My most favorite! I was in a car crash and in the hospital and my friends brought me a Walkman with a cute tape. I played the forest over and over again. The forest in headphones is hypnotic and ethereal
theres also many other theories about the song because robert has said different things everytime hes asked about it. hes very interesting in the way of you never know exactly what hes talki ng about
@@EnjoyableHandful Yeah I've heard the child abuse theory as well. I guess it's such a good song that it can be interpreted as any kind of horror one has experienced as a child.
The Cure is never what you thought it was going to be. Robert Smith has such a beautiful voice, you think it is going to be peaches and roses but the lyrics will always have you thinking. How about some Fixx: Secret Separation or Red Skies at Night
Big Cure fan, love being able to experience their music through a fresh perspective (I'm old- 60 soon.) Thank you for allowing me to see/hear this anew. Btw, anything from "disintegration" will be amazing, you will love it!
"What kind of lullaby is this?" A great one ;) It's been more than thirty years since I first danced to this song, and I still love it. You could simply call it a dark pop song, but it showcases what's great about Robert Smith and The Cure: beat and melody, lyrics, Smith's voice and on top of it a fabulous video to make it into a work of art.
Jayenuh, If you like the way the music kicks in at the beginning I highly recommend at reaction. The Cure - Fascination Street the extended mix version is very cool dream-like sounds in the instrumentation and makes your imagination go on a journey! Thanks
Try "Pictures of you" "Charlotte Sometimes" "a night like this" "10:15 Saturday night" "lovesong" "primary" are some songs you should check out by The Cure
What he says at the beginning: I spy with my little eye something that begins with S. And some more Cure songs I think you should check out are "Kyoto Song", "The Baby Screams", "Six Different Ways", and "The Blood".
This is my arachnophobia jam. 😃 Gotta love The Cure, thy are so unique and versatile. Mint Car and Love Cats are two of their other songs (among many others) that sound nothing like this.
Underrated? Its such an popular band, maybe the most popular in all genres of alternative music. In the 80ies they was also in all teenager magazines like the Backstreet Boys. And they are still since 40 years a very important band in the music buisness.... so, they are not underrated!! No No!
Just Like Heaven, Love Song, Love Cats, Fascination Street, Boys Don't Cry are a few of their hits. My sister was a huge fan of them when they were popular.
@@JayveeTV I couldn't/can't find it on your channel (though I know you did several other Cure ones), it's okay, you'll do that one one day, am sure ;-) - thanks for the ever eclectic choices and reviews you do!
I know Robert has said this, but I think it's totally plausible that is a cover story. As uncomfortable an idea as it is, the lyrics sound a lot like the description a child might give to describe a molestation situation. Horrifying and sick.
@@condemned1982 I had that thought as I read the lyrics. Sounds like a metaphorical description of sexual abuse of a child. Don’t know if it is, but that’s how it struck me.
His uncle used to play mind games. when a child,........kids like being a little scared in games as long as they know it is a game.........he loved it..........
Seen them since the 80s and still selling out , , “killing and Arab” if ya dare great song 🎶!! Great lyrics amazing musician all of them , goth , influenced typo !! And Devo . Brings back suck memories of H.S in the 80s the police go go’s and ………….. the smiths
I wrote a paper on "Killing an Arab" in AP English in HS and got to bring the song in to play for the class. It is based on The Stranger by Albert Camus, which we were reading in class (I got an A+!)
"Searching out of fear in the gathering gloom And suddenly a movement in the corner of the room And there is nothing I can do when I realize with fright That the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight"
8:04 Yeah, this is perfect for Halloween. Another crazy videos of Cure: The Lovecats, The Caterpillar, Close to me (original 1985) or the 1990 (version mixed up) .
If you want to hear a different side from them you should listen to Why Can't I Be You. I love them! They were very influential when I was a teenager. Amazing!
Hey Jayvee! Love your Cure reactions. You’ve done Pictures of You, Lovesong, and Lullaby all off of the Disintegration album. Might as well keep going. Next you should do the extended remix of Fascination Street. It’s sooo good.
Oh god I love this. The beat and the base are so good, and another awesome filmclip by them too. Excellent choice Jay.😁🎶👍❤️ A lot of Roberts songs are based on dreams he's had.
The cure are the only band I've ever seen live that didn't have any spotlights on for most of the show. They had the lights and stuff behind them. You could still see them, but they were all just dark figures cruising around on the stage killing it. It was like being on fascination street....
Your disturbed face was priceless! The Cure was my favorite band in high school way back when. It’s so good for young people to have music like this to help them manage all their complicated feelings, and not feel like they have to always be upbeat. Thanks for choosing this one.
@@getoffamycloud9844I guess it was because of Robert's collaborations with others. I left right after the concert with Gorillaz: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qyf-KEYl7d4.html
PLEASEEEE REACT TO Hottxasff40- “Khoppstikks” HES THE YOUNGEST RAPPER WHERE IM FROM THATS DOING MUSIC VIDEOS AND BEING CONSISTENT AND HE DOESNT GET THE RECONITION HE DESERVES
There's a bit of a divide between fans of The Cure, split into their "og" fanbase who are more into the bands' gothic aesthetics like Lullaby, A Forest etc., and then there's the pop Cure fans who love Friday, Just Like Heaven etc! Me personally, I'm one of those who love both, being able to appreciate more genres just means you get more music to enjoy :) And with your love of funkier songs/jazz/blues influence/BANGIN' basslines, I'm quite surprised nobody has thrown "The Lovecats" your way yet! If you'd be up for something that's kinda like the polar opposite of this song and still creative and interesting, that's the one for you, and I think it might be a favourite :D
Your surprised face.... hahahaha... priceless. One of the reasons why you are the best Reaction channel in Utube. By the way, if you don't know it: The Cure "A forest" is worth to be listened by you.
Great song choice! Some other great ones by The Cure are "Lovesong" ♥, and "Friday, I'm in love". Want some great songs for Halloween (also my bday lol)? Missy Elliott "Get Ur freak on", Ministry "Every day is Halloween", Rockwell "Somebody's watching me". Great reaction video as always, glad you liked it! :)
On candy stripe legs the Spiderman comes Softly through the shadow of the evening sun Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead Looking for the victim shivering in bed Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and Suddenly A movement in the corner of the room And there is nothing I can do When I realize with fright That the Spiderman is having me for dinner tonight Quietly he laughs and shaking his head Creeps closer now Closer to the foot of the bed And softer than shadow and quicker than flies His arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes Be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy Don't struggle like that or I will only love you more For it's much too late to get away or turn on the light The Spiderman is having you for dinner tonight And I feel like I'm being eaten By a thousand million shivering furry holes And I know that in the morning I will wake up In the shivering cold And the Spiderman is always hungry
Thanks for your reaction again. His vision was interesting. Their sound was so cool. And you always know it is them no matter the song even though all their songs are a different feel and flow. I recommend “Love cats” by The Cure . Oldie but a goodie. It’s a more ‘fun kinda song’.
Once dated a guy in 88 who was the spitting image of Robert Smith ,part of the attraction I suppose we were a too cool for school couple of goths funny enough although we split in 89 we still remain friends to this day ,I'm still a bit goth but wear velvet more sparingly these days lol !
