@@barsandbarbells2022 Yeah, makes sense. What you hear on the news is "wildfire" most of the time, and you mostly hear about the ones in highly populated areas. But out in the rural areas, where there's grass that's dried up from drought conditions, if a spark (lightning, for instance) gets in there, and there's some wind, acres upon hundreds, or even thousands, of acres can burn like crazy. You do good figuring stuff out, though. You make a good show!! Thanks!!

Rodney is an old-school vaudeville-type comic. He does one-liners better than almost anyone. Rodney is one of the most prepared comics ever. Every joke was on a notecard and he had huge files full of notecards. He would gather and organize the cards for each show. He never did anything that wasn't thoroughly rehearsed. His standard schtick is "I get no respect" and he often builds from that.

Rodney, the king of one liners and Johnny Carson, The King Of Late Night TV. Carson was that one must watch Tonight Show host between 1963 and 1993. I watched almost every night between 1972-76 during my highschool years. Great show to hop in bed for and doze off to. I was a regular until he retired in 1993 after 30 years. Carson was a legend ! Peace ❤

"There Goes The Neighborhood" is on his grave stone! He owned his own club in New York and gave many young comedians their start and was also in many movies. "No respect" was his catchphrase and entire comedic act, but it was just an act!

Johnny Carson Was the absolute king of late night television. Pretty much the entire country went to bed watching the Tonight show starring Johnny Carson. for something like 30 years from the 60s to the 90s he was incredibly beloved and I think the vibe you caught onto was just an example of how masterful he was at putting people at ease. Pretty much every one of the most famous comedians many of whom I’m sure you recognize had their big break on the Carson show. In fact, it’s known among comedians from that era that if you got asked to be on the Carson show that’s when you know that you’ve made it.

Actually, getting on the show didn't necessarily mean you made it. Getting the invite to the chair to talk after your set was done meant you made it. I've seen interviews of comedians who had decided to retire if they didn't get that Invite because it meant they had gone as far as they could go in the business.

Johnny Carson, a very successful comedian himself, was always the perfect 'straightman' for Rodney. Some of the funniest parts are when Johnny's set-up didn't work or Rodney's reaction when a joke fell flat. Rodney also owned a comedy club in NY, "Dangerfield's". There are/were many comedians that said they owed Rodney everything for giving them their 'big break'.

Dangerfield's time on the chair is an extension of his stand-up routine. Johnny Carson was in on it. Dangerfield was at the apex of his popularity by this time. Was a regular guest on The Tonight Show. People loved him. Very self-deprecating guy, as you saw in his routine. The reason the crowd roared when he would say "I get no respect" is because this was his signature line. It was used in all of his acts. Please consider doing more comedy reactions. They are a blast to watch. Especially on y'all's channel.

Rodney said he was so old his last birthday cake looked like a prairie fire. That refers to the fact that there were so many candles that were lit as usually you use the number of candles that matches the age! One thing you don't understand because of how long ago it was is that he came from the clubs and theaters before TV, and that circuit was called vaudiville. He would have come up toward the end of it, but the comedy pace was quick. He also had a club in New York called Dangerfield's, in which he used to warm up the crowd and otherwise tell plenty of jokes. That's what he means when he says he's going back to NY and will be at the club, then he's going up to New England. In other words, he knows a lot of bang bang jokes and mostly tells his latest ones. That was his style. I guarantee he may have had an idea or two, but he really never knew exactly what he was going to say on Carson. Whatch any of his other appearances, he just bangs them out. Once in a while, if you know his stuff, he will repeat one a few years later. I'm just saying his appearances were not so much rehersed bits, but a little of that and flow of thought.

The joke was, "Are you kidding? I know I'm getting old. My last birthday cake looked like a prairie fire." The inside joke between these two was that Johnny knew that Rodney, even after sitting down next to Johnny in seemingly "casual" conversation, still needed to stick to a certain sequence of jokes to keep things in order, while Johnny would occasionally tease Rodney by asking him a question in the wrong order, but knowing at the same time that no one could throw Rodney off his pattern or game plan.
