The AMAZING thing is that he was able to pull it off live, exactly as he sounded in the studio version without missing a beat, crazy high notes and everything.
yes you right an i wish i can back in time to see al this metal bands i have the music an i seen some metal bands live but now some are old an don't make music no longer or it is not with the original members. it was a little late that was stating with hard rock metal an i feel so bad therefore that i wish i can back in time love many metal band an i hope no i wish that i can ever seen one i always like to see but always all tickets sold out an that's AC/dc but when the come it is always to far away more like america or uk an so one an that's is to far for me. never to old to rock 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Can't ignore John Fowler's drumming. His drumming on every track of Steelheart's debut album was amazing, esp I'll Never Let You Go. He passed away in 2008.
John Fowler, and guitarist Frank DiCostanzo, were both in the band Rage of Angles just before joining Steelheart. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-osrIVSp4CWg.html
It was so punchy and powerful but it fit the music beautifully. As a musician, one of my favorite drum sounds that I have tried to emulate in my own music. May he rest in peace, his legacy is his songs.
I'm glad somebody said this, as a drummer I always thought he was fantastic. That entire first album is just gold on the drums. If anybody matched dude's voice in that band it was this guy's drumming. It was just as powerful...
@@johnrsherwood Agreed. I posted the original comment. I am also a drummer and, back in the 80's I used to play along to that entire first album. His drumming stood out but also complemented the arrangement on every song. RIP John Fowler.
As an 80s child I listened to most of these "hair bands". White Lion, Y&T, Poisen, Dokken, White Snake, Cinderella and the list goes on. But these guys, with this song is just SO powerful. Every time he breaks through that intro it gives me chills.
I completely agree, :) I am so excited to share my favorite art with my Grandchildren one day, I think I just assumed my kids loved my music, but never say and asked them Ike this, .. so, I am going to make it a point to have this exact relationship with their kids.. lol 😆 🤣 😂 I mean I might buy , them/ he, her, a drum set, an amp absolutely an electric guitar... lol
Saw Miljenko last year at the M3 Festival and he still sounds amazing. He know the limits of his voice now, so we dont get the amazing high notes that often. But he still rocks.
When Mike first started wailin she jumped in her seat lol, don't be embarrassed Hon, that's a kind of universal reaction to listening to him the first time lol.
Check out Everyone loves Eileen! Or Can’t Stop Me Loving You next time around! Saw him last year in Vegas and yes he can still belt out this high notes with power and control. He’s amazing!!
This band (lead singer) definitely didnt get the recognition they (he) deserved with the amount of raw power and range.....still on my spotify playlist to this day :) along with "She's Gone"
This band is amazing, their lead singer is in a class of his own. I am mesmerized by their song “I’ll never let you go.” This song brings back memories of past relationship(s) that you realize years later is the one (1) you should have held onto through give and take. Thank-you to this band and their lead singer for performing this video and song. I will never let you go (always remembering your music). Peace.
Steelheart are very active and still touring the world. they are massively popular i south Korea. this song was written for his then fiance and soon after wife.
Soto was doing stuff in the TSO on west coast last few years. Sounds awesome singing the Xmas stuff also. Was not with TSO last winter though. Hope he comes back this fall. Saw him also with Journey back in the day. Man has some good pipes still
The convo about him being attractive is so funny. I was 12-13 when this song came out and this man was plastered all over my walls. What a time, what a time.
I LOVE Miljenko!!! His hair is alot shorter these days. Lol. He is still absolutely gorgeous! Saw him in person in 2007. He sounded so good! He still does! His voice is more mature and rich. I love Trust in Love and Lips of Rain ...a couple of his newer songs. Still love hearing him sing his old stuff too.
I've never heard Die Young until your recommendation, thank you. You are correct, very very good ballad. Added it to my playlist after I was done listening to it. And yes, he can still belt out those high notes!! As I said in my main comment, Never Let You Go is my favorite song all time.
I have been waiting to see your reaction to this! It is always entertaining to see the reactions by these channels to that first explosion of vocals by Miljenko. It is almost surreal how high he can go and how much power he has behind it. Him & Sebastian Bach of Skid Row never fail to deliver in these reactions. That said, such a great song! Tons of nostalgia with this one. Glad you guys were able to get to it!
The onstage accident that happened to Mili was very unfortunate. There is a video on RU-vid that was uploaded from original footage from someone in the crowd that night. It was horrific and Mili is lucky to be alive. His voice has never been the same due to the neck and throat injury he received. Even with that, recovery, therapy, learning how to eat and talk again let alone sing ... he still destroys 85% of any singer since that time. The guy is a once in a generational talent (i.e. edward van halen guitar for a vocalist). The reason why Steelheart never hit it big was because of timing. They came in at the ass end of the hair metal scene months before Grunge took over the world. If this guy dropped in 85', this comment wouldn't exist. Eat your heart out Halford, Dickinson, Tate, Dio.
@@fullmoonprepping4024 No one is denying Brad Delp. His vocal work with Boston was amazing but we are comparing two totally different types of singers here. As good as Brad was (RIP)... he NEVER would have held a candle to Milijenko and Brad would be the first to tell you that.
There was quite a bit of pushback against Steelheart among the metal community pretty much from the start. They burst onto the scene with what really is an incredibly generic ballad in a genre which was increasingly becoming known for generic ballads. Not taking a single thing away from Mili's insane vocals on the track, we were just burned out on this style of song at the time.
if only the lighting truss hadn't fallen....the guy was incredible (still has a better range and power than anything out now). I remember the first time my friend introduced me to Steel Heart, and played this song for me, I was just speechless, all I could say was "WOW!". Then there was the Rock Star songs....He split the vocal duties with Jeff Scott Soto if I remember correctly. Milli still did most of the soundtrack and just was instantly recognizable by those of us who knew that voice.
Thanks for sharing this song. I never forgot Steelheart, but what a set of pipes. You never realize someone's talent as much as when I heard this song for a second time. Again thanks for the share. I gu4ss I have another download to make.
My wife's bff and i play this song every weekend and we sing it! Shes good but i scream the high notes everyone gets a kick out of us when we doit! Love this song
Great song choice for a reaction. Thank you for giving it a thumbs up. I first heard it in 92 on the radio and immediately called the station and asked who it was. The guy said Steelheart and I said, "who?" Then I bought the cassette and wore it out. I was listening to Slaughter, Helloween, King Diamond, Skid Row at the time but had never heard those upper register notes with such "oomph!" Not until Miljenko.
When this song hit the radio for the first time I was blown away by this song and his vocal range I immediately went and bought the cd just for this song. Still love it and still have the cd.
My favorite song all time. Ever!! Amazing voice with both power, lots and lots of power, and range, crazy man range. I love watching peoples' reactions on the opening when he switches gears and goes heavy metal.
There are sooo many great songs from the 70's and 80's that I could recommend. They are all well known and well loved songs. Sooo many that I can relate to on a personal level. So, one of those personal songs that I will recommend, that is also seemingly not well known or talked about much is Faster Pussycat's House Of Pain. Great song and I think you will both enjoy it. Burch...you may or may not know it but I know Alexis doesn't know it.
This band is fantastic and will never be equaled. James Durbin has covered She's Gone and did a great job. He is able to do the yoga moves that Miljenko does.
Absolutely love that song. Brings back so many great memories partying with my friends back in the early 90’s. The range on his vocals is second to none! But I truly believe The Metal God, Rob Halford would give him some heavy competition in his day. Loud and Proud 🤘
Just came across this because I watched somebody else's reaction to it, yours was exceptional and you earned a like and subscribe. I love when people catch both the punch of his voice and whatever the hell that back bend was. Thank you for filling me in on what happened, when they were rising and I was noticing them was when my children were born and then I went to college shortly thereafter and was too writing papers and reading books to listen to music that had lyrics. For 8 years I listen to mostly soundtracks like Last of the Mohicans, braveheart, dances with wolves and the man from snowy River. It was nice to have music in the background, but lyrics would have prevented me from being able to get all the reading I needed done. But I do remember steelheart, damn they were good. I had the hair too, back then anyway. Anyway, a couple of goods bands you might want to check out, glass tiger which is the band. My ex and I went to see on our first date. They blew away survivor. By the end of the concert, there were only 4 or 500 people left in the auditorium. Survivor was stoned, drunk or both. They were terrible. I have never liked them since then. But glass tiger, they were incredible. The song you should check out is watching worlds crumble. It's pretty apropos for today's world issues. Steelheart makes you want to fall in love, glass tiger makes you want to change the world. There was an album called silk and steel by a band called Guiffeia, very talented as well, but it was the '80s and their videos were a little bit on the obnoxious side. Not in a bad way, just corny. That was back when MTV actually had music on their channel. Way, really good reaction to steal heart, one of my favorites so far.
great stuff, you are back, fantastic choice, info cool, prescription fix filled, best addiction to have.....flickering box... hope to see you BOTH sooner than later. vocals are superb. keep up the fine picks.. .... next time.
That was a great reaction! Mili was most definitely a vocal beast back in the day! I mean no arguments there, but, Birch, I'm wondering have you heard of Crimson Glory? An 80s US heavy power metal band currently on hold. So their original lead singer (John Patrick McDonald aka "Midnight") is considered to be one of the best (if not the absolute best) singers of his generation. Sadly he is not with us any more, he passed away back in 2009 if I'm not mistaken, but If you're not familiar with him or the band, you really need to make a reaction video. Crimson Glory were fantastic in my opinion and "Midnight" was hands down untouchable at that time (1986-1989). A good start would be the song "Masque of the red death" or "Lady of winter" or pretty much anything from the "Trancedence" album. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Also you said at some point that there are no singers who sound like Mili today. Ummmm... you might wanna think again about that. I don't know if the names Yannis Papadopoulos & Tommy Johansson ring any bells for you... If they don't, then you really really, I mean really really need to check them out as well! Yannis is the lead singer for Beast in Black and Tommy is the lead guitarist for Sabaton and he has his own band called Majestica ex-ReinXeed where he is the lead singer. Now Tommy is considered by many (myself included) to be one of the best, if not the absolute best, power metal singers of his generation. He is 36 years old. Tommy has his own you tube channel and he uploads a new video every Friday covering a new song every time. He has covered both "She's gone" & "I'll never let you go" by Steelheart and he did a phenomenal job on both of them! His performances are insanely good!! His voice range is out of this world! You really need to react to him! Yannis on the other hand has also his own you tube channel where he uploads his covers every now and then and he is the only male singer who covered "Ghost love score" by Nightwish (he did Floor's version) and he did an outstanding job! His performance on this one is unreal and mesmerizing to say the least! Man, you really need to check them both out! They are both jaw-dropping good! Trust me, you will be amazed! Oh! Also I apologize for the huge comment... I guess I got carried away! 😀😃😉 Anyways, take care and have a great day!.. And by the way, I think it's oomph...
@@brandonedmonson5578 Yeah, man! Geoff undoubtedly was among the greatest in the 80s! But I still think "Midnight" was the... top beast among the... beasts at that time if you know what I mean. His voice range was unreal! I don't know. Maybe he was an alien or something! 😃😀😄 The things this man could do with his voice were unbelievable! I think, I'm not sure about that, I could be wrong, that Crimson Glory might be one of the less covered bands and there is a reason for that. I mean someone must have a huge pair of... you know what to even think let alone actually try to cover "Midnight"! At least in my opinion. Yannis, as I mentioned in my previous comment, did 2 covers by Crimson Glory in his own you tube channel for the songs "Masque of the red death" & "Eternal world" before his time in Beast in Black and he absof@#$inglutely nailed them both! You should check them out. I thought it was impossible for someone to cover "Midnight", but Yannis proved me wrong big time! I was blown away by him the very first time I listened to his covers and I still am to be honest. That is why I think Yannis & Tommy are currently the best power metal singers out there...
The eighties to the mid nineties was the BEST time in music!! Today's music doesn't even make me want to listen... for the most part. But now, I'm into Meshuggah! 😁
This song is the reason I married my first husband!! :) It takes me right back to that time, age.. just every single time I hear it I remember, its amazing!!!
She's Gone is an amazing ballad, in the acoustic version, but give the full tilt arrangement a listen. His voice, with the electric guitars behind him and thunderous drums, will really pound at your chest.
