The harmonies of Matt and Mitch absolutely kill me in this one. Soooo beautiful. Sidenote: Did you just call Scott Kevin?? 😂 Kevin is the beat boxer, when he sings he is a tenor and mostly uses falsetto/head voice. Scott is the tall blond baritone. 😄
Lol yeah, he's done it a couple times before, but then he created himself. I'm not sure he even notices. So, i'm sure he knows, his brain has just got stuck on the wrong name. For some reason, I guess Scott just looks like a Kevin to him?? 🤷🤣
👉👉Scott! Scott Scott!!! The blonde guy is SCOTT!!😆. Kevin is the beatboxer! Scott is the baritone with the extremely wide vocal range! He sings bass when Matt or Avi have a singing lead. Scott hits high falsettos and is extremely soulful and has great vibrato control. Kevin the beatboxer has a beautiful tenor sing voice and can hit almost whistle notes
I absolutely love this song. They completely blew the original out of the water with this hauntingly beautiful arrangement. Many thanks for this reaction, John.
One of my top favourites and believe me I have many of Pentatonix is Pentatonix with Lindsey Sterling with the cover of Imagine Dragons Radioactive! I don’t know if you’ve don a reaction to this one, if not I’d love to see it x
Love that they cover this and just the 5 part harmonies made it Perfect!!! Scotty has an amazing voice, sometimes underrated. Most newbies do not realize that when the Bass in PTX is singing, Scotty is doing the Bass Line, his range is incredible. This is a Master Class! Enjoying your reactions!! ❤
This was released during the summer of 2020 during the pandemic. Title and some of the lyrics were perfect for that time. Just a great haunting version. I believe this was shot and sung separately and mixed and put together.
This video was created long distance during COVID lock down. Other than each having to create their own home studios to record, they didn't miss a beat. Their @Home album is well worth a listen.
Now that you've explored a bit of PTX, I'd like to suggest trying Superfruit - it was a side project of just Mitch and Scott for a few years. They made their own duo albums and original songs as well as some great mash ups and silly things. Also, it's not strictly acapella, they have instrumental backgrounds. For something absolutely fun and showing Mitch's range, try Defying Gravity from Wicked, for a great production video try GUY.exe and for just a great cover of their blended voices try The Promise. There's LOTS to see. Oh, and when watching any of their medleys or fun ones be sure to watch past the end for bloopers; they're the best. :)
Subscribed as an avid Pentaholic-- thank you so much for your insightful reactions. Looking forward to your reactions on their covers of " Can you feel the love tonight ", " Radioactive ", " Come Along ", " Shallow" and " My Favorite Things ".
@@camillep3631agree! I've always loved Scott's voice. (Baritone voices are my crush.) However, his duet with Mario Jose is brilliant. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_vaI7pOjc0M.html&feature=share
I Love your reactions, but I think you just mistook Scott for Kevin. Kevin is the beat-boxer, a tenor and he is black, Scott is a baritone and he is tall and blond.
I love this video! You need to check out their medley called Wizard of Ahhs! Also you should check out their song A Little Space that they did with Ateez.
The only thing I don't like about this video is this - it's a slow song, so there is no need for beatboxing... so why didn't they give Kevin a solo? Otherwise, it's a gorgeous video!
I appreciate your take and comments on the videos... You analyze the whole thing....and a fresh look from a musician's viewpoint. Thanks.......you should look at Shallow, The Wizard of Ahhs, Be My Eyes, and even My Favorite Things, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Havana, Say Something.....to name a few.....thanks!
I had stuff to do today, ended up messing up my back, so I have not been able to get online today, but when I saw your name, and the song pop up on my phone, I had to log in to see your reaction. It was just as good as expected. Thanks for giving me a reason to move today.
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. It's one of my favorite Pentatonix videos. You are becoming my favorite Pentatonix reactor. I enjoy your reactions. Subscribed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR REACTION TO THIS. I loved it. My Favorite Things is hauntingly/steampunk flair done with a little more pizazz! They are just amazing!
Wow! I’ve heard instrumental versions of this played in the background of gymnastics videos that usually ended with an injury, but never knew the title. It gave me a creepy feeling until tonight, hearing Pentatonix do it. Great reaction, and I agree it is beautiful, even hauntingly so.
Here’s something I find funny about my appreciation of PTX: after every song I hear them doing (especially the first time), I’m left with the feeling that they placed each voice and tone perfectly in just the place where it had to be and that no other arrangement would have been as good. I know, of course, that they could have done it all differently and that would have been my perfect arrangement. What can I say, I’m a Pentaholic. I love this one and thanks for posting your reaction. Any chance we could hear your own performance. I’m sure I’d enjoy it too. Please share!
Pentatonix is amazing. I love all their voices and the vedio was awsome and different. John Reeves does a good job of comparing the differences in their voices. I like the way he analizes.
When I see this and watch Mitch's face and expression on the line, "look right through me," I can't help but wonder whether he's remembering being bullied for his high voice in high school.
With all the bulllying, struggles, finding himself and inner struggles he has been through, there is for sure some awareness and wisdom around feeling seen but invisible in those eyes
Ok two things. Number one if you want more of the best pentatonix that will for sure give you goose bumps and maybe even make you cry a little look up the prayer by pentatonix and amazing grace by pentatonix. The second thing I'm wondering is are you a pentaholic yet?
I miss seeing your Pentatonix reactions - there are so many songs you would enjoy - and they just dropped a new single - I Rise - that is outstanding. Anthem for our times. You're misssing out! Their cover of Kiara's Gold is incredible - sitting around a microphone, one take live recording with Mitch taking the lead - OMG it's so good.
They have an album of originals out. Called THE LUCKY ONES ( how they feel about them and being a part of this journey). Names listed are who wrote the particular song. 1) The Lucky Ones (Scott, Kevin, Mitch, Kirstie and Matt) 2) Happy Now (Scott, Kirstie, Mitch, Kevin, Matt and previously Avi) 3) Love Me When I Don't (Kirstie) 4) Coffee in Bed (Scott and Mitch) 5) Be My Eyes ( Kirstie) 6) A Little Space (Kirstie and Kevin) 7) Side (Mitch and Matt) 8) Bored (Scott, Mitch and Kevin) 9) Signs (Matt, Mitch and Kevin) 10) Never Gonna Cry Again (Mitch) 11) It's Different Now (Kirstie)
Scott often goes past vibrato to vocal fry. Vibrato is done with the vocal muscles, from the diaphragm on up . Vocal fry happens with the vocal cords when you are low in your range and your cords are really loose, like your voice sounds when you first wake up.
Ok so a month since a PTX review...hmmm...Luke just did the Pop Spring 2016 MTV video, 4 songs live including the mind blowing Evolution of Michael Jackson
This is the only other Queen song I could find. It's from a TV program. I hope you will react to it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P_sNvHXtOlY.html Also I thought you might enjoy the BTS for Rhapsody. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ni2rgks9Dd0.html
Please do Can't Hold Us. Havana. Sing. Aha, Singapore live, Shallow, Jolene, ( Grammy with Country singer Dolly Parton) Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy ( part of the Ballet Nutcracker), no lyrics since for orchestra and they used no instruments. Still won a Grammy. They also won a Grammy for Daft Punk. I love this song and your reaction
The one thing that gets me about all these different covers is they always slow the tempo to the point to where it sounds like a dirge, when the original tears for fears song was a more uplifting dancey song infact you watch the original video and the one band member is dancing lol!
Just binged all your Pentatonix reactions, and subbed. I really enjoy your analysis and appreciation of their other wordly talent. Please don't sleep on their last two albums -The Lucky Ones Deluxe and Holidays Around the World. And, don't be afraid to react to ones that only have a visualizer with no official video - some of those are some of the best tracks on the album. Try Never Gonna Cry Again, Anchor, Petals, Side. Note that you will find instruments on a couple of them, and we Pentaholic aren't mad about it!
I would LOVE for you to react to one of their original songs called “Sing”. All the people in the video are their fans. Very cool video and very upbeat and fun song‼️ Enjoying watching you discover PTX, the BEST in the land‼️
Well, I made it to the end of your Pentatonix list. GREAT JOB!! I enjoyed all of them. Thank you for a very enjoyable ride along your journey. I remember the first (Hallelujah) where you were so unsure of the group. What a fun ride and Thank you for letting me ride along.
You are something else, young one,you pegged it. He is alone, his beloved wife is gone, and there is nothing left but possessions! His kids said the song sounded like he was saying goodbye. He answered, “I am.” He passed not long after that. What a life he lived, what music he made! RIP to the man in black.
They're all so incredibly talented. And people can fight me, Mitch is better than Dimash! Fight me 😂 would probably rate them 1.Mitch 2. Scott 3.Kevin 4. Kirstie 5. Matt
