His songs remind me of the old music, like swing low and such. Where we just know where to lean and this fighting over money and race, is just wrong. Having to fight to live, not survive is not just a racial issue. Growing up in the south, we were poor but only in money. Family and friends are worth way more than any dollar bill. I truly think the Bible quote at the end is a direct stab at the music industry and why he turned down the $8 million. What struggling person would turn down $8 million, one that knows there is something much deeper than the money, than selling you soul to the man (in this case the music industry). There is zero doubt, if he were a signed artist, that none of what we have heard from him would have made it out there. His soul in this case is his lyrics, him connecting the masses.
