Studio versions and live versions of Pink Floyd are equally as important. Studio for the full Sonic and meaningful lyrics, and live for the amazing light shows and brilliant guitar work. Definitely need to do "Comfortably Numb" live to prove my case.
The entire Pulse concert is a masterpiece, every song is worth checking out. Stick with the 'Restored & Re-edited' version from the official Pink Floyd channel, it guarantees the best audio & video quality. Gilmour's solo concerts also also amazing.
I was at this concert at earls court in London and I was in tears for most of it. The pulse tour was a truly spiritual experience and you should definitely check out the rest of the concert, it will blow your mind mate. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
it's fantastic to know that the younger generation are now at an age where they can appreciate great music, musicianship and the spoken verse. Kudo's to you sir! Well done, the rabbit hole is deeper than you can imagine. PULSE tour/concert is a great foray into their music!
When it comes to live performances they are THE group!! I should know I've seen Pink Floyd 4 times in three different decades. Once in 74 for their Dark Side of the Moon tour In 1977 for the "In The Flesh tour" In 1987 for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour". & In 1994 for the Pulse concert you just watched!! I've seen about a hundred concerts from ACDC to Led Zeppelin and everyone in between alphabetically. Zeppelin was an absolute top-tier group so was AC DC in concert however Floyd is Just A step above everyone when it comes to live performances!!! They place speakers behind you on both sides of you and on the stage engulfing you in sound as though you're inside of a giant set of headphones! Then they pushed 233,000 watts of power through their light show and their speakers and only turn the speakers up about halfway for clarity and it's still powerful enough you can feel the music when they play!!! The venue you just watched seats over 19,000 people and they sold it out 15 nights in a row!! Anyway try "Comfortably Numb" which is the song immediately after this with the green laser lights you could see!! You'll probably have to pry your jaw off the floor with a spatula after that one?!! Any song from the Pulse concert is equal to almost any other groups finale! Really enjoyed your enthusiasm I think you will enjoy Pink Floyd!!!!
I'll add my voice to the others - the Pulse Concert was a legendary show. The band was at the top of their game, despite the departure of their bassist nearly ten years previous. But they were no spring chickens - the remaining members were all in their fifties, and may have wanted to go out with a bang. And Pulse was a helluva bang! It may not be common knowledge now, but in it's day Pink Floyd was known for it's *incredible* stage shows. That reputation was well-deserved. The Pulse Concert was actually the tour for Floyd's "The Division Bell" album. It turned out to be their last tour, absent the odd reunion one-off since then. The touring stage itself was massive, and at 130 feet tall and 180 feet wide, it physically dominated every venue they played in (including football stadiums). Two days to set it up and a third to break it all back down again, 55 trucks to haul it, and three of these stages hopscotching each other around the world. The stage's massive arch was encrusted with lights, and although it can be hard to tell from some of the videos, the lights were very tightly choreographed to the music. Between the lights, and the music, and the chill audience vibe, it was a truly magical, other-dimensional experience. I know - I saw this tour in Phoenix, at Sun Devil Stadium, with 70,000 of my closest friends. If you want a good example of the stage's abilities, please react to the Pulse version of "Sorrow". If you want to see the stage in full-throated roar, check out the pounding "Run Like Hell", with which they often ended their shows. But if you want the best of both worlds, you HAVE to check out the Pulse version of "Comfortably Numb". The studio version is great; the live Pulse version is better. It's been called one of the greatest live performances ever recorded, and it's got my vote. Check it out - you won't regret it. And thanks again for checking out the Floyd!
Live Pink Floyd. (I’m seconding some of these.) 1) Echoes, Live From Pompeii , 1972 2) Comfortably Numb, Pulse, 1994 3) Careful With That Axe, Eugene, Ummagumma (it’s just audio) from performance at Manchester College of Commerce, 1969 4) Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Delicate Sound of Thunder, 1988 5) Money, Live 8, 2005 (notable as reunion with bassist/lyricist/composer Roger Waters) 6) Interstellar Overdrive, Live in Stockholm, 1967 (notable as led by Syd Barrett, original lead vocals/guitarist/composer)
It depends on the songs. The studio versions are of course classic, there are some that they never quite replicated live (mostly Dark Side of The Moon songs, for me). But I prefer the this live version of Wish You Were Here over the studio. Same with Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, quite a few others. But it’s all worth your time
I actually just went to a “BRIT FLOYD” concert last weekend. A tribute band to Floyd. Man….cant even call it a concert bc its a full on experience of its own. Light and laser show synched to the music. They sound identical to Floyd and tour all over the world. Best $60 you will ever spend bro I promise you…Its different. More engaging than a normal concert. Felt like a “Unplugged” type feel. For real go see them you will understand why Im saying all this lol..
Do yourself a favour...... do Comfortably Numb from the same 1994 concert, then do the 1971 Echoes live in Pompeii and then either the whole Darkside Of The Moon album or Time / The Great Gig in The Sky as one song. For the Time and Great Gig double it is best to listen to the original vinyl or CD...... the remastered versions are edited , stripped of feeling and character etc and remove the final and brilliant vocals at the end. Time ends with The Great Gig, so best to do them together as one song, as PF intended. Then go out and buy the Pulse DVD....... maybe from 1994 but is so good it still sells for over $120 here in Australia and all serious music outlets keep it in stock. lol
I mean…it’s Floyd. That’s all you can really say. It’s kinda all that you need to say. It’s Fuckin’ Floyd man. Live. Studio. It’s all pretty top notch. It’s Floyd.
I wish I had gaming captured card so I can stream on youtube or twitch so I can react to different music like heatmakerz like your mom likes so I can have everybody react to to mine taste of music like classic rock music or r&b or hip hop music 😂❤
