OK youngsters, allow an old schooler to inform you: This came out when I was a teenager, SO this song was part of the soundtrack in The Five Hearts movie; This was NOT the Five Heartbeats because the Five Heartbeats we're a fictitious group loosely based on the TEMPTATIONS. LA LA Means I Love You put the DELFONICS on the map in 1968! The is no such group as the Five Heartbeats - The Dells soundtracks we're also featured in that movie. As with many movies, soundtracks are featured - In Jackie Brown The DELFONICS songs loomed large... Man! Your generation surely missed how much men truly loved WOMEN... And we loved them right back 😉💎🌹

The Delphonics were....William "Poogie" Hart, Wilbert Hart and Randy Cain. William was inspired to write this song by his baby son. He would respond to his dad by saying La la la la. William then figured that his son was trying to say I love you, and so the song was born! The Delphonics have a great body of work! Check out Break Your Promise, Trying To Make A Fool Of Me, two of my favorites, but there are so many more!

They were one of the greatest groups of the late 60's to early 70's. They were a big part of "The Philadelphia Sound" which included groups like " The Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Mevin and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass, and the Three Degree's." For a time in the 70's "The Philadelphia Sound surpassed Motown as the predominate Rythm and Blues and Soul sound in the Black community. These gentlemen were revered in the white and Hispanic community back in the day too. Their music was featured in various movies including the movie "Jackie Brown" by Quentin Tarantino. Note: This song "La-La Means I Love You" was featured in the movie "Family Man" with Nicholas Cage singing the song in the movie.

I went on to be in local bands and when we played this song , the girls went crazy. Definitely a bump and grind song. This group, The Originals, The Temptations and all Motown made me appreciate the human voice because of how high or low in range one can go. My playlist is mostly that era music. I miss these sounds. How do babies get made with today's 'music'? This is hugging your lady on the dance floor music, where you get up close and personal. Now you’re getting into it. Brings me back to the good old slow dance days, lights out, I was waiting for you guys to get up and start dancing! Next up “Didnt I Blow Your Mind!” But you really got to get into the whole Philly Soul Sound.

My dad used to sing this to my mother all the time. They're both gone now but I'm sure he's still singing it to her.

"Ready or not" is definitely in The Five Heartbeats movie! (The scene where Ducky goes to the girls house and another guy picks her up.)

Isn't it a shame that the music of today has been reduced to vulgar and obscene representations of life as opposed to the sweet emotion and message of back in the day music. As a very senior citizen, it was a different time. I miss the time of slow dancing and actually having fun.

The movie The five heartbeats was based on an r&b group back in the day called The dells, not the delfonics but close. You two should really look up their music catalog it's going to blow your mind.

The song is playing in the background (maybe on a juke box) when they were in the diner doing the shy brother routine.
