Now that you have heard the lyric "We were here" it must be time to the epic version of "We were here" in The Greatest Show On Earth from the Tampere concert.
Yeah, except I'd recommend the Wembley version from this show, I know, Tampere has a surprise at the start, but I like Wembley better, Troy playing E-bow just fit the song so much better.. And ofc the ending with you know who..
@@ChristianSander1969 I´d prefer him to watch the Tampere-version of the Song, but the Ending of the Wembley-Version. I wonder why nobody ever cut these videos together... xD
@@ChristianSander1969 Yes i understand choice towards both versions, Tampere profits from the fact that it is outdoor venue, while Wembley has different atmosphere and also the presence of Richard Dawkins personally... Any of them is good choice. Depending upon how good you're at catching words of a song (i suck as English is foreign language, however i have many attempts as there is no song by Nightwish i listened to only once:) you might want lyrics embeded but it is not essential...
Nothing wrong with a goofy smile! We all get that way when listening to phenomenal music! I've seen the band pop up lately in my feed, including your channel. I knew I had to check out your reaction first. 😁 Symphonic Metal what a combination!!
Mr. Taylor. . . . . .Good stuff ! Now, watch carefully, at the end of this Floor goes to Tuomas' podium and sings the line "conquering the darkest places", make note, this song came immediately before "The Poet and the Pendulum" in the Wembley set, and when you know the whole sorry back-story to that piece you'll understand. Enjoy the ride, Nightwish will not disappoint.
Since this is your first song from after Wacken, you may have noticed a different drummer. Kai Hahto replaced Jukka Nevalainen in 2014. Jukka stepped away from performing due to health issues caused by severe insomnia. You have also just met multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley (from the UK) . Here he is playing an Irish Bouzouki (relative of the Mandola) and an Irish Low Whistle. Suggestions for original lead singer Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen: their cover of Phantom of the Opera or Nemo, both from the End of an Era concert in 2005. For more from Wembley, try 7 Days to the Wolves or Yours is an Empty Hope. Edit: You mentioned possibly going to one of their shows. You get a chance in November. They are scheduled to play London Nov 21 and Birmingham Nov 22.
I love this band, i had some bad times in my life and listening this band really helped me allot! It makes me happy to listen them. Great reaction from you!
Nice East Yorkshire accent you have! Troy Donockley of Nightwish is originally from Cumbria, but has lived near York for more than 30 years. I used to see him perform with various bands in York back in the day. Standouts from older days would include "Sleeping Sun" and covers of "Phantom of the Opera" and Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" at the Hartwall Arena from 2006.
so, when you say "i am checking them all out" ... then there is nothing left to recommend, but a lot of fun and joy to come. makes my happy, thank you ! i WILL check them all out
This is great Feel Good song 🤘❤🔥🤘. Alpenglow is an optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite to the Sun when the solar disk is just below the horizon. This effect is easily visible when mountains are illuminated, but can also be seen when clouds are lit through backscatter. And Alpenglow Rockshelter: Archaeological site named after Nightwish Song. The Jubjub Bird is a creature that appears in Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
In my opinion, the best official video of nightwish to go for, is the MV to "Noise" and believe me, that song will hit you in a different way. but it will hit you right in the face... "WE WERE HERE" - these words will be written on my Gravestone, one day...
In the Wembley setlist, 'Alpenglow' is the first of three songs in the middle of the set that I'm betting will take you on the same intense and emotional roller coaster ride that many of us have experienced. The three-song triplet actually hits me each time I watch it and I know every single note that is coming. Keep reacting! Thanks!
One of the best videos I have ever seen is 'Noise', the one they released with the new album 'Human Nature'. It's absolutely stunning visually but also vocally and it has a clear message to all of us. In addition Nightwish released 'lyric videos' for every song of this new album, all of them quite remarkable. Keep them coming.....🤘🐺
Hey man, loving your reactions and you get it. Nightwish is not just another band, they are like brothers and sisters up there, doing what they love to do with people they love and respect.
From Anette I would recommend also Amaranth (official video), Turn Loose The Mermaids, The Crow, The Owl And The Dove, Bye Bye Beautiful (official video)... Maybe I forgot some?
Great reaction again fella! Definitely get to a show, I saw them at Bloodstock 2018 and will be at the Birmingham gig in November. Floor's grin as Empu wandered behind was likely due to his regular cheeky attempt at switching off her radio mic! 😉🤟
On the topic of Music video's here's a bit of factual trivia to think about. Nightwish and Nightwish fans have so much love and loyalty for each other that when some Nightwish fans thought it would be cool to create there own video for Nightwish songs Nightwish loved it so much they kept it and these can be seen here on You tube. Now how many bands would do that?. That's respect! So Nightwish videos are official by the band and excepted official but made by fans.
Another nice reaction. Nightwish are the ultimate 'feel-good' band, yet they perform songs on some quite sincere and serious subjects. You're also right on their stage shows, their visuals and presence on stage are wonderful. For info - the last Wembley concert has been delayed twice ( 2 years because of the pandemic) so they are now due at Wembley Arena on the 27th of November this year. Might be worth checking out availability.
If could be nice if you check Nightwish song - Siren - from the End of an Era, Live (2005 gig). The singer it was their first singer Tarja Turunen... I hope and trust, that you will love it... Greetings from Finland 😊 🥁 🇫🇮
FLoor is great again!!! 👏 Proud she is Dutch! 😄 The show is amazing! Can you ever respond to OG3NE, a Dutch group consisting of 3 sisters, the eldest Lisa and the twins Amy and Shelley. They all have great voices and the harmonies are amazing. During Covid they released many Home isolation videos, recorded with their phone, sometimes with only a pianist, or with a guitarist etc. They sang Bohemian Rapsody where they got a great response from Queen. but also Jolene to which Dolly Parton reacted very positively. They are great live too. They cover a lot, but also often have their own songs written by their father. They have also once participated in the Junior Eurovision Contest and the actual Eurovision Contest! Then also listen to Sing (by Ed Sheraan) where they Echo, or clown what they bring so sensitively, or Rise like a Phoenix where they really get out, or the various medleys. Or actually everything is so good. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wHHI9kqDhQA.html
One of their best. I like the Mexico City version better because Floor use a little more grit in her voice. But this version is not far behind. Next stop, Tampa. Nightwish - Sahara. Another banger
Definitely make sure Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth are on your “to do” list. Just do a little research beforehand as they both have deep meanings behind them. Keep on with these great reactions!! Love them!
Yeah, they are a complete package: great song writing, awesome vocals, excellent musical skills, brilliant visuals, great chemistry between band members (OK, there were issues in the past). Thanks for your reaction.
I bet you would love "The phantom of the opera" from the end of an era show. Marko and Tarja absolutely killing it in that one. Other great Tarja highlights are "Sleeping sun" and "Walking in the air".
Absolutely, The Greatest Show is the ultimate, but there are still a few more from Wacken, Wembley, and Buenos Aries lives that are still as impressive. Thank you for another great reaction.
They reference A Walden of Our Own. Check out My Walden from the same Wembley concert. Lots of Troy.. From the first era a good place to start, for my money, is Wishmaster with Tarja. One of the greatest is High Hopes, a tribute to Pink Floyd with Marco putting in a stunning performance. Unfortunately the 2021 December Wembley concert was rescheduled to November 2022 so although it was sold out, you may be able to get a ticket from people returning ones the couldn't use in 2022.
"If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work a day in your life" as the saying goes. That is very true with this band/family. You picked it up too. If you want to take a small side step from Floor era Nightwish, I would highly recommend The Phantom of The Opera live at Helsinki, Finland with Tarja and Marco on vocals. It's the best rendition of that musical. Period.
Nightwish music just puts a smile on your face and ours as well. They have as much fun performing their music as we do watching and hearing it. Are you familiar with Henry David Thoreau the American naturalist, essayist, poet, and philosopher. A leading transcendentalist, who is best known for his book , a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings. This song starts out with Floor explaining how good this song will make us feel. Ironically, this song is really all about encouraging us all to find our bliss and grab what life has to offer. Which leads to the ultimate poetic and metaphoric message in this song. Acceptance of the final stage of life with no regrets, death. We WERE here! You are my path, my home, my star A beautiful tale within the tale And when the dust needs to move on I will tuck us in on a bed of snow Painting white, silencing the valley we built Together we'll sleep devoured by life We were here Roaming on the endless prairie Writing an endless story Building a Walden of our own We were here Grieving the saddened faces Conquering the darkest places Time to rest now and to finish the show And become the music, one with alpenglow If you want to experience a NIghtwish music video, I would suggest "Amaranth". This was the 1st single from the 2007 record "Dark Passion Play". It will also allow you to check out the 2nd Nightwish singer, Annette Olzon from Sweden. Amaranth means "everlasting" or "unfading". "Amaranth" derives from Greek (), "unfading", with the Greek word for "flower" ()
For historical curiosity, you can listen to Nightwish's second singer, Anette Olzon, for example, with her version of Ever Dream: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIhDJJTiqUg.html Here she sings reasonably in key. And you get a clear sense of her style, which is enormously far from, on the one hand, Tarja's classic opera vibrato style and, on the other hand, Floors' more heavy rock and versatile singing technique. Some might argue that Anette Olzon's style might look more like a typical representative of the Eurovision Song Contest.
I think their professional live performance videos are the most enjoyable. When you want to see a music video, start with Noise, their most recent, with Floor. It’s pretty amazing. There are also good videos with both previous singers. When you start with them. Go with the original, Tarja first, maybe with Wishmaster, live or studio. Enjoy your Nightwish journey!
Hey, you should definitely check out Nightwish Endless forms most beautiful lyrical video with Floor Jansen, awesome thanks requesting 😎also Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red official music video featuring Marco Hietela, awesome 😎
Hey Taylor, first of all NIGHTWISH always live ;D - the videos are nice too, but there is always a better live version. If you really want to check out an official video - do "Noise" (there is no live version yet). But please react to EPICA, because I am sure you will be blown away for the 2nd time (if you gonna start with the right songs). Simone is next to Floor the 2nd female vocalist giving you goosies. Start with "Rivers" (official visualizer) or if you like it more heavy first, with "Skeleton Key" Omega Alive or "Unchain Utopia" Omega Alive. Trust me. Epica will be the 2nd deep rabbit hole you will fall into. Promised. And there are songs Epica feat. Floor like "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" or "Sancta Terra". Unbelievable.
Normally Nightwish live versions are always better than the music videos. But I understand that you still want to see them. I recommend the video of their song "Noise". This is relatively new and there are no official live versions, yet. (Except at the virtual show, but that is not officially available without paying). They put a lot of effort in this video that also functioned as a teaser for their Human:Nature album. So I think you should go for "Noise".
With Nightwish I think some door opened for me I didn't even know existed. Never liked any band as much as Nightwish. I know I will smile whole evening when I see them live pretty soon. Also some ugly crying... 😅 I think Elan is their best music video 👍 Also would recommend you to watch their documentary here in RU-vid called "Please learn the setlist in 48 h". It shows the time when Floor came to band and Anette left. There is also many documentaries from their summer camps when they have recorded new albums. All worth to watch 😉
Remember, no rush. But I can't wait for you to react to The Greatest Show On Earth (Tampere is my suggestion) and The Poet And The Pendulum 8Wembley) From Anette I recommend Scaretale (live) , Slow love slow, Amaranth as official music videos From Tarja, Phantom of the opera, Whismaster, Sleeping sun, Planet hell (live) and Gary Mores song Over the hills and far away (official music video) There are of course other songs with Tarja and Anette that's amazing but I think you want to hear most of them live with Floor
If you think you're ready for a 20min smile-fest...skip to the show closer at Wembley, The Greatest Show On Earth with an appearance by Richard Dawkins. Of course this whole concert is pure gold, you can always work up to it. *The Poet and the Pendulum is a 14min song with deep meaning. It is suggested that you check into the backstory and read "the letters". It's not required to enjoy the song, but it will mean so much more when you know the backstory. Older songs, see the End of an Era 2005 concert w first singer, Tarja. And original video for Amaranth with 2nd singer Anette.
Great reaction Taylor! I think you should start checking out the Nightwish Sister Band: EPICA (a Dutch symphonic/progressive/trash/black metal band) Their lead singer is Simone Simons: she is Dutch (like Floor) and they’re close friends. Simone was inspired by Floor in her long career (she joined EPICA at the age of 17). Please react to this video where Floor is on the stage with Simone: Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cx22Yuj2nzg.html Then, just to start this new journey, try this one “Epica - Design Your Universe (Retrospect)” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9nlPx-HEpCU.html Enjoy it!!!
If you want to do something epic, bring together people with epic in them. This bunch oozes epicness. I heard an epicness cleanup team is sent in after each show.
You will probably get a lot of The Greatest Show on Earth recommendations coming off this one, I hope you will choose the one from the Tampere concert rather than the Wembley one.
