As Dick Clark said...'The most underrated female vocalist I've ever met'. Donna Summer was in a word PHENOMENAL. And could sing pretty much anything. And was absolutely gorgeous as well. The complete package. And although labeled a Diva...Bette Midler got it right when she said 'I don't think Donna had a diva bone in her body'. A very humble, beautiful and talented lady. Miss her so. But her music lives on. Thank you for recognizing her gifts!
I agree, I remember when they I announced she had died, I was heartbroken 💔, but unlike when Whitney Houston died(I love Whitney and she deserved all of the fanfare) when Donna Sumner died it wasn’t much fanfare, and I couldn’t understand it. This was one of the most famous and hottest artists of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, and they didn’t have much to say about her.
You're so right! She gave the genre props. As I wrote, she got Grammy awards for rock, r&b, inspirational and dance. She even did country music. Thumbs up Herman Forstmann.
"I feel Love" was more of a Giorgio Moroder hit thanks to the synthetizer sound. I do not think Donna Summer enjoyed this song much as it put her in a box of the hypersexualized girl. This great singer had much more soul to give as she did in other songs including ballads and gospel influenced songs.
HEY!!! SHE WAS UNIQUE.HER VOICE.HAS THE PRIVILEGE.TO BE PLAYED IN EVERY DISCOTEQUE.IN THE WHOLE WORLD....SPECIALLY IN USA IN MEXICO....DONNA SUMMER...SIEMPRE TE AMARE.FOR EVER...I LOVE YOU.
I saw her in concert several times, she was amazing, and a very sweet person as well! Every disco always finished their night with her singing the last dance!

Donna Summer had one of the best female voices of all time. Donna was nominated for 18 Grammy Awards and won five. Impressively, these Grammys were awarded in four different genres: rock, dance, R&B, and inspirational. Please react to: donna summer i will go with you (con te partirò)
Donna Sommer was the most commercially successful female singer of the 1970s who eventually went on to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Can you please please PLEASE react to "Donna Sommer Last Dance at the David Foster and Friends concert. It was hee last mini concert before her death.
@@Bakin13 She was married to a man named Sommer [a German; she recorded, and got famous, there, first] and, then, changed it to Summer.] so, you are both, half right.
Donna Summer is INCREDiBLE! Need to check out her song called On the Radio. Since i was 8 yrs old... I have said for literally 40 years now...i am 48 now...that Stevie Nicks and Donna Summer are my two all time favorite female artists. Just amazing. Both of them.
The Queen Of Disco. A music that was the most inclusive and non judgemental in the history of pop music. She had a big voice, a big presence and a big heart. We miss you. RIP Queen Donna Diva. Try my favorites, "Love To Love You Baby" (which she did with all the studio lights out), "Last Dance", "Bad Girls" (my fave), and "She Works Hard For The Money".
I was just thinking the same thing i think..."disco" love it or hate it- everyone could dance to it and have fun, young and old lol. These old films of music before "videos" dont do them justice- There is so much auto- tuning and tweaking of voices nowadays-its hard to know who is a true singer.
@@s.l.s.l.1405 Also disco didn't care about your sexual orientation, your physical ability or disability, race, gender or religion. It didn't matter. Frankly, this was part of the anti-disco backlash. They never stated it out loud, but it was clearly the subtext. It was musical globalism.
@@s.l.s.l.1405 Yeah. But I lived through The Garage on 7th Ave, The Electric Circus, Larry Levan period here in NYC. Also among my 7000 records, 2000 of them are dance music from the 1970 and 80's. The Studio was where the rich and famous went. The Garage and The Circus was where the music started and where PEOPLE went.
Donna was big time trust me.. Her and the Bee Gees dominated disco era. Could it be Magic. I feel love. Love to Love You. Bad Girls. Hot Stuff. Last Dance. No more tears. All mega hits. We lost her to soon.
@@alrivers2297 Well, when it comes to worldwide fame I think that Boney M are considered to be the biggest disco act of them all. At least in Europe ,except Italy, where both Donna and Gibb brothers were bigger. But between 1977-1979 , no artists in the dance /disco genre , outside the US, where Boney Ms music was merely played at the clubs, could match Boney M in global sales. After all they still are the most successful black group of all time.
oh i love this reaction!!!!! Donna is so underrated but one of the best indeed!!! She could sing in any genre. (: her vocals sounded even better as she aged
A song written by Jimmy Webb. Harris' version reached #2 on Billboard's Top 100. Harris' version made me feel sad because a friend had justdivorced a woud stop anytime that song would play. Ms. Summer's version left me sad too, but, in a happier state because of the backing orchestra.
I have said it before … this woman could sing! She was sooo underrated…. Relegated to “disco diva” or 80s “pop girl” , this woman was flipping amazing!
Donna was the Queen Of Disco! Her voice was like gold and the songs pulled you onto the dance floor. Nobody could touch her vocals back then. Just a straight powerhouse! Everybody loved her & her songs...she was all over the place. A down to earth woman who everyone respected. She has so many more fabulous songs that you have to hear. She later found God and went into Gospel singing. We didn't her much from her after that. Plus, I think her father was a Preacher and he wasn't too happy with her choice of music. Donna's music was and still is the best Disco had to offer... ever! May she RIP! No one could ever replace her!
Who ever finally wins your heart will be one lucky person. You're a good heart - don't let anyone kill that sensitivity. I love watching your videos! Donna Summer was prime time for me - I was 16 years old. Lots of dancing to this song. 😊
I love Her !! I remember VH1 PRESENTS DONNA SUMMER LIVE and MORE ENCORE. They pulled her from a Diva's Concert to give her the spotlight alone. Now that's saying something ! Brava my dear !! I miss you like you'll never know.
Donna was one of my idols growing up in the 70's. Oh, the hours I spent singing into my hairbrush as my mic trying to sing just like her. A true legend.
Love Donna Summer! "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls," "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" duet with Barbra Streisand, "Dim All the Lights," "I Will Go With You (Con Te Partirò)."
I loved Donna Summer's and you should react to Donna Summer/ Barbra Streisand dute, it is so good. Posthumously inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, She was a remarkable Lady and I will miss her so much. Donna was the queen of Disco.
This track and another song of hers I feel love both have a euphoric quality to them. I think it comes down to a combination of Donna's incredible voice and the co-production of both tracks by Giorgio Moroder. They really were a winning team. I feel love in particular was way ahead of its time and well worth checking out. R.I.P Donna.
Donna did a Christmas album.Listen to her versions of' 'O Holy Night' and 'Oh Come all ye Faithful' I'm not religious but can listen to them over and over.
In my youth I loved to hate disco but the years have passed my heart has softened today I’m a fan of Donna, lovely voice, complex composition , the melting cake is a touching metaphor for a broken relationship . An excellent pop tune
I couldn't wait to see your reaction to that first time she held that long note!!!! she was awesome and ranked one of the greatest voices of all time!!! check out Enough is Enough duet with Barbara Striesand, Donna was the original Disco Queen
Bought this "Donna Summer Live and More" album when it first came out.She was magic.I'm about to turn 64 years old,and she never grows outdated. This is my favorite version of MacArthur Park!! Rest In Peace, dear lady.
Donna Summer was the queen of Disco, so beautiful with the voice of an angel..R.I.P Donna you were such an inspiration with everything you ever sang..Nobody couldn't ever sound as great as she had!!
Remember buying 'Live & More' as a 16 year old. There was a whole MacArthur Park Suite with other studio tracks, One of a Kind & Heaven knows. Magic to me ears & my eyes ( I had a massive crush on her) played the album constantly, even when disco went out off fashion. Glad you like this & think you should check out, 'Love to love you baby' & 'I feel love' which was revolutionary at the time & was the sound that became Techno.
Donna was a gifted singer, and one of the all time best. My friends and I were hard rockers that hated the 'Disco Era' at that time, and even we admired her.
I loved your reaction.. you really got it.. She was also there at the beginning of Electronic Disco due to her connection with Giorgio Moroder. Ms Summer spoke German / worked in Germany and she is the vocal on "I Feel Love"... She was HUGE.. it's so incredible when artists who are so well known for one generation are not known by others.. We're showing love, please do more of DS!!
I had not thought of Donna Summers in years, just beautiful, always an amazing performance, are there artists like her today, I 'm thinking............................?
Back in the 70's the popular phrase was "Disco Sucks" with Rock people. All my Rock friends hated Disco, but I like both Rock and Disco so I had to keep it a secret LOL. Most Disco singers back then didn't have the quality voice that Donna had. She was a true talent, not just another cheap, flashy Disco singer. And beautiful as well. I had a serious crush on her when I was like 12. She had many good songs. I use "Try Me" from her "A Love Trilogy" album to test my high-end audio gear and I love it. You should do "I Feel Love" -- Studio Version. Listen with headphones. Her voice is perfection -- and this is way, way before auto-tune.
