Queen at Live Aid was probably the best live rock performance ever and the whole world watched it together. Even just being a kid glued to the TV at the time, I feel privileged that I was able to see it as it happened.
Queen is one of the greatest bands in history. Freddy Mercury is one of the greatest singers & definitely the greatest frontman of all time. Many consider their song "Bohemian Rhapsody" the #1 song ever. 😉 How I envy you getting to hear it for the first time. You mentioned the guitarist. That's Dr. Brian May. He's an Astrophysicist. Brilliant, kind, and very talented. The drummer is Roger Taylor. Wait til you hear him sing while playing drums. The bass guitar player is John Deacon "Deak". He wrote some of the most famous, recognizable bass lines ever. You'll instantly recognize them. Next songs: "Another One Bites The Dust", "Under Pressure", "We Will Rock You", "Fat Bottom Girls", "Somebody To Love", and for sure "Bohemian Rhapsody".
You should really check out their entire Live Aid set.....widely counted amongst the greatest rock performances. By the way, your little one? Absolutely adorable 💗
Brian May (guitar) of Queen wrote the anthem "We will rock you" w/ a beat and crowd chant... so Freddie Mercury (vocals) was inspired to write 'We are the champions' to accompany May's song. It worked perfectly together and became a stadium anthem worldwide.
This is a very deep rabbit hall; most famous band along with the Beatles and Zep .......Freddie the most famous rock singer of all time.............you have no idea how talented these four musicians are............Brian May on guitar, Roger on drums and vocals, John on Bass........all great songwriters as well........who can also sing; if you want a real taste of them react to Montreal Live 1981.......SOMEBODY TO LOVE.............THEN LIVE AID 1985 .....AND WEMBLEY 1986 LIVE. You have NO idea how huge this band is.
This song, We are The Champions, and We will rock you was introduced to the US in a 1977 Tour. It was a quickly adopted anthem used by professional sports teams all over the country. Two of the Queen band still tours to this day, Brian May the guitarist and Roger Taylor, the drummer. Check out "Another One Bites the Dust", "Somebody to love" live in Montreal, & Bohemian Rhapsody.
Freddie Mercury is the composer of "We Are The Champions" and once called it “the most egotistical and arrogant song I’ve ever written” but also said that it was specifically written to encourage audience participation. Brian May has also said that both “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” were written intentionally for creating audience participation after a show with a particularly rowdy and enthusiastic audience. So they were calculating and brilliant in their intentions since the songs have become sports anthems played in stadiums worldwide over four decades later and continue to be the grand finale of Queen concerts.
Queen to do list: Bohemian rhapsody Official- headphones required Stone cold crazy -live at the rainbow You Take My Breath away live Hyde Park 1976 White Queen Live Hammersmith Killer Queen official video Don't Stop me now official video Somebody to love - Live Montreal Fat bottom Girls official video I want to break free official video Live Aid!!
All 4 members of Queen were college educated...Brian May the guitarist was voted best guitarist of all time in 2020...He is also an astrophysicist and has worked with NASA...and if that weren't enough he built that guitar with his dad when he was a teen, from wood around the house...they have 100s of songs and are so loved by their fans...all 4 are in the Writer's Hall of Fame....Freddie is a music god..They are considered the greatest LIVE band of all time. Songs to react to: SOMEONE TO LOVE, live in Montreal, KILLER QUEEN, WHITE QUEEN, live at the Hammersmith Odeon and for your partner, LOVE OF MY LIFE, live at Wembley. Also the live Aid concert, a fundraiser for the famine in Ethiopia,1985...they blew every other act that day out of the water (when Freddie does his super long note, the press called it the note that was heard around the world - millions of people watched the whole 16 hours of all the acts that day)
Queen wrote this song and We Will Rock You as anthems for the fans to give them songs to sing along with and interact with the band. Simple yet iconic songs where crowds could be included and be fans get pumped up. Recently Brian May (guitar) said that perhaps the best compliment about these two songs is that nobody knows who wrote them, that people just think the songs have always been here. True or not, neither of those songs are going away anytime soon. This particular performance is part of the Live Aid concert which is so outstanding that you will honestly feel like you are a part of the crowd. For several years, Queen included both We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You in all of their shows, along with Another One Bites The Dust which is also an anthem type of song that the crowd really joins in on. Thank you for reacting to this classic Queen song. Those shoes are Adidas Boxing Shoes so they are super flexible and comfortable.
Brian May is a Physics scientist, genius. As far as Freddie, No one has reached his level since. Although there are a lot of good vocalists from the 70’s, but Freddie got attention which is still appreciated today. Glad the younger generation is enjoying it. Spread the word. More to music than electronic sounds.
Transparent screen (hate them) on your sweet baby made for a hard watch but great for you to discover Queen -- hope you will watch their whole 21 minute set...and check out their other live iconic performances & videos. Yes, I vote for Another One Bites the Dust Live at Wembly 1986 and Somebody to Love at Montreal. You will gasp to see the wide arc of their music in the early1970s (In the Lap of the Gods Live & Stone Cold Crazy, both Live at the Rainbow) . And then of course their great video Don't Stop Me Now. Just a sampling...so much more.
Such an adorable baby!!! I echo what someone else on here also said - this song is traditionally played back to back after We Will Rock You (which they did in the full concert performance in the set this video came from). It's very weird hearing it by itself!
Good one guys. Again, nice Beatles T young lady. I have the same one except I bought mine 40 plus years ago and it's still like new. I have a lot old Beatles t shirts that are very sought after now. I bought them because I thought they were cool. I would wear them once or twice and then put them away. I started collecting Beatles records in 1972 the year I started highschool. I remember that there was a bulletin board in the commons area outside of the cafeteria and kids would post stuff like Wanted: tires for car or car stereo or speakers, stuff like that. I posted for original Beatles records from 1964-70. They had just split up in 70.I just always felt their records would be worth something one day. Needless too say, I cleaned up, a lot of kids had older siblings and brought on their records. Soon I was even cool with senior kids. When I was walking the halls kids would shout out "Hey Beatle man. I've been collecting now for 49 years and have an incredible collection. I actually saw The Beatles live in Pittsburgh in September, 1964 Beatlemania was absolutely insane and one of my fondest memories too have experienced it. 🎄🦌✌️☮️💕
"We Are the Champions" was built on audience response following a concert at Bingley Hall, Stafford in which the audience sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" to the band. It embodies numerous elements of arena rock, with Brian May stating, "We wanted to get the crowds waving and singing. We Are the Champions - Wikipedia
Live Aid was a charity performance for famine relief in Africa , mostly in Ethiopia at that time. This was the ultimate expression of this kind of performance. The guitar was played by Dr. Brian May, PhD in Astrophysics... Who says being a guitar player isn't rocket science?? At his level it clearly is!! :-)
Song released in 1977. Montreal won the 1978 NHL Stanley Cup 6 months later, and during the post-game celebration, their arena blasted that song over the loud speakers. From there, it became an iconic song in sports.
you so need to listen to their full live aid set. Even if you dont do a reaction (which i would love you to do) just listen to it, its amazing. wish i could have been there bur did get to watch on tv. love your reactions. Claire frm Glasgow, Scotland x
Your reactions are perfect. This was our high school swim team and cross country team song in the 70's! And your baby is very cute! I have a mixed race son too and there is nothing more awesome! We are all one and music brings us together even more. Bless you and your amazing family!
Poor Freddie, he had the worst flu that day, he was advised NOT to go on, he ignored that advice and gave one of best performances in the history of the world! That guitar is Brian Mays Red special
It still sounds weird to these ole ears hearing it this way alone. it is always preceded by We will Rock You/ We are the Champions. find the radio version to see what I mean. Enjoy
We will rock you and we are the champions were written fo inspire audience participation. I have not seen another band, better, at getting their crowds involved in a show.
What a cute little baby. Congrats to you. Just had to comment on the little drool factory. Lol. As a mother of 4 sons I always notice the little cuties.❤❤❤
If I remember correctly, Freddy was ill before and right up to this performance, possibly the early stages of AIDS but still performed as sick as he was.
