The Beatles are the greatest ever. They basically invented pop music and then went onto invent the concept album (Sgt. Pepper's) and were pioneers in songwriting and use of technology; the use of loops, etc, etc. They released 13 official albums between 1963 to 1970. They had 4 songs inside the top 10 charts *at the same time*. No one will ever accomplish what they did ever again.

The Beatles have a huge catalog of songs, and they're almost all great songs. They changed so much over the years. Every song is different. It's very cool to see their evolution over the years. You'll probably be blown away by their later period songs.

I was one of the 73,000,000 Americans (40% of the population at the time) who excitedly watched The Beatles when they first performed on a popular TV show in early 1964. They went on to have a massive influence on rock music , inspired many great bands, and set many cultural trends all over the world. Song construction was very simple at that time, but drastically changed in the late 1960's. If you are interested in exploring Beatles music then I would highly recommend some of their live performances. Start with their rooftop concert with the song Don't Let Me Down. it was one of the last concerts they did before splitting up. I enjoyed your reaction.

The Beatles were from Liverpool. Their music originated from Skiffle, Beat, and 50s Rock 'n' Roll. There are too many songs to list here as far as favorites because everything they did was a smash hit. I do love "Ticket to Ride".

Oh my days!! Lol. Only The most famous group in the world!!😂 from Liverpool. So famous that Michael Jackson spent an absolute fortune buying the copyrights to their back catalogue. Everyone has covered at least one of their songs at some time. Their catalogue is huge as Paul McCartney and John Lennon were prolific songwriters. I was 9-years-old when The Beatles first appeared on The Ed Sullivan show, February 9, 1964 -- their first national exposure in the US, exactly 60 years ago this month. On that date, Ringo Starr & John Lennon were 23, Paul McCartney, 21, & George Harrison, 20 (2 weeks shy of 21) - that's how VERY young they really were!!! I LOVED them immediately, feelings that never waned, & they have been the most prominent & beloved band on the soundtrack of my life ever since. Facts everyone should know -- John was murdered in NYC on Dec 8, 1980, 10 years after The Beatles broke up. He was 40 years old. George died of cancer on Nov 29, 2001, age 58. Ringo (now 83) & Paul (81) are alive & well & still delighting audiences with their wonderful music!!!!! The history of The Beatles, & how their empire was built, & why they are still so very popular, is a story every music fan should know!! Everyone in every generation should listen to their extensive & incredibly entertaining catalogue & learn their stories, & find out how 4 young lads from Liverpool, England changed the world!!! There are innumerable reasons & recordings (from 1962-1970) that show why The Beatles are the GOATs among all the other GOATS in the world, & you should do yourself a favor and listen to it all. I know you'll enjoy the ride!! Each band member also had a very successful post-Beatles career, & there is SO MUCH great music in that assortment as well!!! I am 60 years old from New Jersey. I grew up with the Beatles and made a pilgrimage to Liverpool. Best band ever.

First time listener and thank you for a great reaction! As mentioned, the Beatles have so many great songs. I always look at their "early" songs and their "later" songs. Some early Beatles, Twist and Shout, Hard Days Night, I Want to Hold Your Hand are just a few. Later songs as mentioned, listed to their entire second side of the Abbey Road album, a compilation of partially completed songs that they just played and recorded, Revolution is a great song, Here Comes the Sun and While My Guitar Gently weeps are just a few "later" tunes. These guys were simply amazing.

This is early Beatles it’s so interesting how they evolved over time. 50 years later they still continue to have new fans. I would suggest A Day In The Life by them. An amazing song 😊

"I Feel Fine" is one to consider! Same time period as this one (roughly) and another joyful 2 minutes or so of Beatles magic--different (as they always are) and historic (as they often were-first recorded use of distortion). You can listen to their top 50 songs and only scratch the sirface...

You've just experienced the biggest selling music act in music history, and nobody else even comes close. They have the most #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 (with 20) and 35 overall top 10 hits. I would do whole album reviews if I were you. They are that amazing, and evolved so much in their 8 year recording history. I would start with the Beatles 1st album (Please, Please Me) and go right through until their final released album, "Let it Be". I Subscribed! Peace

As Alice Cooper said, "Everybody was influenced by somebody, but I think everybody was influenced by The Beatles." One of the many amazing things about The Beatles is how quickly they evolved in such a short time. As Elvis Costello said, "Every record was a shock when it came out. Every single was an event.” Or, as Ozzy Osbourne called them, “The Greatest Band To Ever Walk The Earth!”

The Beatles can to the US in February 1964 for their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. In November 1963 President John Kennedy had been assassinated in Dallas. The country was in shock and had gone through a subdued holiday season because of it. In a way, the Beatles helped “snap us out of it”. Their music was new and fresh, and different, and was about to change the landscape of popular music. It’s hard to understand today what an impact they had without being in the moment of those times 60 years ago.

Lennon’s vocal is one of the greatest in popular music. When he rehearses he sings out of tune and mucks about but as soon as it’s a take then all of a sudden and as if by magic he sings perfectly. The Beatles are the greatest.

I get a little panicked when people say they are listening to the Beatles for the FIRST TIME EVER. As in, what the hell song will they CHOOSE, from so many GREAT ones--each so unique? The first tune is crucial, but even more important is to listen to dozens of songs over the span of the band's career to see how astoundingly they evolved, year by year, album to album. I can't even image hearing The Beatles for *the first time*. The concept makes me laugh. Since childhood, I've probably listened to their music almost every day for the last fifty years. They are woven into the fabric of my life, like family. Welcome down the rabbit hole, kids!!!

The Beatles grew and changed a lot over the years. This was an early song of theirs and they have a lot of different sounds with different lead singers. This was John Lennon. I'd recommend one from Paul McCartney - Let it Be or one from George Harrison - Here Comes The Sun next.

In this time period the majority of songs were enduring love, lost love, jilted love, most beautiful girl, love at first sight. The Beatles were experts.

My Beatles suggestion would be literally anything by The Beatles. Most folks define two specific eras,, the earlier more poppy stuff and the later more psychedelic period, beginning with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. However, I think there's really three distinct periods, one in the middle, coincidentally spanning 3 albums all released in a 12 month period, that was more of a transition (Help, Rubber Soul, and Revolver). Depending on your personal taste, I'd start with probably Help, but I always preferred the "later" Beatles. I Should Have Known Better is firmly in the "early" Beatles era. But honestly, you can't go wrong with anything, there's a reason they're still most peoples benchmark of success, and it's not all just hype.

Lennon and McCartney penned almost 300 songs, and it's hard to find a bad one. Throw in George Harrison's masterpieces along with Ringo's handful and the Beatles have a catalogue rivaled only by Beethoven and maybe only 1 or 2 others in history. Just 7 years from their first album to their last. Their music changed the world.

Between 1962 and 1970 the Beatles recorded 212 songs, most are great and they're all different. And their development in those years was amazing. They owned the 1960s. Welcome to Beatle World, please continue on this journey, I subscribed hoping you will. And you're charming people

Okay here are some good suggestions. The song hey Jude performed live on the Dick cavett show where the whole crowd joins in the ending part. The song help from the album help where they are playing with their guitars while they're on a bicycle built for four with Ringo in the back twirling an umbrella. Anything with a live performance so you can watch them work the microphones and see how professional they are. Songs from the other spectrum the end of their beetle years such as I want you she's so heavy. Another song Helter skelter is notable for its introduction of hard rock to the world. You will soon see that everything the Beatles recorded was worth listening to.

I was 18yo back in 1966 and then I heard Rubber Sole and then I heard real stereo for the first time. I was thrilled to the bone.

The Beatles made so many greate songs ant though their time as a band was surprisingly short they matured in their songwriting . They were so young - I think the time as a band ended when they were about 25 years old. If you look at treir songbook I am sure you will recognise many titles !

As others have said, The Beatles were incredibly versatile. Trippy (Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields, etc), poppy (She Loves You), melodic (In My Life, Yesterday), great harmonies (If I Fell + about 50% iof their output), blues, kids songs, heartfelt acoustics, piano ballads, scary shit (Blue Jay Way). Absolute genius band. The gift that keeps on giving.

My suggestion to you for Beatles reactions are to start with the early songs from 1963 and 64 and work your way up to 1970 when (spoiler alert) they broke up!! The Beatles consisted of 4 guys (John, Paul, George and Ringo... just run the names all together), all of whom sung. That makes the Beatles sound different from song to song. Two of the Beatles (John and Paul) are among the best ever singers in rock/pop music, and George was not far behind. Ringo tended to do more of the Beatles' novelty songs, but his voice is unusually distinctive. Two of the Beatles (John and Paul) are considered among the best -- if not the best -- songwriters in rock music, and George is not far behind. Toward the end of the Beatles, Ringo wrote a couple of pretty good songs, too. The Beatles had three distinct periods: early, mid and late. This song ("I Should Have Known Better") is from the early period, when the songs were all about love and usually targeted at teen girls. They are generally upbeat and often had a "happy" sound associated with the early Beatles. "I Should Have Known Better" is an excellent example of this. During this period, the Beatles did what we now think of as the "boy band" sound. Listen to "This Boy" and "If I Fell." They did uptempo rockers like "I Saw Her Standing There," and to-die-for love ballads like "And I Love Her." All are highly recommended for reaction videos. The mid-Beatles sound found the group moving to a more introspective style and drifting away from love songs. (Although love songs remained in their repertoire until the end.) Give a listen to "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," "Norwegian Wood" and "Taxman." For a real banger that was the first jazz-fusion song, listen to "Got to Get You Into My Life." Two songs from this period that are among the very best-ever pop songs are "Yesterday" and "Eleanor Rigby." Absolute must listens. The late Beatles has a few songs that you've probably heard at least bits of, such as "Let It Be," "The Long and Winding Road" and "Don't Let Me Down." George hit his stride as a songwriter with two gorgeous classics: "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something." And Ringo's "Octopus's Garden" is fun and catchy. And that skips a LOT of what the Beatles did... including skipping all of the "Sergeant Pepper" album that is filled with catchy and moving songs. Listen to "With a Little Help From My Friends" and -- if you want a challenge -- "A Day In the Life." When the Sergeant Pepper album came out in 1967, no one had ever heard anything like "A Day In the Life." Music immediately split into "before 'A Day In the Life' and after 'A Day In the Life'." The Beatles blazed the trail for modern pop/rock music, expanding the palette of ideas and sounds from which to compose catchy and thoughtful music. They (and their production staff) invented recording techniques still used today. And the Lennon-McCartney songwriting team is still considered the gold standard for songwriting. Through all of their brief career as a group, the Beatles were by far the most popular entertainment act on the planet. Imagine Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce combined, and multiply that by 5. Or 10. No other entertainment act came close. I apologize for the essay. 🙂

This is so early for them but even then it was so compelling, they had already put in a ton of time playing live in small venues that were really hardcore. Most notably the cavern in Liverpool which is where they were from, a shipping town and very blue collar, but also in Hamburg Germany for a while. And then in 1964 when they were so young, they exploded globally and they made a trip to the United States to play on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York and that is all she wrote. That is literally what the British Invasion in music refers to in terms of its beginning.

Start from the beginning, and go all the way through; they were together as The Beatles for LESS THAN A DECADE , yet went from sweet pop to heavy metal.
