despite no support from the record label. Nevermore was able to get a better contract and released 'This Godless endeavor' in 2005 as the record appeared in sales charts across Europe... Nevermore toured extensively into 2008 and released a live CD and DVD 'The Year of the Voyager' w/ Chris Broderick on guitar, who would join Megadeth by weird coincidence in '08. Nevermore's final album 'The Obsidian conspiracy' (2010) charted all over Europe and even appeared on the Billboard 200 charts... However, the band fell apart internally by 2011 after both Jeff Loomis and Van Williams quit the band citing alcohol issues for the band's breakup. In 2012, Warrel Dane (and bassist Jim Sheppard) reformed Sanctuary and released a comeback album 'The year the sun died' in 2014, which also charted on the Billboard 200... That same year, Jeff Loomis (guitar) joined the band Arch Enemy. Sanctuary was slated to tour in 2018, while Warrel Dane announced that he was working on a new solo album in Brazil... hoping to make it like the next Nevermore record musically. In late 2017, Warrel Dane died in Brazil of a heart attack... Sanctuary did their tour w/ a fill-in vocalist. Some of Nevermore's classic songs - 'Believe in Nothing' ... 'Final product' ... 'Born'... 'Narcosynthesis' ... 'Poison godmachine' ... 'Enemies of reality'... 'What tomorrow knows'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
The craziest thing about the this song hands down is Leff Loomis' solo, B U T even more interesting is everything present in the background during it. Engineering the inverted decay on those snare hits to sound like crashing waves, the serpentine meandering of the bass guitar, and finally the digital delay on the final note of the solo which represents the fragments of the bridge washing away. This song knocks me out of my shoes!
Nevermore had their biggest following overseas from America. They had a solid following in the states but Americans were not as open to Warrels vocal style during their run from the early 90s to 2011 as other music fans world wide. They were able to fill medium venues in the States and saw their biggest US run on Gigantour where they stole the show all tour. Really incredible band that mastered their craft which didn't totally fit any particular genre, but beneath the amazing musicianship the band displays, Warrel was an incredible lyric writer. Perhaps his best writing came on Dreaming Neon Black, written about an ex-girlfriend who suddenly split up with him and shortly after got married and ventured away with her husband on the road, potentially to join what some considered a religious cult. Unfortunately, while hitchhiking, they got a ride with infamous The Truck Stop Killer. The serial killer murdered Patricia's husband right away, but kept Patricia hostage for a few days before ultimately ending her life also. At the time, nobody knew what happened to Warrel's ex girlfriend and her husband, they had simply packed up and vanished. During the investigation into her disappearance, Warrel was in contact with investigators and later cleared of any involvement. Over a period of time, Warrel stated he frequently had dreams about Patricia and had an overwhelming sense that she was no longer alive, had drowned, or was near water. He wrote an entire album regarding his feelings and dreams about this event. Many years later, a skeleton was discovered near a small body of water, through DNA testing advances, eventually these remains were identified as Patricia. Eventually the Truck Stop Killer was arrested after a failed kidnapping and eventually confessed to having murdered Patricia & her Husband around 2003. I recommend reading about Patricia Candace Walsh and then doing a dive into the album Dreaming Neon Black from Nevermore. Its haunting, yet heartfelt and an incredible story.
Nevermore gets so little love, but what an amazing band and amazing musicians, be it what you would call a power ballad or straight metal. Its smart, its just damn good. Love these guys.
I just commented (here-now) and liked and subbed b/c Nevermore.... NOW!!!! The Terms of service require that If I dislike your opinion on Nevermore..... that you are to be immediately transferred to a "REAL" Metal Re-Education zone..... Carry on.....
The lyric of Nevermore are amazing, and the reason behind them is also shocking. Here in The River Dragon Has Come the story is about a Dam exploded in China by their own gov. during WWII to try and hit the japanese forces but instead it kill countless chinese citizens. That's the deep meaning behind this song. Is actually a chinese dragon, not a western one, since the flood wave comes like a serpent dragon over the valley.
Try. Reaction to. Battle beast. If you do female singers in metal. Its not theree new songs but i think it was the one that realy shows her range its called. Black ninja !!
You gu forget the people youre saying they sound like were barly born .lol. you haveit backwards. NEVERMORE. Has influenced so many bands. Been aounnd since. Mid 80s with. Sanctuary. Jeff lommis. On guitar. Is now. With. Arch enemy. Singer has sadly passed away few years past. There a hudge inspiration to musicians. In many countries !!!
I never quite understood why this is a song people react to. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it's not even close to their best. Love the drums as always. And everything else. They got better though.
