Ray has so many great songs most of them funny but he won a Grammy for everything is beautiful; a lovely song, funny ones like Ahab the Arab the streak and guitarzan
Ray Stevens "Everything is Beautiful", Sly and the Family Stone "Everyday People" and 3 Dog Night "Black & White" are the songs of my youth where we were slowly getting 😀 together😀 but today I don't KNOW!😢
Ray Stevens had a number of funny hits like this back in the 60's & 70's when I was in High School and College. The Streak, Ahab The Arab and Guitarzan were some that I remember but I think this may have been the biggest hit. By the way, a group I know you are familiar with, Home Free did a cover of this. It is hilarious as you might imagine, and worth checking out. I am a Home Fry and truly enjoy watching you react to them.
Ray Stevens is a country & pop singer-songwriter & comedian known for his novelty hits such as "Gitarzan", "Ahab The Arab", "Along Came Jones", "The Streak" and others. But he also did a few serious songs such as "Misty" & "Everything Is Beautiful" which he won a Grammy for in 1970. Please check out Home Free's version of this song "Mississippi Squirrel Revival". They do a great animated version that is very funny. Ray Stevens commented that he really liked it.
Ray Stevens has a lot of great songs and videos. “Santa Claus is Watching You”, “Sittin up with the dead”, “the streak”, “it’s me again Margaret”, “Surfin USSR” and a more serious one that he wrote, composed & sung is “Everything is Beautiful” the children heard in the chorus were from Oak Hill Elementary in Tennessee and had Ray Stevens two daughters in it.
Ray is still with us and performing at his club in Nashville. This is his last year before retirement though. All of his videos are really funny. He has a large body of work.
I just love this song ladies, Ray Stevens is still with us..one of my other favorites from him, is The Streak and one called The Day I Taught Charlene Mackenzie How To Drive
Yes, Ray Stevens is still around. Even shows up occassionally on reactions to his songs to respond in the comments. He is a great singer and is mostly known for his huge list of comedy music. Plenty of other comedy songs like this like "Guitarzan", "Harry the Hairy Ape", "Ahab the Arab" and one of my personal favorites...."The Streak". Though he also has some very good non humor songs as well like "Everything is Beautiful" being one of my personal favorites
Ray Stevens is also an excellent pianist. There's a video out there with him, Boots Randolph on saxophone, and Chet Atkins on guitar, performing "Yakety Sax".
My dad owned a mechanic shop in rock springs wyoming my entire childhood and would listen to Ray Steven's all the time when we worked on cars together ❤️ he had all his albums
Some other good ones would be “Sitting Up With The Dead”, “I’m My Own Grampa (make sure you get the official video for the chart)and “The Day I Tried To Teach Charlene MacKenzie How to Drive”. But really you can’t go wrong with any of his songs.
Think you gals need to do more Ray Stevens. LOL Saw Ray in Branson, MO about the time this came song came out and bought the video tape of his greatest hits up to then including "The Streak", "It's Me Again Margaret", "Everything is Beautiful", and others.
We loved Ray Stevens in the 70s he came out towards the later 70s early 80s. Seemed every so often he would come out with these funny songs. Hilarious. They would play them on the radio!
Lulu, I believe those pants-skirts are called Gaucho skirts. They were popular in the 1970's but I think they're still available today. Back in the 70's they came in different lengths. Probably still do as far as I know.
I love Ray Stevens I think I have all but a couple of his albums. His last couple have been more political protest than comedy but he will forever be one of my favorites.
Guitarzan, Along Came Jones, Shriner's Convention, It's Me Again Margaret, The Streak, Eric the Awful, Sitting Up With the Dead, Everything is Beautiful, Surfin the USSR, Ahab the Arab, Santa Clause is Watching You, and Taylor Swift is Stalking Me.
Yeah, actually, Ray did a number of straight songs like Misty, Everything Is Beautiful and Mr. Businessman, which did pretty well in the charts, but it actually wasn't until he released his first comedy/novelty song, The Streak, that his career really skyrocketed and made him a household name at the time ... and I LIKE IT !!! Besides the straight songs mentioned above, some of his great comedy songs would include again, The Streak, Guitarzan (one of the funniest and my favorites), Along Came Jones (my 2nd most favorite song from him), Shriner's Convention, Santa Claus is Watching You and, of course, Ahab The Arab.
He has I place outside of Nashville. Couple years ago a took my father and stepmother to his place when we went for vacation. I have a picture with My brother, father, Ray Stevens and me on my wall. He hangs out with people in his bar after the show.
I could recommend so many of his hilarious songs but if you want to hear him sing please listen to "Everything is beautiful. It is a more serious song but absolutely great. Funny songs could be Sitting up wth the dead or if you want pure confusion I am my own hrandpa
I was wondering when you would get to Ray Stevens. The 2 I know by him are... I Am My Own Grandpa ... & ...The Streak ... Which is about a real college fad in the 70's. 2 guys and a girl did it at my high school.
Sitting up with the dead Gitarzan Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated, Quick Dissolving, Fast Acting, Pleasant Tasting, Green and Purple Pills Its Me Again Margaret Eric The Awful The Ballad of The Blue Cyclone The Shriners Convention Yeah, your reaction found its way on to the for you page of a hardcore fan. 😂
🤣🤣 Keep up the good work. In this comedy vein, check out JIM STAFFORD. He has few, but the one that gets most people is "THE WILDWOOD FLOWER". ENJOY 🤯 😎🇺🇲🇺🇦💙. ('24)-7 🎉
