I love the song "Sugar Walls" but I hope no one requests that song for a reaction. This is a family oriented channel and that song is definitely not family oriented. lol
I worked for Prince forever. You'd ***T yourself if you knew ALL the ones that people don't know about!!!!! He wrote everything for everyone!!!!! I miss him.
If you really wanna hear Sheena Easton you should play the theme song from a James bond movie, "For your eyes only." Amber will absolutely love it and I'm sure Jordan will like it also, but It's totally an Amber song.
@@dennisloveland498 Absolutely, and glad you brought that up. I remember the significance of that at the time. Great entertainer, and I saw her live in that time period, somewhere back in the 80s.
They definitely reacted to the Bob Seger version. Not sure if they did Kenny's duet too (it's not up), but if they did it might have been the time he did it with Dolly. I don't think they've seen or heard Sheena before now.
She did a James Bond movie theme song called "For Your Eyes Only" (for the movie of the same name) which was a big hit. This video says "MTV doesn't play this kind of music and this girl is brand new so we're not spending any money on this video".
Way to be a beacon of cheer. If you don't think a song is your cup of tea you don't have tto kill it for folks who can for the past year and a half make their own minds up.
This was released before MTV came about. This was only her second song and the 1st bombed, it was only because of a TV show she was on that they bothered releasing this and she was reconsidering whether to keep singing, so this was EMI not wanting to throw a bigger budget at someone they weren't sure would make it.
Glad to see Sheena Easton s music is finally getting some recognition. She was among the top performers in the early 80's and possibly the most under reacted to performer out there.
You should definitely listen to her sing Almost Over You. Her beautiful voice can break your heart! She also did For Your Eyes Only,, which was one of the James Bond theme songs. They kind of consider her a Bond girl even though she isn't actually in the movie but her intro where she sings the song was such a gigantic hit. That's one you should watch the actual movie Video.
No - Easton is Not considered a Bond girl. You have to actually be in a James Bond movie to be a Bond girl. Adele has sung a James Bond song; that doesn't make her a Bond girl and she doesn't consider herself one either.
40 years later and this song still resonates with me.. Almost over you :( this is right up there with "A different corner" by George Michael, both songs totally pull your heart strings
I'm beyond excited that you've finally found Sheena. Amber - Strut is an awesome girl power vocal. Telephone and For Your Eyes Only are amazing as well :). I want to request Karyn White again. Secret Rendezvous (hot hot HOT) - and Superwoman (fantastic POWER ballad. Amazing build and climax at the end). Hugs from Canada :)
I love Sheena! A definite must-do for her is her 80's song, "Strut." The tune and video is fire! Another is a duet with Prince called "U Got The Look."
Sheena is a sweetie, has a great voice when she sings (she has a distinct Scottish brogue when she speaks), and had a series of memorable songs. Great pick, haven't heard this song in years, but it's got a great hook in that chorus! Great job once again! 👍🏼
More high school flashbacks for me. I love her voice too. I love all her songs. Notable hits were Telefone, For Your Eyes Only, Strut, U Got the Look, and anything else others mentioned. You just can’t go wrong. She also made an old album of old Big Band style classics called No Strings. My favourite from that was Body and Soul. Love Female Fridays. For another 80s singer you may not have heard, check out the Headpins Don’t it Make Ya Feel. Darby Mills belts out the tune like no other. Or, if you want to hear something a little edgier than that, try Rough Trade’s High School Confidential. Cheers.
Sheena Easton is a huge talent. You might also want to check out: "Sugar Walls," "Telefone" and a duet with Prince entitled "U Got the Look". Pure pop perfection!
"You Should Have Been With Me" is such a beautiful underrated gem from her. This song showed a more mature side to her and it's my favorite Sheena Easton song. This song only hit number 15 on the Billboard charts in February 1982 (ridiculous) but is one of her most memorable songs and really showcases her incredible voice. I hope you guys react to this wonderful song. You mentioned Dolly Parton's "Nine To Five" so now you've got to react to it. Dolly is a force of nature
My favourite song of hers, I bought the album purely for this song, displays her voice beautifully. Her duet with Prince on U Got The Look is a much raunchier Sheena 👍
Sweet Little Sheena. She morphed into something else after her association with Prince. Check out “The Lover in Me.” The song is laid out in one of the sexiest videos of the 1980’s. Whew!!!
The song was titled "Morning Train (Nine to Five)" to avoid confusion with Dolly Parton's hit "9 to 5" which hit #1 a couple of months earlier that year in 1981.
@@knoahbody69Very true, but in the UK the Sheena Easton song was released about 6 months or so before the Dolly Parton song and film. The USA , may have been different
For some reason Sheena Easton is sorta forgotten nowadays when people think of great 80s singers. Fact is her voice is outstanding and songs like Strut are catchy while ballads like "Almost Over You" show her vocal chops. Her duet with Kenny Rogers "We've got Tonight" is also stellar.
You guys are fantastic, how you enjoy the music, and dance in your seats, that's so infectious. Other reactors sit and nod, but your enthusiasm delineates how you feel the music.
Ray Ray here! this brother have an ear for gooood music! I have professional singers in my family that traveled the world singing back up, back in the day, with Pink Floyd!. Sheena Easton 9 to 5 "Morning Train" that's my girl Yo! men around the world would love to have a woman like Sheena E. displaying that type of true love for him in that beautiful song! That's one of my greatest Jam/song for all times! The years have gone by! "43 years" since "Sheena sang that hit song back in 1980! Morning Train" will always be her signature song! & I still feel that love in that song just searching for that lovely woman who can me it come true for me.
She actually had a number of big hits in many different genres, pop, country, r&b, dance/disco, this was her first hit in 1980 when she was so young, it was such an innocent song, then a few years later she hooked up with Prince lol
Sheena is sooo under rated! "You could have been with me" is ONE of her greatest vocal masterpieces. This tiny gal from Scotland really packed a vocal punch.
Amber & Jordan, Sheena Easton is a Scottish 🏴 singer 👩🎤 and actress. Easton came into the public eye 👁 in an episode of the first British 🇬🇧 musical 🎶 reality television 📺 programmed The Big Time: Pop Singer 👩🎤 , which recorded her attempts to gain a record contract and her eventual signing with EMI Records. She became one of the most successful British 🇬🇧 female performers of the 1️⃣9️⃣8️⃣0️⃣’s. Here R some songs or music 🎶 video's of Sheena Easton that U both have to react. 1)Modern Girl 👧 ; 2)For Your Eyes 👀 Only; 3)You Could Have Been With Me; 4)We've Got Tonight featuring Kenny Rogers (Live); 5)Telefone ☎️ (Long Distance Love Affair); 6)Almost Over You; 7)Me Gustas Tal Como Eres (Spanish Song featuring Luis Miguel); 8)Strut; 9)Sugar Walls; 10)It's Christmas 🎄(All Over the World 🌍 ); 11)Eternity; 12)U Got The Look 👀 featuring Prince 👑 & Sheila E; 13)The Arms Of Orion featuring Prince 👑 ; 14)Follow My Rainbow 🌈 ; 15)The Lover ❤️ In Me; 16)Days Like This; 17)What If We Fall In Love 😍 featuring Eugene Wilde; 18)I Will Always Be With You; 19)Can't Take My Eyes 👀 Off You; 20)So Far So Good. These are all great hits from Sheena Easton. Checked them out. You guys will not be disappointed.
@@sundayze Omg, I love love love that one! She has some beautiful gems like: "For Your Eyes Only", " I'm Almost Over You", " I Wouldn't Beg For Water", the list goes on and on! She is a true female vocalist that imo, can comfortably take her place up there with the best! 🥰
Did my morning workout with this song 40 years ago. She did a duet with Kenny Roger's we've got tonight. Ohhhh a good song. In watching their duet they're was also a song by Kenny you are so beautiful when he showed his son Christopher being born as he sung the song.
YAY!!!! You FINALLY listened to Sheena after me begging for so long!! Other great songs by her: "Almost Over You", "Modern Girl", "Strut", "For Your Eyes Only", "When He Shines", "No Deposit, No Return", "The Lover In Me", "Telephone (Long Distance Love Affair", "You Could Have Been With Me", two songs written and produced by Prince: "Sugar Walls" and "101", plus her duet with Prince: "U Got The Look." She also has a duet with Kenny Rogers: "We've Got Tonight."
As other commentors have mentioned Sheena Easton is in the elite group of James Bond singers. But she stands apart from the other theme song artists, as, she is the only singer to appear in the title credits while singing the song. The film creators decided she was sexy enough that they offered her this unique opportunity. So, I believe this qualifies Sheena Easton as a Bond Girl.
I love Sheena. Listen to her James Bond theme song "For Your Eyes Only" from the movie of the same title. She did a great job singing with Prince on the song "U Got the Look." Of course her controversial song, "Sugar Walls." She won a Grammy for Best New Artist. She even has songs in Spanish.
You guys FINALLY got to SHEENA!! She was awesome in the 80s! You HAVE to check out her Almost over you!! And sugar Walls, to get the full affect of what she can do.
Sheena Easton, from Scotland, was a pure pop vocalist with a tremendous range and of course, gorgeous looks! she was constantly on the pop music charts pretty much throughout the 1980s. Check out her (original) vocal performance of "Wind Beneath My Wings" from her 1982 album "Madness, Money & Music". Bette Midler had a hit with that song in 1988 but she didn't possess anywhere near the vocal prowess of Sheena Easton. Give that one a listen and reaction - I think you both will love that song and her rendition!
She became a really big star in the UK and went over the USA where Prince boosted her fame. She also sang the theme tune for ‘For Your Eyes Only’, James Bond theme!
I would love to see you guys watch and react to the movie " 9 To 5" starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin & Dabney Coleman. My sister & I were both absolutely obsessed with watching it when we were kids, but aside from it being hilarious it could've also had a little something to do with the both of us as little girls being fascinated by Dolly & her incredible acting skills! Lol... Honestly, the whole cast and movie was/still is GREAT! I think U both would really like the movie tho. Hope to see it one day on your movie reaction channel! Also Sheena Easton & Kenny Rogers did a duet to Bob Seger's "We've Got Tonight", Dolly & Kenny has a LIVE recorded duet to the song as well. 😊
She was pretty much the very first pop idol! A BBC programme called The Big Time, which was a documentary about her trying to get a recording contract!
Another Sheena Easton song to listen to is For Eyes Only, she did for the James Bond movie same title name. It was the song that really launched her career.
One of my favorite female artists from the 80s. "For your eyes only" from the James Bond movie of the same name. "Sugar Walls" and "Strut" both written for her by Prince. She had a string of hits.
This was Sheena Easton's only US # 1 hit to date. It topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for two weeks beginning May 2nd 1981. Easton also won a Best New Artist Grammy award. She was a popular Scottish singer especially in the early to mid 1980s and did even better in the US than in her native UK. I highly recommend you check out For Your Eyes Only by her. It's the theme song to the 1981 James Bond film starring Sir Roger Moore.
Today is one of those rare *bonus* FOUR videos for "Female Friday"! Great song! *FUN FACT:* Sheena Easton had to change the title of her song, because Dolly just had a #1 hit with "9 To 5," and they didn't want to confuse the public. The official title is "Morning Train (Nine To Five)." This song also hit #1. More Sheena Easton songs that are a MUST: For Your Eyes Only, Strut, Almost Over You...... and the duet with Kenny Rogers called "We've Got Tonight." Yes, that's the same song that Bob Segar did, which was also in the 80's.
@@vkaPAUL No, Sheena was an unknown at the time and Dolly was starring in the movie. Besides, this song is pretty much the opposite of Dolly's - the wife waiting at home for her breadwinner hubby to return from work? That really wouldn't fit in!
Sheena Easton will have a way different sound and image going towards the end of the 80s and into the 90s with “The Lover In Me” and ”What Comes Naturally”.
This was Sheena Easton’s (Scottish) first big hit in the U.S. she went on to have big hits with Prince, “You’ve Got The Look”, and Kenny Rogers, “We’ve Got Tonight”! She also had a big hit with the James Bond theme, “For Your Eyes Only”! She has a very different sound with her hits “Strut” and “Sugar Walls”! Check out all of these hits! Her voice is amazing!❤️❤️
I was a kid (~10yo) when I got her cassette tape of A Private Heaven. Loved that so much that I would play it constantly. I was innocent enough to not know what Sugar Walls was all about until I was older. She had an angelic voice and sound that made me crush on her ... ah, youth. Anyways, I highly recommend almost all of her hits!
I've been a big fan of hers since that first album in 1981. Sweet lady, wonderful voice, and beautiful too! Dozens of songs I could recommend listening to including album cuts most people have never heard before...
So glad you’ve finally discovered Sheena Easton. One of the most underrated and overlooked singers of the 80’s. I’ve never understood why. She’s got one of the best voices and can sing catchy pop songs, slamming R&B/dance songs, as well as big note ballads. To this day, she’s the only artist ever to have top 5 hits on the 5 different genre charts: Pop, dance, country, R&B, and adult contemporary. Please react to more of her stuff. Strut is my favorite song of hers. She also partnered with Prince on some big hits (Sugar Walls, U Got the Look and 101). Some big ballads are Almost Over You and For Your Eyes Only. She also sang Wind Beneath My Wings years before Bette Midler did. She’s got a deep catalogue for you to check out. Enjoy.
You picked the perfect song to start your journey with Sheena. She had a long career and was able to reinvent herself a few times, from adult vocal pop and ballad master to electronic pop princess, to sultry and funky R&B Mistress, to Jazzy pop standards and full on dance queen. She made moms heads explode when she teamed with Prince for some sexy tunes and even found time to do some television acting, like in Miami Vice or Highlander. If not for record company troubles in the 90s she may have gone on to living legend status. When she started to have children she chose to leave the limelight to raise her kids, doing only a few shows a year. Keep on with the SHEENA TRAIN. You will not be disappointed.
Next time for your Friday female shot, give Kim Carnes "More Love" a listen... originally done by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. Her voice is unique and lends the female aspect to this awesome song. NOTE: Let's not forget she also did a James Bond opening credit song..."For Your Eyes Only".... that being Sheena Easton.
Fun story: Smokey Robinson wrote "Being with You" for Kim Carnes after she did "More Love." He said he had no intention of recording it himself. When he presented the song to her producer, he created a demo and asked Smokey to sing on it, claiming it was to give Kim an idea of how it should sound. He did, and the producer then played it back for Smokey, and said, "now doesn't this sound great with *you* singing it?" Smokey thought so too.
She hits the high notes for sure. I loved her as a kid. I remember buying and wearing the grooves out of my Strut 45, not really appropriate for an 11-year old but neither were the Grease songs that I also sang along to. Her song, Almost Over You, and duet with Kenny Rogers are both beautiful.
YAY....My other favorite singer that I had a crush on as a teen. First was Olivia Newton John and then there was Sheena Eason. Olivia was my Aussie babe...and Sheena was my Scottish babe. You will really love some of her other songs, especially her duets with Kenny Rogers and Prince.
Well she's also a Bond lady "For Your Eye Only" has a smash duet with Kenny Rogers "We've Got Tonight", other hits include "Almost Over You", "You Could Have Been With Me", "Strut", "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)", "Modern Girl", and "When He Shines"!
Glad you're finally checking out Sheena. She's a great vocalist, her stuff is almost forgotten about nowadays (especially in her native Scotland) which is a shame as she's very talented. Met her in London a few years ago (where she was appearing in the Musical 42nd Street, which actually featured a chorus line of dancers!), she was lovely to chat to; a very funny lady. Her vocal range is still incredible. She had some powerfully sung ballads like "almost over you" "I wouldn't beg for water" (check out the live version on RU-vid, her vocals are stunning) "for your eyes only" "follow my rainbow" "we've got tonight" with Kenny Rodgers. She worked with Prince on a number of tracks (101, Sugar Walls, Arms of Orion, U got the Look) all are great songs. Other pop hits from Sheena include: Strut, The Lover in Me, Days like this, Do you, What comes naturally, Telephone, Giving up Giving in, Devil in a fast car..... She's got a great catalogue of songs. Glad you enjoyed her so far, look forward to the next track already....
I recall listening to this as my Daddy would drive me to high school. Cute song!! I've never seen the video. Sheena's got vocals!! Not sure if they're really showcased the best here.
If you really want to experience Sheena Easton's vocals, react to "101"--prince wrote the song for her and she absolutely nails the vocals. Impressive as hell.
Sheena Easton is amazing. She is an actress as well as a singer. My favorite song is "For Your Eyes Only", which has music by Bill Conti ( composer of the 'Rocky' theme "Gonna Fly Now"), the title song to the James Bond film of the same name. Sheena has, so far, been the only artist to appear in the opening credits of a James Bond movie singing the theme song over the opening credit sequence. The song was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Song.
That was her very first mainstream hit, BUT she had bigger hits later in the 80s like the Oscar nominated "For Your Eyes Only", the very catchy "Strut", the sexy controversial "Sugar Walls", "The Lover in Me" and even scored some hits in Spanish like her duet with Mexican crooner Luis Miguel "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres"!
