First time hearing The HU- "Wolf Totem" *REACTION* 

RU-vid recommended this song to me about 3 years ago. I’ve been dancing to it ever since. I’m a 70 year old great grandmother! 🤷🏾‍♀️

The Hu is a band from Mongolia. The lyrics are in Mongolian. The song is about being prepared to defend their homeland. And the vocal technique being used is called "throat singing."

Been listening to The Hu for a couple of years now. Wolf Totum is my favorite. I play it often when I feel the need for some inspiration.

I just checked the info on them. They are a Mongolian band and only sing in their native language. I checked out the lyrics on Google. It's so nice to have something so different to think about. Thanks Greg!

There is a version of this with Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach and another song they did with Lzzy Hale. They are amazing in and of themselves those two collaborations are even more amazing

This song is as epic now as it was when they first recorded it. It’s a traditional Mongolian war chant. edit: The singing is called Tuvan throat singing.

This is a war song. There is a video with lyrics. They did a colab with Pappas Roach and others so there is some English in that Song. It's really well put together.

I sometimes forget many, especially Americans forget that us mongols exist and are still around 😂 But yes, this is song is a power chant talking about the strength of our warriors, their bravery and ability to defeat any threat that comes our way. Nice to see more people experience our music, culture and so on!

The general meaning of the song is, "If you come here looking for trouble, we will give it to you". That's also what the guy says when he speaks in the middle of the song.

Good on ya guy! You got it. Here’s some stuff I read. Mongolia was never conquered. 30% of the people are nomadic. The president of Mongolia was one of the bikers when this was filmed. Genghis Kahn and company took over more territory than any ever. If you joined them their reputation protected you. If not, you died.

Give Sugaa Essena a listen. It's incredible. It's from one of the Star Wars movies and it's actually in a made up language. These guys are Mongolian throat singers, and some of the instruments they use are traditional Mongolian instruments that you've probably never heard of. They make me want to jump on a horse and follow them into war.

This song, after learning they were decedents of Genghis Khan, made me look deeper into Genghis Khan, because we have been taught he was an evil man. Of course in today's society he would be considered an evil man, but you have to consider the time in which he lived, totally different than what society expects now. Genghis Khan wanted unity for all Mongolians, he wanted all tribes together and part of his army instead of fighting one another. Now if you surrendered, it is said he was quite lenient and you joined his army, but if you wanted to fight, well then it was on and he and his army were going to win. That's basically what this song is saying, they do not want trouble, but if you want to start trouble and bring evil intentions their way, they'll have no problem finishing it. Great reaction vid!

I listened to them a while back.. when I got into native American songs, and went down a path of cultural music, and what I felt was they are very similiar.. I think it's the use of instruments that aren't electric.

This song ALWAYS brings to mind a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario: IF the Mongolian Horse Clans at the HEIGHT of their strength/power (which I believe was under Genghis Khan, but please correct me if I'm wrong about that) would have faced off against the Native American Indian tribes at the HEIGHT of their strength/power, who would actually win? YES, I know that BOTH Peoples were in different parts of the world, and as far as we currently know neither group had any interaction with each other, and both Peoples were from different time periods. However, that being said, BOTH Peoples were highly trained Mounted Warriors, and mostly lived in similar areas (meaning primarily plains), and both Peoples seemed to be equally trained/skilled as Mounted Warriors. So again, in a hypothetical 'what-if' scenario, who would actually win? Just always wondered about that.
