Under Pressure ~ 1981 Ice Ice Baby ~ 1990 Ice lifted Deacy's bass riff, added a couple of notes and tried to pass it off as his own - it didn't work.

Thank you for coming back to Queen.- I tell you the way it usually works: The new reactors start out with Queen in order to grab as many subs as possible and then drop them like a hot rock. Some of us Queen fans might be a bit older models, but we are not ignorant to that fact. And after 20 Rap and Dimash reactions cancel our subscriptions. -- I have always enjoyed your calm personality and hang around. 😉Peace out ✌✌

Vanilla Ice got famous on the back of the monstrously huge 1990 single “Ice Ice Baby,” a song that was recorded when you could still get away with releasing rap songs with uncleared samples. “Ice Ice Baby” famously sampled David Bowie and Queen’s 1981 classic “Under Pressure.” Once upon a time, Ice famously attempted to explain that the two basslines were slightly different. He added an additional beat to his version (yeah, like that really made a difference.) Ice now admits that he was being “a jackass” when he made that claim. Yet he is still being a jackass because in an interview on Dan Patrick’s sports-talk radio show, Ice claims he got out of the “Under Pressure” lawsuit issue by just straight-up buying “Under Pressure” from Queen. As in: He didn’t pay them off. A spokesman for Queen, however, tells Ultimate Classic Rock that Vanilla Ice’s statement is inaccurate: “An arrangement was made whereby the publishing of the song (Ice, Ice Baby) was shared.” The settlement was that Ice had to pay both Queen and David Bowie (who co-wrote and recorded "Under Pressure") reportedly millions but if Ice had actually asked to use the riff, Queen and Davie would have been generous in asking a small amount because they remember how hard the music business is to break into. He just pissed them off by stealing it and then trying to deny it. In addition, Queen and David Bowie were given writing credits for Ice Ice Baby. I guess we’ll all just have to reckon with the fact that maybe Vanilla Ice doesn’t know what the f**k he’s talking about.

It's generally not beer, tea with honey and plain water, not very often will you see him drink beer, as far as the record is concerned John came up with the tune and Vanilla Ice tried passing the whole thing off as his own, if you listen to his record it's pretty much identical

I was at Wembley that night under the big spotlight ahead of Freddie in shots from behind, one of the best nights ever. Freddie loved that connection to the audience, so did we. Queen and David Bowie successfully sued VI for stealing the opening riff.

This guitar rift was created by Queen bassist John Deacon, and the song was developed by Queen and David Bowie and became an international hit years before Vanilla Ice used it without permission. He was sued, and settled for a large amount of cash and had to give credit to both Bowie and Queen.

Vanilla Ice lifted the opening riff from Queen and David Bowie who co wrote Under Pressure. V I subsequently lost the legal suit that was brought against him and he was required to give credit to Queen and D B as well as pay significant damages. He tried to argue that he had made a small change but it was almost imperceptible. Queen and David Bowie donated the damages paid by Vanilla Ice to charity.

When they were in Munich Queen and David Bowie decided to get together to make a record. John Deacon came up with the rift which he played all morning. Eventually they all went out for a pizza. When they came back apparently Deaky completely forgot the rift. Luckily Roger Taylor remembered it.

I know Queen did not push/present itself as a 'message' band...so maybe it was the convergence of talents with David Bowie that pushed all of them to reach new heights with this one. Not only musically (John's bass line heard round the world) but lyrically. This song will resonate forever about those forgotten, left behind, unable to cope, at a loss, living on the fringe. And LOVE is the lifeline. A song that bursts out with a passion.
