About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. Welcome to NW Wayne&Kayla, you just met our 6ft Queen Floor Jansen (Dutch), 3rd and current frontwoman of the Finnish Symphonic Metalband NW. She is incredible. 10 Months earlier she came as a substitute for Anette Olzon, who became sick in the middle of a world tour and had to go to the hospital. NW called Floor and she said yes. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (there is a documentary about that) and did that on the flight from the Netherlands to Salt Lake City, where she joined the band on their way to Seattle for the next concert. GLS wasn't even on the list, but because she loved this song so much, NW put it on the list. The last part of the song the previous singer(s) didn't do, so she made it her own, with as result 10 months later at Wacken 2013 this MASTERPIECE. When she belt so high, you get shivers or goosebumps we call that a FLOORGASM. Congrats with your first one. I feel it is important for you to know, that this band had three different female lead singers, here you watched and hearedFloor Jansen, the third and recent singer. Before her were Tarja Turunen (1996-2005) and Anette Olzon ((2006-2012). You are free to explore any of them, but be aware of that. We had reactors reacting to e.g. Tarja for the second video and naming her "Floor". You dont want that to happen, because each singer has her sometimes too fanatic fans..... All three are part of Nightwish and adorable.

You have now heard some of the skills our 1.83m Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen has to offer. As I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands, here is some background information on her. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of that. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also spent some time at the Conservatory to learn some more classical singing. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour ('Please learn the setlist in 48 hours'). The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is very challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating is this iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival which set new standards in Open Air concerts. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band as the relationship between Nightwish and Annette was strained even before she got ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp'for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on RU-vid. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa', and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered RU-vid in the last year and a half and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing this song at Wacken. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. Floorgasm alert! Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Yes Floor has muscles!! In her 20s she was a competitive bodybuilder in Europe. She is 6'1" and from the looks of her she weighs close to 200lbs. She is married to the drummer of the thrash metal Swedish band Sabaton. He himself is 6'7". They have a five year old daughter named Freja. I can't imagine how tall she will be!

Haha, She does look like a woman warrior" which in the context of the band (Nightwish, a Finnish Viking symphonic metal band) her role, at over 6' and a massive instrument, is to play the Shield Maiden for the band. Her mastery over that instrument places her at the top of the table for female singers in the 21st Century. IMHO.

She sings a beautiful duet with another Dutch singer (Simone of Epica): Sancta Terra, highly recommended and cheers from tha Low Countries !
