*The no 1 song on every stalkers playlist. This is what Sting (singer) said about writing this song. “Every Breath You Take” is often and incorrectly thought to be a love song. But it's about the sadness and jealousy of breaking up in a relationship and an unhealthy obsession that follows leading to stalking." He said it creeps him out a bit when he hears ppl have played this as their wedding song.*
Another young RU-vid reactor, who was a hip -hop/ rap fan all his life , recently said “ I feel like my whole life has been a lie” , after hearing so many classic songs that were sampled later, and he heard the originals …
💙LOVE The Police!!! -Synchronicity II -Canary in a Coalmine -King of Pain -Don't Stand So Close to Me -Every Little Thing She Does is Magic -Spirits in the Material World -Wrapped Around Your Finger -Message in a Bottle -Roxanne
"I'll Be Missing You" is based on a sample of the 1983 single "Every Breath You Take" by the Police. It also uses an interpolation of the "Every Breath You Take" melody, sung by Biggie's widow, Faith Evans. Combs did not secure legal approval for the sample before releasing the song, and Police songwriter Sting sued, receiving 100% of the song royalties"
Someone below said to react to Bruce Hornsby and the Range song called That's Just the Way It Is. Unless you're already familiar with this song, you'll probably have the same reaction because it was used by someone that I'm 100% sure you've heard and probably didn't know that it wasn't the original. I've seen so many shocked people on these videos who only knew of the sample but didn't know there was an original. BTW...Bruce Hornsby's version is really great.
“ Puff Daddy” as he was known then, actually had Sting ( from the Police) perform this with him on an awards show as a tribute to Biggie Smalls… you have very deep rabbit hole to dive into when it comes to The Police and there lead singer Sting, who also had a very good solo career… . The song was released in the early 80’s. The Police is one of my favored groups of all time , definitely my favored rock group .
Puffy straight up stole this song 😂 He was of course later sued, and is still paying royalties to Sting (the singer, he wrote it) till this day. Check out "Fields of gold" by this guy. It's a life changing classic.
Ah, the stalking song that many people played at their weddings! 🤣 Sting (the lead singer of The Police) said at a concert I attended that he thinks love songs are boring so always writes some complications into any sort of song about love, be it stalking or inappropriate relationships, or love triangles, that sort of thing. You need to check out some of his solo career work! Start with "Shape Of My Heart" and "Desert Rose". The guy is an excellent songwriter, truly one of the greats. If you want more of The Police, check out "Englishman In New York" and "Don't Stand So Close To Me"
It doesn't matter that Sting had a stalker in mind, when he wrote this. Since that isn't specifically written into the lyrics, every listener can make the words mean what they get out of it. Garth Brooks once said of his song, The Dance, that so many different people got so many different meanings out of the song, it was cool for him to be able to bring out so many different memories.
Great reaction Nat, even though some people saw this song as a bit of a creepy stalker's track due to the lyrics. Yes, Police and lead singer 'Sting' an awesome English band from the 1970's. Sting was also an actor and played some lead roles in a few movies. Sting left the band Police in 1986 to go solo. Why not check out Sting's first solo hit released in 1987 called 'Sting - Englishman In New York.' (4.27 mins). 🎶
This is about obsession and not being able to let go of a love relationship. You think the premise for this one is bad, you should check out Don’t Stand So Close To Me.
The police are awesome Can't stand losing you Another artist who you may like is Lukas Graham the song 7years is really cool and someone named Jasmine Thompson does a cover of it would love to see your take on both versions in the male and female voices if you are interested I'm glad you are liking the great suggestions everyone here is giving you thanks
Nat as you go on with this musical journey of reacting to song. You will find the majority of the (horrible rap so-called songs which isn't real music) were taken from real musical artists from our time, and they are not really acknowledging the original creators of the music. They take what talented musicians, and talented singers have created and redo it with computer generated music tracks, then add in the fake auto-tune for those who can't really sing or carry a tune. That's why today's music is garbage. No creativity on their own. They are riding on earlier artists coat tails, because they can't compose the music, play any musical instruments, write positive lyrics with a positive message. It's easy to copy from someone else. They call it sampling, I call it stealing.
P Diddy used this tune in the song I’ll be Mussing You, his tribute to his friend Biggie, whom he apparently took out or paid someone else to take out. Sad
