Wasn't that AMAZING?!?! The best part is that in the actual song, the chorus is completely auto-tuned and Kiiara can't sing it live. But then Mitch comes in and does it flawlessly, completely live and with zero auto-tune or help.
Not just autotuning, but also digital looping, if I remember right. That's how good Mitch is at vocal dexterity. He can do what takes Kiiara computers to accomplish.

I agree, Kyra! He rarely gets appreciation for his part in this song, without which it would be so much less. His masterful syncopated notes and the 2 bass drops he does are awesome.

I recommend “The Wizard of Aaahs” - it’s a collab with Todrick Hall, and tells the story of the Wizard of Oz with pop songs. It’s SO well done, and the video and production is so good! I do think you're ready for Aha live in Singapore. Avi (who blew the speakers with his low note) is amazing but Mitch is......well indescribable really. It's the ultimate Mitch slap! The official video of Aha is good but it's nothing like the live version. Mitch was apparently jet lagged and had had several red bulls to keep awake and the effect hit him just before they sang this song. It's INSANE! Everyone please upvote Aha live in Singapore!

How insanely in time with each other are Scott, Kirstin and Mitch during that ending? That is so difficult to do. While this is 1000% ear candy and I could listen to it on repeat for hours (and have done so!), my favorite part of the video is in the beginning - those couple of times when Scott slides his glance over to Mitch and that sly smile comes out because he knows what awesomeness is about to be on display. Everyone who reacts to this song is always so stunned when they take the third chorus and do the give and take between the trio. I always think, "Now, you didn't really think that PENTATONIX was going to do the same exact thing 3 times in a row, did you?" Throwing in the surprise is what they are all about in every SINGLE cover they do. They will never leave you complacent; predictability is not in their DNA. This is one of my favorite covers. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Love your reaction to Mitch's voice. PTX "Gold" is a great choice to listen to PTX's raw talent. I would like to see your Mitch reaction to "No" (Meghan Trainor Cover) or "Problem" (Ariana Grande Cover). Of course Mitch has one of the best voices. I love what Avi and Kevin do. Ever since the Sing Off. They nail the instrumentals so much, it often comes as an expectation, because, of course that's how the background music sounds....oh, it's people using their voices and bodies? It's almost incomprehensible.

Love your reactions, reminds me of my discovery journey with PTX. There are others I want to recommend to you, but for now I am joining the AHA! Star Vista Live Bandwagon. You really get to see the energy of a live performance. Avi is amazing in this as well. You will be tempted to think that Kevin is not in the performance but I have seen this live and he is off stage until it is time for him to come it, he just is not featured in this video. Someone once commented that, as a singer, it was wonderful to hear a group where he could just sit back and relax, trusting their skills, even in their live performances. Hello G.O.T. Luke. Finally...PTX Gold ......and this PTX performance is pure gold. "You put Mitch in front of a microphone and do you know what you make? Perfection." Spot on comment, Luke. Listen to Mitch's supreme vocals and what he is doing with his voice - vocal slides and inflections. The best part is how Mitch has his eyes closed, snapping his fingers, sitting on the couch - like he is out for a stroll in the park. Zero effort and 100% skill. You can fan-boy over Mitch as much as you want - no objection here! PTX are just superb - Kevin on the beat boxing and all those sounds, Avi on that bass, Scott with his pop sounds and riffs and Kirstie so sharp and sweet and together harmonies. Love your reaction, your facial expressions are priceless, looks like your mind is ticking over as you figure out what they are really capable of doing.
I have been listening to PTX 10 plus years AND STILL AMAZED!!! They never get tiring! I love Anchor too, Mitch's lead. His voice is so unique and beautiful as well as angelic and inspiring! I think they are not only musically genius, but each one is so over the top talented when they switch up, it gives a new flavor. And thy can upgrade ANY SONG! Just simply LOVE them!
There is a video out there of Kirsten, Mitch and Scott singing part of "Telephone" by Gaga in their High school choir. Even at such a young age, they were amazing!

This probably will seem like an odd recommendation, but along the lines of how PTX changes things up as a song progresses, what they did with "You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch" was stellar. Each verse they made changes that propel the song and make it unique from all of the hundreds of covers that have been done of this song. Listen carefully to all of the tempo changes, the dynamics, the stylistic variations on a theme that they do with this song. It's musically brilliant.
If you like this and want other “live” songs, you should check out their covers of megan trainor “No” and 21 pilots “Ride”. Bother are also pentastic and nothing beats hearing Mitchie on a mic live.

The thing I love so much about this performance is that you can see Scott, 2 or 3 times, glance over to Mitch with a look of pure adoration and love for his voice. After all these years they have so much love and respect for each other and I don't think it's for the cameras. That's so rare in this day and age. And I think its a big part of the reason they're so good. No egos, just respect. Love them. And last but not least, your reactions are awesome.
I just rewatched the original video from Pentatonix, and I realized how much work Scott is doing between doubling with Avi, doing some percussion, and then of course his involvement in the chorus. I feel like this is another song for Scott that requires all his concentration like Bohemian Rhapsody.
