The Hu is a Mongolian rock band formed in 2016. With traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, and Mongolian throat singing,.

They call their style of music Hunnu Rock where they combine their traditional Mongolian Instruments with Western instruments. You should check out their song The Great Chingiss Khaan if you want to see the entire band. This video, though, is the one that first turned me onto The Hu. I saw them live when they were here in the US in 2019 back in November. They don't disappoint! They were awesome!

Your initial reaction was correct. Watch the lyrics version and you'll see that it is a war song. They're basically saying, "Attack the Mongols and we'll rip you apart."

They are ridiculously good live. They actually sound better than the record versions, which is hard to fathom because of the exquisite sounds they make. Saw them in Boston Massachusetts, and having worked concerts for several years I will put their show side-by-side with any that I’ve ever seen, if not above.

The HU combines Rock Music with traditional Mongolian instrumentation like the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp), guttural throating singing and the bombastic bass and drums of rock. You can hear it better in The Hu - Sugaan Essena, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oJZfEh3EciU.html Which is used as main title track in Star wars - Jedi Fallen Order ..

- the national instrument of Mongolia.It is a typical Mongolian two-. The body and the neck are carved from wood. The end of the neck has the form of a horse-head and the sound is similar to that of a violin or a cello.

INSTRUMENTS: That horse head instrument is called Morin khuur (horse head fiddle). Next like a guitar instrument is called Tovshuur (Mongolian traditional guitar). The other similar to a cello is a different type of Morin khuur. SINGING: Their style is called Karkyraa and Khoomei (Mongolian throat singing - reminds"fry vocals" of a man with bass voice, like Till Lindemann from Rammstein. It's done more using the throat and vocals chords). There's a 2nd vocalist that sometimes will do throat vocals a bit higher than the main singer. MUSIC GENRE: The Hu said they are created new genre they called Hunnu rock (rock, Mongolia folk, metal).

@anandkhurdjangar3471

Those instruments are of Mongol origin and other nomadic people of Central Asia use them as well. The violin-like instrument is called the Morin Khuur and the instrument that looks like the guitar/bass is called Tovshuur/Topshur/Dombra. Throat singing was invented by Central Asian nomads over thousands of years ago from the inspirations of the surrounding nature. Throat singing is only found in Mongolia and neighbouring regions of Tuva, Altai, as well as Kalmykia and Khakassia. These regions are all republics (autonomous) of Russia, inhabited by people with Mongol and Turkic roots, whose ancestors are nomadic.

A long while ago I found a video of Huun Huur Tu. A Tuvan (Mongolian) band who do the throat singing and the dual tone singing. It’s no rock, it’s etnic and/or folk chants, prayers and stories. It’s simply mindblowing. Once they start singing, you imagine the plaines and the mountains and the brutal nature of Mongolia. Horses play a big role in the Mongolian culture (remember Genghis Khan and The Huns). In some districts it’s their only way of transport. Also hunting is a big part of Mongolian culture. I believe they are the last hunters who use eagles. If you listen closely to their music you hear birdcalls and horses. In the video we just watched, you see the horseheads on the instruments, you hear simulated horses, hooves and their rhythm. Back to Huun Huur Tu. This is the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i0djHJBAP3U.html The best examples are: 1:35 Oske Cherde (prayer) It is a bit of a long ‘intro’ to a more rhythmic part at 2:49. 6:20 Sygyt (dual tone singing) 10:02 Chiraa-Khoor (here again the rhythm of the horses hooves and the horse sounds, the dual tone singing) I love the tone of the voice of the man making the horse hoove sounds. 16:25 Kargyraa (Tuvan throat singing 30:20 Kozhamyk (there are the horses again, undeniably ) Just have a listen in your own time (no reaction needed) Have fun and enjoy. It is soothing and mesmerizing.

With the right technique, it actually doesn’t hurt or strain your voice at all! If you push it wrong and try to force a sound, it will damage your voice though. It’s actually pretty cool. I’ve picked it up in a few months and can hold a slight tune in all 3 styles. Definitely not on their level though.

How manly. (Although the women also do throat singing.) Instrument looks like a near relation to the Kazakh Dhombyra. Long, skinny throat, few strings, big box. At one point the lead guy was practicing to play Darth Vader's lazer thing. Or a metal detecting wand. I had to laugh because his final expression looked like, "Wanna fight?" I have a dhombyra. A little tiny one 2" long, gift from Dimash-loving sister.
