Head over Heels is my favorite song. Tears for Fears is a great band. I would recommend Shout, Pale Shelter, and Mad World and Change. Their whole catalog of music is amazing.
OMG, this is your first from them? I'm shocked...Their music is absolute perfection, as you will discover. Even their new release proves they have not lost their golden musical touch..
Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith are Tears for Fears. It is Roland's falsetto here. As this song is from 1985, British, and New Wave, Duran Duran may well have been an influence.... Other songs to check out are Mad World and Change from their first album The Hurting, and Shout and Everybody Wants To The Rule World from Tales From The Big Chair, the album that also contains Head Over Heels, my favourite Tears for Fears song.
Richard Kelly clearly chose the soundtrack very carefully when you look at the lyrics (not just this song but pretty much every song in the movie) I made a fire and watching it burn ✔️ I thought of your future With one foot in the past Just how long will it last? ✔️
One of my all time favourite songs. It really does have it all. Production perfection. A song that people will love even if it doesn't fit to the music they would normally like, it is that good !
This is my absolute TFF song. My husband surprised me on my bday a few years ago and got us tickets to see them live. Not gonna lie, I cried as soon as I heard that intro. Their music is pure magic
I'm seeing Tears For Fears tomorrow in Tampa and I can't freaking wait. Other TFF songs you should check out: Change, Mad World, Pale Shelter, Mother's Talk, Advice For the Young at Heart, Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Sowing the Seeds of Love... their new album, The Tipping Point, is really good too!
I don't know what happened but nobody makes bangers like this anymore. Being a little kid in the 80's was pretty fantastic. Great music, great movies and great games.
One of my favorite songs ever! The whole album is amazing. Please watch and listen to Sowing the Seeds of Love. Elemental, Closest Thing to Heaven, The Hurting are some of my favorites as well, I guess these are a little deeper cuts. Also I get your Simon LeBon comparison, I love both bands!
One of the best 80s songs. Positive vibes but also melancholic. Pale Shelter, Mad world, Everybody wants to rule the World, shout are worth to listen too. Comparable with Tears for Fears and also typical 80s were Simple Minds.
TFF tick so many boxes - songwriting talent, vocal delivery, melody, instrumentation, layering...🙌🏻. Check out Mad World, Shout, Pale Shelter and Everybody Wants to Rule The World.
LOVE Tears for Fears!! You’re content is always good but lately… DANG lol You are gonna love their other songs “Everybody wants to rule the world” “Shout” “Mad World” and so on! 👏👌🥰
you will LOVE this group. one of the biggest in the 80s. so so many great songs, you might even know them. plus they have a new album out, just as good too. mad world, shout, everybody wants to rule the world, are just 3 massive hits from them.
Awesome that you're getting into Tears For Fears! "Sowing the Seeds of Love" is a masterpiece and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" & "Shout" are 80's anthems!
Tears for Fears are my 5th favourite 1980s band/artist. This song is my 2nd Favourite Tears for Fears song.... Pale Shelter being my Fav.... The album The Hurting is amazing .... Love it, Thank you
Songs From the Big Chair is essential to any record collection. Don't miss their new Album The Tipping Point and especially the song No Small Thing...I think you'll like it.
TFF were right up there with Duran Duran for me. I think you need to start with the big hits, 'Mad World', 'Shout', 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World', that's if you haven't heard any of them. Just my opinion though. So glad you liked this.
Tears For Fears have so many bangers but SHOUT is also one of my favorites. Would love to see a reaction to that one! Love your reactions!! The faces you make😅😅
More Tears For Fears, please! Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears are my two favorite bands and I know that you like Depeche Mode. You will not be disappointed with Tears For Fears. They also have so many great songs. I'm surprised that they are not yet in the Rock and Roll Hall Of fame like D.M. is.
I just came home from TFF playing in Denver. They have a new album out for the first time in 17 years. Too many suggestions but try a few from the Seeds of Love like Woman in Chains and Badman’s Song. Or newer tunes like Break the Man and My Demons. Can’t go wrong with classics like Mad World (Gary Jules did a famous remake), Pale Shelter, Everybody wants to Rule the World, and Shout. You will have a blast!
This song is so awesome! I heard it back in the 80s and every so often I catch myself singing the last part of the song. "This is my four leaf clover...." 🎶🎵🎶 Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Shout are amazing as well.
Tears for Fears is such a great group. IF you didn't know, the two singers you see (Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith) just reunited to do their first TFF album together in 18 years. It's amazing. "The Tipping Point" is the name of the album, as well as the best song on it. They're best known for 80s tunes like "Head Over Heels", so if you stay in that era, you must listen to "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," "Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Shout", and "Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down)". Thanks for reacting!
There’s a live version of this included on the CD (dating myself) that is amazing. It connects with an instrumental song/extension of some kind that leaves you breathless.
"Head Over Heels" was one of the biggest hits but "Woman In Chains" has got to be the most emotional song in their catalog. Haunting, tragic, and beautiful are the best adjectives to best describe it. The complimenting vocals have almost a gospel music vibe. Try it!
The obvious choices here are "Shout" and "Everybody Wants to Tule the World". But I would also add "Mothers Talk", "Sowing the Seeds of Love" and "Woman in Chains". All amazing songs.
You seem to have a real affinity for music from the 1980s. I would be interested in your reaction to Ofra Haza's "Im Nin 'alu", which was released in 1988.
My favorite Tears for Fears song was "Change" from 1981. Other hits for them from that year were "Pale Shelter" and "Mad World." Their biggest hits would come later, after they hit it big in the US, but I'm sure others will fill you in on those.
I think the following will blow your mind: Shout, I Believe, Pale Shelter, Advice for the Young at Heart, Mad World, Woman in Chains, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Elemental, Change, Raoul and the Kings of Spain. And there's the masterpiece Sowing the Seeds of Love!!!
It's all about the bass!!! Amazing song from a great band!!! They were around at the same time as Duran Duran, maybe hitting the big time slightly later, but still 80s magic, that's probably why there were similarities.
Can't wait to hear your reactions to Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Shout and Sowing the Seeds of Love. Tears For Fears made it ok to embrace that '80's sound' music.
I was a teen in the 80's & Tears For Fears were everything to me. 💕 So many great songs to choose from them. Would recommend for a start their songs "Shout", "Pale Shelter", "Everybody Wants to Rule", "Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Woman In Chains", & one of their latest songs, "The Tipping Point"
I used to work for an inventory company in the 80s. We traveled around on an old Bluebird bus doing inventory on various stores. Their album, Songs From the Big Chair rarely left my Sony Walkman. You should just react to the whole album. It's AMAZING!!!
Now you're on the right track. Roland Orzabal is a vocal God. Curt Smith also AND the guitar talent is there. Hear them ALL. Shout, Everbody Wants To Rule the World, The Working Hour anything from Everybody Loves a Happy Ending just anything dude. Oh, I love watching your reactions. One of my go tos for sure.
You will know "Everybody Wants to Rule the World", you may know "Shout", "Woman in Chains" and "Sowing the Seeds of Love"... You should also check out "Break It Down Again".
That shot was cool to watch them shoot in one of their VHS tapes...was it Scenes from the Big Chair? TFF has been one of my very favorite bands since the early 80's. I'm going to see them live this Monday. Yes that bass. Curt Smith gives good bass.
Apologies ahead for a LONG post... 😅 Long time Tears for Fears fan here! I always absolutely love seeing new people getting introduced to classics I grew up with! 🥰 If you want to deep-dive into this group, Pale Shelter, Memories Fade, and Start of the Breakdown are great choices from the first album. From Songs from the Big Chair, look for The Working Hour, I Believe, and Mother's Talk (the US remix)... as you've already done Head over Heels! Lots of people would recommend Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and as much as I love them, they are very over done... Look to some of the lesser known tracks if you really want to get a good feel! The Seeds of Love Album: Woman in Chains (I adore Oleta Adams!), Badman's Song, Year of the Knife, and Famous Last Words are some great tunes! THEN we get the the breakup years!! Curt left the group, but Roland continuted Tears for Fears solo for two albums. Elemental is a great title track. I also really love Cold, Mr Pessimist, and Goodnight Song. Next was... Raoul and the Kings of Spain - another great title track, but you should also listen to Secrets, Sketches of Pain... and Oleta Adams returns to duet with Roland on Me and My Big Ideas! Curt, meanwhile, did have a few solo albums during this time. Some good songs from his stuff are Jasmine's Taste, Snow Hill, What Are We Fighting For, and Coming Out... Also, during this 10-year separation, Roland put out a solo album called Tomcats Screaming Outside. A little known album, but some FAB tracks on it! Low Life, Bullets for Brains, Under Ether, and Snowdrop are some of my favorites. Roland and Curt returned in 2004 with Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. Great Tracks include Closest Thing to Heaven, Call Me Mellow, Who Killed Tangarine, and Killing With Kindness. Then we get the BIG dry spell... 2017 did have a new track on their Greatest Hits... I Love You But I'm Lost. FINALLY, the New Album!! The Tipping Point! I LOVE the title track, and some other greats are: My Demons, No Small Thing, Rivers of Mercy, End of Night, plus bonus tracks like Secret Location and Let it All Evolve! Also, if you are curious... Tears for Fears first got their "freshman start" as Graduate! Many people haven't even heard of this pre TFF band as the music is quite different! If you look *that* up, some weird hits from there are Acting My Age, Ever Met a Day, and Elvis Should Play Ska!
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude If you are interested... I have a large Tears for Fears *playlist* on my channel. Not just videos, but interviews and live performances too. Just thought I'd let you know. 😊
You're totally making my day with your choices today Bryson. This is one of my fave songs in life. Tears for Fears have such intense, sad, feel good songs that you want to put on repeat. I see a lot of requests for Sowing the Seeds of Love and that is def a feast for the eyes and ears.
YES YES YES I’m so excited that I got to be here for your first Tears For Fears! This is one of my favorites by them but most don’t even consider this one of their best! There are just so many great ones. I’ll try to shorten my list of suggestions (their songs are all just too good): Shout Everybody Wants to Rule the World Mother’s Talk Break It Down Again Change I’ll leave it at that but honestly anything you do will be amazing.
Yes!! TFF earned a full episode. 😊❤ pls also check Sowing The Seeds Of Love, Advice For The Young At Heart, Woman In Chains, The Way You Are and Shout.
Nice! Glad you liked it. :-) Whatever you choose to listen to by them next will be good but I have to admit that personally I like the classics such as "Mad World", "Shout" and "Sowing the Seeds of Love" the best. I do like their new stuff as well, though.
Bryson, the video being set in a library brightening your mood brightened my mood in return. It's a chain reaction. 🙂 Can't wait for a full episode of TFF, you're in for a treat! As for recomendations, Mad World, Pale Shelter, Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Mother's Talk, I believe (underrated gems both), Woman in Chains, Sowing the Seeds of Love, The Tipping Point...to name but a few.
Uuuff, so here's a "short" list: Mad World, Change, Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Woman in Chains, Sowing the Seeds of Love, Advice for the Young at Heart, Break it Down Again, Goodnight Song, God's Mistake, Closest Thing to Heaven, I Love You But Im Lost., The Tipping Point, My Demons and End of Night... all singles except the last one
Ahh, yes, Tears for Fears! This album Songs From the Big Chair was a really huge hit for them, both commercially and critically. It helped showcase to the world that this was a very intelligent and thoughtful band that also happened to make very lovely, well produced pop music :) Pretty much anything you pick off of it will be great!
Try Woman In Chains, Sowing The Seeds of Love, Badman's Song (no video) and Advice For the Young At Heart. All from their 3rd masterpiece album - The Seeds of Love
Great reaction! We love when you love a song, too. :-) Love Tears for Fears! ... I (and a lot of Americans), like, totally thought the 1980s Second British Invasion bands were awesome and rad ... and bloody marvelous (as the Brits might say :-) ). Love their British accents, too. LOL. Saw them in concert in the fall of 1985, while I was a college student, on their "Songs From the Big Chair" tour. If you do a deep dive, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Shout" (both No. 1 pop songs in the U.S.) and "Mad World" are must-listens, too. ... Btw, "Head Over Heels" reached No. 3 on the pop singles chart.
Love Tears for Fears. Other great songs are Advice for the Young at Heart, Shout, Woman in Chains, Pale Shelter, and Everybody Wants to Rule the World, just to name a few. Pale Shelter is one I’ve requested on so many channels. Maybe you’ll be the first to do one.
